News / Prediction: Poland to be World Superpower in XXI century [147]

RUSSIA doesn't want more competition. Seanus, you need to forget about America and visit some other places in the world. Go see the cities of the future. Hint: they aren't in America. Quit lying and trying to make America look omnipotent when it's obvious other countries have much more money and much newer cities. Does Washington DC have a brand new rotating wind tower? Moscow does. And yet America has tons of money and controls everything. Where is our new tower, if that's the case? Read up on the times, Seanus! You're living in a different decade. It might have been true years ago, but not now.

America is in deep debt, a recession and the infrastructure is crumbling, in places. The schools are failing and churning out too many math/science/reading illiterates. While other places are building skyscrapers, ours are getting old and some are being targeted by terrorists.

If you want to see where real hyperpower is, turn your eyes toward the middle east and Russia and away from America.

That's embarrassingly off topic, Seanus. Let's just agree it's not the US who wants to stop Eastern Europe from progressing. We aren't immediate neighbors. Those would be Britain, France, Germany and Russia. That's where you have to look, Seanus.

News / Do Poles in Poland really feel betrayed because there won't be any US Shield? [288]

But for us to lift visa restrictions on a counrty with a long history of its citizens not returning home and living here Illegally is ridiculous.

That isn't a good reason to have a visa restriction in place. There are so many people from other countries here, it doesn't really matter who they let in so long as it isn't the muslims. Keep the muslims out, anyone else should be able to get a visa. Most of the illegals are Mexican, anyway.

As for the shield, it doesn't seem like people wanted one and since it was unpopular in the first place and is now scrapped, people should be happy they don't have to have one now.

My point is, the Poles wouldn't have the most illegal immigration anyway. Stop discriminating against the Poles and give them Visas. It's only fair. Everybody else gets them. The only problem I have is with the muslims getting them. Everyone who wants to come to the US should be allowed a Visa so long as they are not criminals, have a contagious disease or muslims but everyone else should be welcome and allowed to have a visa.

I agree with what most say about the Visa issue. There is no reason to deny Visas to Poles.

They didn't really want it anyway, Sledz. The fear was being caught in the middle of a scuffle between the US and Russia. The Shield was a bad idea for the region. I think it's better to put it on hold, maybe indefinitely, but, at the very least, until more people are open to the idea. Why go ahead and put it in place when so many are against it? It would just cause a lot of tension.

Russia doesn't like it for some reason. Maybe they are afraid it will be used to intercept their missiles so they will be vulnerable to nuclear attack from Europe and will be at a loss politically and have to kiss ass?

This shield, supposedly, interfers with Iran, but maybe it interfers with Russia, too?
Seanus, I meant contagious diseases like retroviruses. You cannot keep something like H1N1 from crossing borders.
If someone is diagnosed with HIV, might as well deny them a Visa, but you can't keep all the Mexicans out just because of H1N1. It would most likely spread, anyway, because you would have Mexicans going elsewhere and people from those other places where they go will come here and spread it that way. Those pesky things always find a way in.

Haha, yeah. What Irony! It is kinda like the Cuban Missile Crisis. But, there are some fundamental differences. One of them being Europe. Cuba was one little island off the coast of Florida, but, Eastern Europe is connected to Western Europe and they are allies. It's similar to C.M.C. but not quite the same situation...

Of course. Everybody and everything is against the Poles. Always and ever. And the Poles are pure innocense. Yet everybody mistreats them and everybody abuses them.

But, there's no excuse for denying Poles US Visas. If you are going to deny Poles, you might as well deny everyone. Poles aren't any different from any other nationality.

Sledz has a solid point here. How about forward planning, ever thought of that? Your visa expiry date should be at the forefront of your mind. Plan well before and get some of those relatives in Zakopane to pay your flight costs if you can't get further employment.

It's not the problem of the US, they merely issue visas with clear conditions attached.

Seanus, you have a point here. Overstaying the Visa is something that shouldn't be encouraged and people should make good on their Visa whenever possible, however, this, alone SHOULD NOT be a reason to deny ANYONE a Visa! That's my point? Why should other Poles who haven't done anything, never overstayed a Visa be penalized because of the poor choices of others?

