Life / Polish pretense - what's the deal? [72]

I have on this forum come up against some very sordid and nasty people, with very nasty opinions, I have not until now been tempted to ignore and neither shall I, but I am not going to continue this because we are most definitely not from the same culture and can not find a meeting of minds or beliefs, but I know from this that neither I nor my wife ever want to meet people like you and we are lucky that we can choose our friends. This exchange has made me think seriously about never coming on this forum again. In conclusion I simply shake my head and think what the hell am I doing in this place of savages.....but you are not all of the people here, so I shall look in from time to time. You have virtually accused me on a written page without any evidence and by dint of my being English??? of using teaching and friendship to molest children??? if the moderators can,t see that your actions should be discouraged in the strongest terms then this forum is not a place for me.

Life / Polish pretense - what's the deal? [72]

i'm not sure why you are so offended.

You misunderstand...I am not offended......all I offered was fact......I see Trannies as a fact of life (even in the Polish Government - it had to come eventually).....like so many other things...maybe they are sent to test us? (seriously though I have no beef with trannies so long as they tell me from the outset....same as those 'ladyboy things' so long as they say what they are from 'the get go' I will have a drink with them, tell them a joke and send them on their way happy....it is when they tell me they are really a woman because they feel like one that I get annoyed.....sometimes I feel like a million dollars and then I look in my wallet and think nowhere near!! so I don,t go around telling people I am a millionaire. Ps. For Paulina....my wife read your post and was disgusted...I won,t tell you what she said about your lifestyle, but she basically said 'get a life'. (ps. she knows how hard it is to get a life in Poland, which is why she spent 30 years in civilisation).

Life / Polish pretense - what's the deal? [72]

I was once propositioned by a transvestite in the car park of the big galeria in Gdansk

Ewww... You'd like to oogle teenage girls, wouldn't you? ;O

???more bile and insults? Perhaps your insults will stay on the forum and my reply will be deleted?....We mostly teach girls English, so that is the group I asked. You really are some strange people on here? (A kind of mis-placed patriotism....like the mother who can,t see the wrong in her murderous, insane son). And no we don,t see as many 'boys' in the Malls here, perhaps it is not a 'Boy' thing in this area....it is a really rural area and maybe the boys are brought up to squat in the forest drinking vodka instead??. I think the practitioners of magic have always been against the church and its teachings and probably the 'magic' priests tell all their children to 'stay away from those Catholic Churches...they are full of Paedophiles!!!....by the way did you hear the one in the news today about the Cardinal who says Paedophilia among priests should not be punished....poor men... it is not a crime..it is merely a sickness and they should be helped not punished. I,m willing to bet that whilst out there in civilisation people are horrified (Yes they already are)...here in Poland the reaction will be..."Hey...maybe he is right...got to protect our paedophile priests" The wind of change may be blowing at last and the end is in sight. The only Tranny I have seen in Poland is on Television in Government???

We may be right Harry, round here just before Andrzejki the priests go into a flurry of activity, preaching hard about how bad Andrzejki is and how having your fortune read can lead to drugs?, murder? and general dissolution???. You see the Church is not afraid of Muslims, Scientologists, etc etc because they all require you to learn a new doctrine.....and people are lazy like that, can,t really be bothered......but they are terrified of something that might ridicule the church or allow the scales to fall from peoples eyes and let them see what a nonsense it all is.

Which mall are you talking about

Smaller Mall where Auchan is, then we usually go to Millenium Hall or Galeria Rszesow.....Millenium and Galeria are both modern clean, with good shops and places to eat etc.....but like I said, compared to UK....more than half empty, just never get that crowded feeling. (which as I said....I like) We sometimes roll into Tesco or Le Clerc and the Mall next/above/around it. Still finding new malls to hang out in.

Additional: One reason I have found out for Malls here being empty......No Young People!!! (that is no/very few young people meeting and hanging out together) I have asked teenagers in this village = girls 13-17 age group - the kind of age they would hang out in Malls in UK and I get the answers A. Mothers will not let them go alone, B. can,t afford to bus in to the big town, C. No mental conception of window shopping and hanging out, D. The priest wouldn,t like it and preaches against it!!! (I made that one up but this is the 'Pod' and you can guess it is true) E. a couple of them suggested that 'security' in the Malls would not allow them to hang out without parents. I have seen young people in the Malls, not many, but probably 'townies. In conclusion there are nowhere near the levels of young people hanging out together in the Malls as there are in UK and USA. It is sad not to be surrounded by the laughter of young people having fun, when in the Malls and the loss is that of the Youth of these areas, I am sure things will slowly change, but in the meantime it keeps the Malls empty for people like me.

