USA, Canada / Poles and Americans, what do you think, are we friends or enemies? [187]

So let's hypothesize...

If guesswho were POTUS, with the above stated clearly for the world to see... How many nations would trust the US? There would always be that nagging fear for partners (whether in the realm of commerce, military, political pressure against other nations etc...) that they could never rely on them for reciprocity, or in a time of need, so why go the extra mile?

USA, Canada / Poles and Americans, what do you think, are we friends or enemies? [187]

if we are talking about real friendship, it should be unconditional

Absolutely true.

but with politics, unfortunitely it doesn't work that way

There's the rub. Whether it is driven by party politics, or a result of some "optics", common sense or that unconditional aspect can go out the window. Also, pressure from special interest groups can change a relationship.

Who would you propose would be the top recipient of the "unconditional" friendship award go to?

Don't you think that convenience is a word that works for both sides?

But which country would I expect to be more loyal to the friendship? Poland. The US has a habit of making "friends" and then abandoning them when the test comes. Sometimes, they don't pick their friends well, either.

No, you cant put a price on a day that is treasured forever..

You're right. I can imagine it is never the same after the wedding day. I'm sure the memories would be fond.

History / The Polish Blame Culture! [330]

so when will all the blame culture end?

I would say when the older crowd currently running PL is replaced by some of the young up and comers. Youth often don't want to follow their elders as far as decision making is concerned. They will have been brought up in a much more dynamic economy, where entrepreneurialism is rewarded, along with a can-do attitude. Once this is in place, the majority of the blame culture will be replaced. Just my thoughts.

UK, Ireland / Polish and Irish should love each other [65]

Better start learning Polish b*tch, the "lets work in UK" is just a cover up, our stormtroopers are coming.

Sokrates, you are not supposed to spill the beans. But since you have let it slip...

When can we expect the invasion to commence to stage five?

Once we have replenished the number of radical catholics in the entire UK, the mass conversion of the Islamic population to catholicism will start. Tune in to Radio Marija and listen for the secret coded transmission. By all necessary means.

but it depends on what side of the fence you are sitting.

What if you are sitting squarely on the fence?

Life / Polish "Mall Girl" Culture? [125]

nomaderol: Girls on average enter the sex trade at age 15

Not being a statistician or anything, but doesn't an average imply that there are some who will enter later, some will enter sooner? So based on this one could infer there maybe girls who enter at maybe 9 years of age? Sounds like something a prophet could get into.

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

According to wiki 37.4% of Polish People are Rude. This compares favourably with the UK where it was proven that 38.96% of people were rude. The highest concentrations of rude people were found in line to pay for their goods at the local chippy.

UK, Ireland / No job unless you're Polish [201]

she was at her company for 8 years, you explain to me, how a salary can half in 8 years?

Good Old Capitalism at work there. It is a matter of supply and demand. There is a large supply of hungry (insert profession here) out there because of the economy. Demand is low because business is nervous about adding staff because of the economy. Ergo, business can be selective about who they hire, and what they pay them. It is a double edged sword though, because as the econmy improves, those that were hired for much less than they are worth, won't stick around. Demand will improve and the supply will shrink, causing wages to rise. The good ones will be the first to leave.

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

they could attract far more tourist if they got off their lazy a##es to build better roads, fight crime etc

Eliminate corruption and educate the people, and 90% of the problems would be solved. This may be an impossibility I am afraid. They would probably be able to feed themselves, and generate a great deal of wealth. It won't happen with continued Aid as we know it.

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

Poles move to work and then one day return to Poland

I know of so many poles that go back to poland and find it hard to adjust back into society. Whether it is because they are "used to" their most recent surroundings or they can't tolerate the way things have changed since the time they left. It can be quite an adjustment.

The difference I see in Poles abroad, is they try to fit into their new surroundings. They don't try to change their surroundings to suit them. And, no I don't consider building churches, skleps and other "cultural support" as an attempt to change society, like so many other types of immigrants do.

Europeans just exploited the gold, oil, etc. because Africans couldn't get bothered or were just too stupid to do it themselves

I don't think we have seen the last of the resources in Africa. There is probably a lot more yet to be discovered.

History / Have Poles blood on their hands? :) [496]

I'd assume that the island scenario would be a formal one, arrived at my some democratic means.

A secret ballot wouldn't work if both were vying for power. Rock Paper Scissors may work.

The grand leader of course. This sounds too much like American Politics. Two choices, and they probably are both poor ones.

go to an island with two people.

But then, wouldn't the person elected grand leader be considered an oligarch?