Statistically, we get more immigrants from Mexico and Latin America, so, if Poles were allowed the same opportunities to obtain Visas as others elsewhere, I doubt they would be the majority of Visas issued. So, what's the big deal? It does sound like discrimination. If you don't believe me, provide some good statistical data for the past ten years or so. Who are the immigrants and what countries are they from? You can pretty much assume if you have people coming from one particular area, like Mexico, a certain percentage overstay their Visas. People are not perfect.

Please read the topic of this thread in post #1, then try to stay on topic.

Maybe the US have just come to their senses and realised a missile shield in Poland is pretty much obselete when it comes to defending the US from Russian missiles.

It hasn't much to do with Russia, anyway. Not officially. Hillary was just on saying it's about defending Europe from Iran's ballistic missiles. She deemphasized Russia and said the decision wasn't based on growls from the Bear. It was based on what is needed to defend allied countries from Iran's missiles. It isn't "scrapped", just amended. If the majority of Poles hate the idea anyway, it's a good thing our govt didn't implement it. It could have been the start of a period of tension. I would just assume not have the shield implemented the way they were planning if it's going to cause countries to invade each other or be hostile in more covert ways. I hope it's not too late for things to settle down over this matter.

That woman says many things and she tends to float with the breeze. Talk is cheap. She has taken a firm line with Israel on the settlements issue but they are just ignoring her.

Seanus, she was being reassuring. What's wrong with that? Besides, the missile shield was a bad idea anyway. It sounds like Russia was using it as a provocation which would most likely mean bad news in the future. Maybe this is a positive development and shouldn't be thought of as abandonment and betrayal, rather, a wise decision that will promote prosperity in the region. The shield would have just caused problems, sounds like.

Food / POLISH RECIPES! [287]

I've been looking at ways to incorporate more vegetables, roots, and fruits into my diet. I am going to try Mizeria, Pistachio. I like English cucumbers better than the pickling variety. Since I am trying new ways to prepare meals with veggies, I am on the lookout for new recipes. Another favorite of mine, with cucumbers, is a dill -yogurt- cucumber sauce. The cool flavor of the cucumber (a bit melony but without the sweetness) mixes well with the dill and yogurt. I noticed the dill in your Mizeria recipe, too. I like that combination, cucumbers with sour cream and dill or yogurt and dill.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

A woman is a woman. Just a piece of meat, guts, blood all stuck in a skin.

You forgot to mention the fact that we have a central nervous system and are conscious. It's a bit more than meat, blood, and flesh.

Or, it could be a saline solution.

WTF are you talking about Tornado. I see more white guys chasing petite Asian women than I do Polish girls chasing black guys :)

Botox, but not in the boobs ;)

Love / Are all Polish men Psychos? [111]

It sounds like it's going nowhere, so, maybe you should just talk to the dude in class and leave it at that.
What you explained doesn't make this guy a psycho or a Jeckyl and Hyde, btw.

You can always demand to know, "ARE YOU MARRIED? DO YOU HAVE ANY KIDS? NO? THEN WHAT, EXACTLY, ARE YOUR PROBLEMS?" Do this right before class starts :D

How do you know he is using her? He is talking to her in the class but not during his spare time. That doesn't sound like "using". It sounds like he isn't that into her for some reason. If she really really likes him, she can talk to him in class. That's probably all she'll get. It's better than nothing, if she really likes him.

She can look for someone who's available while being nice to this guy. I agree with both of you, it's like she is very needy and is already planning her life with this guy, seeing only what she wants to see and this guy is just being nice and social, but he has a life. Just because the guy has a wife and kids already, or a gf, doesn't mean she should hate him, start calling him a psycho, badmouthing him to others (unless he's lying and leading her on, it doesn't sound like he is, exactly). It's time to face reality.

Did he volunteer his phone number or did she get it after needling him and practically begging? Maybe he didn't want to cause trouble in the class by saying no, but he never planned to talk to her outside of the class.

But my situation is already so bad it can`t get even worse....

Yeah, but do you attend classes where you woo strange females, handing out your phone number, telling them to call but never answering?