Nobody wants to go and shop at a mall together with lots of other people

I have to say this......Malls here (and yes there are three that I know of in Rszesow) are a revelation after Malls in the UK!!! I love the Malls here, the ones in UK are crowded with harrassed parents with screaming children and every one of them is packed shoulder to shoulder with people....here in this place the Malls are almost empty most days, even weekends you could not say that they are crowded. God knows how these stores make a profit, they have a lot of staf stood around doing nothing, but like I said that is just how I like it....it almost feels like I have a mall all to myself sometimes and yes some guys do like to trawl the malls, I like to see people. (But not as many as in the Malls UK side)

Love / Are Polish girls open to foreigners? [78]

when im forced to chose a color it is very easier to pick my color from the crayon box.

All of the above is the best reason ever to not let them in...if we can possibly help it.....vote for governments who will keep them out!!! All they want is the passport and a way out of the place they live which is not as good as the place they aspire to live. We have enough of us without more of them.

Envyme: Why are people trying to be Western?

Er....excuse me......I,m trying to be more Eastern......I drive a car made in Ulyanovsk (893 kilometers EAST of Moscow - birthplace of Vladimir Lenin no less) can,t get much more eastern than that and still be in Europe!!!!!!! (I thought this thread needed a little humour) oh and I hang out at the mall....lots of pretty girls to look at!!!

OK so we (wife and I) went shopping yesterday in 'Auchan' Rszesow, we bought 12 x 4ltr bottles of blue bubble bath, 2 large steaks, 3 x DVDs 3 x 5ltr washing up liquid......we then drove to the millenium hall, did a bit of 'window shopping' had a bargain bucket KFC between us....and then a fancy yoghurt as 'afters'.....drove home the back way through the countryside (along muddy/ ice covered forest tracks) totally forgot to fill up with diesel???whilst at Auchan where diesel is cheaper. OK so what does that say about us? (yep one of us likes bubbles!! and we aint talkin chimp!!)

Life / Rising cost of food across the globe. How much is a weekly shop in Poland now in 2013. [53]

It all depends on whether you are a city dweller or a village dweller. All the people around here grow loads of their own produce and pickle it/store it overwinter.....weekly shop is therefore obviously a lot less than for a city person who has to buy it all? (Village people are usually a lot less well off too but think of the ones who are not!!! they eat well and only need to buy those little luxuries...lot to be said for country life)

Law / Registration of right hand drive cars in Poland - possible? [82]

Wildrover...it,s not crazy...there are some sound reasons (Polish reasons) why not.......for one the 'New car sales industry' in Poland is not very healthy and a huge influx of cheap RHD cars from UK will kill it stone dead. The second has been discussed here so many times and it is this strange madness that comes over some Poles the moment they get behind the wheel of a car.....if you look at it from the point of view of the government they are already acutely embarrassed by the road deaths/ maiming and carnage figures of Polands roads. (people jump on the throats of anyone on this forum who dares to liken Poland to a third world country but none of them can dispute that the road deaths/maiming figures are definitley third world!!!) They have been warned by the EU that they must bring down the figures to a civilised level, hence the huge influx of speed cameras, Police checks etc..(I,m sure the only way they will really cure this problem is to take away cars from speeders/drink drivers and crush the cars). So the upshot of this is that they will do their best to hold off having large amounts of RHD cars on the road which can only add to the carnage and general mayhem. They have to appease the EU in one way and hold them at bay in another way????? EU style madness!!!

Life / The two sides of the Poles: friendly and honest / saying behind ones back [15]

OK I,m going to add this just for Grzegorz......because he won,t believe it (or will believe it but will deny it) out here in the villages in the hills, they make up stories about anything and everything.....one woman told us she didn,t like our eggs because they taste of calcium?????? What the hell does calcium taste like...but seriously they make up stories about anything at all......and sadly the reason for this is: NOTHING, but nothing ever ever happens!!! so they make up stories!!!!!! just to make their lives interesting and give them something to gossip about out...again I suspect just like people all over.....but here it is acute. (I suspect the conversation for the guys squatting in circles goes something like this: " Gregorz cow has big udders" "No Janusz cow has bigger udders" "How do you know?" "I felt them"!!!!! pass the beer!!!)

They are just ordinary people, no better, no worse than some or most. People everywhere who are happy in their job, relationship and life do not feel the need to backbite.......if you have experienced that sort of people then you have met people who are unhappy with their lot.....and that type of people are everywhere.

Love / Annoying sister-in-law of my Polish hubby [30]

This just an obsevation (3 years in a village in 'The Podkarpacie') families here do good and also do great wrong to its members...or rather that the problem is in the old fashioned way the family is run (hangs together). I,ll just give some examples to show how it works here. eg 1. Family we know were going to Sanok for a fun day for the children (both families had 3 children) with sisters family....sisters kids got sick,,,fun day cancelled? all of the children dissappointed...why? I asked why didn,t you go? "Oh we had arranged it together so we couldn,t go without them? This is where my brain makes that Brrrrrrring noise...it does not compute!!! eg 2. OK this applies more to peasants I suppose...but the grandma and grandad system where everyone lives in a house together.....great for babysitting purposes and grandma can help keep the house tidy.....but Wow!!! do these old people impose their 1950,s ideas on these poor kids...who poor little mites...go and believe all the crap and then have to be re-educted when they reach civilisation...confuses the hell out of them. eg 3. maybe only on farms...but the signing over of the farm 'lock stock and two smoking pigs' to the drunken alcoholic eldest son....when there are younger, non-alcoholic kids who would run the farm better (that one is my personal bugbear!) eg 4. Businesses likewise, small business Poles tend to employ relatives?? no matter those relatives are waste-of skin congenital idiots?? it,s something that I believe drags Poland down and does not encourage it to develop..small businesses run well become big businesses and help the country no hinder it. eg 5. The drunken loony at the wedding, that we find was not invited...and then we find that off her own bat, granny invited him...he spoils the whole wedding for everyone...but granny claims "He is Family, we must stick together" No granny...he is a psycho..and better off in prison or dead!!!! You see, there is a saying 'The family of the future is a family of friends who care about and trust each other' also 'You can choose your friends, you can,t choose your family' At the moment this family system where everything is close knit is spoiling it for some people, but it will eventually die out as the oldies croak and more and more young people travel, see new ideas about families that they can see work better, they will bring back these ideas and the Polish 'crazy gang family' will die out to be replaced by something looser that suits everyone, especially modern Poles. (on that day the interfering sister in law wont have such a 'pull' on her brother and will have receded to a mere legendary status)

Life / Do Polish people like Turkish people? [66]

I hope capco is still reading this and goes away with understanding......Poles and the rest of us in the EU are not rascist against Turkey, our problem is that they are so big and there are just so many of them......it is fear of that size and those huge numbers that may make us seem against them. When I served in 6th Allied Tactical Airforce (Izmir) my boss was a Colonel in the Turkish Airforce for a while...seemed like a nice guy....but I woudn,t want the whole Turkish Airforce in my backyard if you see what I mean?

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

I am aware that this like stepping into a tank of sharks: But my opinion is this: I would rather have Poles in UK than Africans and all the different colours of Muslim etc that are in UK. This is not based on colour...I know full well that Poles are three steps away from me on culture/religion/family and a few other minor things...but all the blacks and muslims are light years from my culture, lets get rid of the useless ones of them that are leeching off UK society.....Poles are not a danger to UK..... nothing like the danger from the others. If only every Pole that came to UK, displaced and sent back an African, I would be a happy man.

Life / Men in Poland in the forest? Just men? [133]

I really do think we understand each other. We really do understand how different Polish people are.....we know that there are very few points of contact between our lifestyles and theirs......but that suits us. We do have friends here but they are Polish people who lived in America for a long time, and our other Polish friends are mostly married to Western Europeans and do understand the differences especially in the areas of 'family'/religion. You must watch 'Downton Abbey' on TV, my wife insists that 'Family' was one thing that made the British aristocracy become almost extinct . She also sees a similar thing happening in Poland, countless small businesses we have contact with are family owned and run by various members of the family.....regardless of whether that family member is a congenital idiot/alcoholic/psychopath/all of the preceeding!!!!! and so the businesses are not doing very well, (But they cannot see the problem??) The Western model would be to fire the idiots and get in people who can do the job (not necessarily family). Another example might be the Polish wedding we went to where the bride and groom had not invited one guy who was a cousin, but a man who was a dangerous alcoholic who had spent time in jail for almost killing a woman and of course he appeared at the wedding and started fights at the reception and spoiled it for everyone.....we were there when the questions were being asked and it seems that 'Grandma' invited him 'because he is family' and he was a 'good little boy'......family....you can keep it!! We saw just last week an example of 'family', two parts of a family were going to Sanok for a fun day for the children, one family couldn,t make it because of illness, so the other family didn,t go....result upset/dissappointed children????? a Western family would have said, sorry to hear that get well soon we are still going....result happy children!!! Family? you can keep it!!!! We also know at least a couple of farms that have daughters and sons and in a couple of the cases the eldest son is an alcoholic waste of skin....but the farms will go to the idiot boy because he is the eldest son....in one case there is an intelligent and hard working daughter who could run the farm and would do better than the father has done...but she won,t get the farm because she is a girl and not the eldest son....family?? Polish style?? you live in a dream world and again Family!!! you can keep it!!!! My wife believes that this part of Poland has not a hope in hell until all the old people are out of the way and younger people who have travelled and have more sensible and modern ideas about the business/family relationship come home (if they ever do) to re-vitalise business on a Western model........your cloud cuckoo ideas of how wonderful 'family' really is will be swept into the History books and small businesses here in Poland might just have a chance.

Life / Men in Poland in the forest? Just men? [133]

Correct...I have seen Polish family life...we have many friends here and Polish family life to me would be 'hell on earth' I would rather buy a gun and shoot myself than have to live in the awful (to me) constrictions of Polish family life, I cannot honestly think of anything worse. We have a saying in UK that I find particularly relevant here in Poland......'You can choose your friends, but you cannot choose your family'. I have seen countless cases of people who are unhappy and miserable solely because they are trapped in a Polish family with people they despise and sadly they do not have the money to leave or they most certainly would move to the other end of the Planet just to get away. I have spoken since our last exchange to friends in Denmark, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and also two other Americans....they also think it would be an absolutely wonderful deal for someone......I am worried for you that I am going to check out every nation on earth and we will find that it is only you who thinks it would be a bad thing.....I am now sorely wishing that a few more Poles would come in on your side and back up your proposition that these poor people, who would inherit my farm would be in a 'Gulag'. My wife in her earlier incarnation (see her in the film.... Ptaki Ptakom - she has the flowers and shoots the nasty German) lived in a little flat with her family and she says it was almost luxury compared to the very 'crammed in' way some of these hill farmers live (she admits that the farmers eat much better).

Law / Polish EU Drivers Licence - can I get one the easy way (by paying for it)? [185]

Lowkey32.......I think I get it.......yes you used to be able to buy a licence here by bribing the tester with cash.....the cars are now all rigged up with cams and mikes to stop this.....so unless you have a hot line into the people above that level and few have!!! then you are out of luck. It has been said that Ukraine is still as corrupt as ever and a genuine licence can be bought and then exchanged for a Polish licence due to some obscure European agreement that they have between these two countries. Does that answer your question?

Life / Men in Poland in the forest? Just men? [133]

We arrive closer to and agreement. I cannot change who I am and my cultural background.....in my country and in America this arrangement I have suggested would be a good deal to anyone with foresight. You suggest that in Poland this would not be a good deal and anyone Polish would hate to live for free on a farm and then inherit it when someone dies. I have to tell you that in this part of Poland a huge amount of families are so poor that they are born in a two room farmhouse......they are brought up in that two room farmhouse, they marry and bring their wife/husband to live in that two room farmhouse, they bring up children in that two room farmhouse along with the children of their brothers and sisters, and then they grow old and die in that two room farmhouse.......I still hope that maybe one of them may have some foresight and perhaps get a little fed up with having to pull out a sofa bed everynight and make up a bed in their corner of the room? And all the time knowing that ownership of the house will only ever go to the eldest son!! (even be he the nastiest creature that ever walked the soil of Poland) You have no idea how many people around here live like that in quiet desperation and I,m sure it happens all over rural Poland. I didn,t make this up, this situation was explained to us by a girl we know......and one of her friends is in an even worse position, she is seventeen and sleeps in a two room house with 5 brothers. This is the countryside, it is raw and smelly, but very beautiful..you should see it in spring and high summer. Good luck to you also.

Life / Men in Poland in the forest? Just men? [133]

Again..you mis-understand...we were not thinking of buying a family, look how can I explain it........if you have a farm where I come from, you work at it and make a profit, you buy more land.......and then one day you think? I should be reaping the rewards from this not slaving away miking cows and ploughing fields....so you hire a farm manager who does all the managing and you just lie back in your conservatory and enjoy a well earned rest........we were thinking more in terms of a Manager than a family!!!!! We do not put families down! they are just not for us...you and anyone else that likes the 'family system' is welcome to it, to us and many people like us, it is simply a lifestyle choice not a nescessity.

AAAGH!!! we don,t want to burden our families.....you see... again there is this huge culture barrier between us......we think that getting closer to our families would be hell on earth....whereas you nice people are oh so cuddly with your families and love living in each others pockets. But it is interesting....this culture thing.... I have just been putting my plan to people that I have known for years...one in the United States (ex military man) and one in UK.....both intelligent and well travelled people......the reaction from both of them was..'what a good plan, and so very good for the people who get the windfall of your property' in almost the same terms.......and what has been the reaction from Poles? 'Don't do it they will murder you in your beds for a few Zloti'!!!!!! it is a bit telling isn,t it? Poles seem so much more pragmatic and brits nd yanks seem so romanitcally hopeful....how we ever had that huge Empire is beyond me? maybe we were different then and much more viscious. Please don,t think that you are not being helpful...you are helping us to better understand the culture barrier.....it is even so for my wife...30 years in UK has softened her.

Do you know, I wonder what I would do?.....I mean if I were one of these third worlders.....on the outside trying to get in to civilisation?
