Genealogy / If your ancestors were in the "Wehrmacht"... [217]

Can you get rid of the poetic literary stuff?

no, there should be place in the world for a little ancient submergence in the myth. the enlightment was all the hype in 18th century, but that was long ago.

Genealogy / If your ancestors were in the "Wehrmacht"... [217]

nobody has a relative who was one

I think I mentioned mine before.

Hear me, hear me:

on my Paternal side, the daughters of the Austrian officer and a countess became involved with the regime, one worked in a meat factory as a bookkeeper, and never lacked. One married a Stalinist, and never lacked, one was a Sanitariuszka, married a Partisan and lacked all her life. I'm the Granddaughter of this Partisan, and I choose to be proud of Him, rather than be involved with whatever the rest was up to.

How the F*** can one be an officer's daughter and a f****** Commie???

On my Maternal side, there were farmers and poor city folk, and they were mostly hiding and buying food.

Now - if you don't understand what is the Polish feeling of history all about: we had the choice to make, and some have made the wrong one. They will not be counted among the skulls. None will have a kurhan. As a nation, we have not made the wrong choice, but some among us have. They are traitors or criminals. They should have been given a lamp post of their own. But that's our internal affairs.

I am making a clear statement here. Those who let down their own myth, do not belong to it. So I will not accept the vague statements like 'Poland is guilty of xxx'. She has not abandoned the myth. Now, to say, this or that person was a criminal, is a different matter altogether. Crime is NOT encouraged in this society, and the whole society will not be punished for it by other societies.

Of course not! Germans and Czechs also lay a claim and influenced the mix. In the sixties most places like Zabrze were so intent on belonging to Germany that they only spoke German (even if very badly)

History was easier when there were Kings, and not nations. With the idea of nations came the idea of national land, and the search for proofs.

Take the excavation in Legnica- there was a 2nd century settlement there, and both Poles and Germans claimed the tribe as proof of earliest settlement, which would in the minds of people in the 20s and 30s be a proof of the right to live there (kind of like 'I WAS HERE FIRST! GET BACK IN THE QUEUE!'). In the book 'Polska Piastów' by the famous Paweł Jasienica (a journalist historian of Poland), there is a story of a German Professor saying that the headdresses of the women there were definitely Slavonic, but I can't post it here because I gave the book to my Dad.

So yes, Silesians can be Germans, Poles, Czechs and have family on all sides. (...And I still think it should lay in Poland. The reason is simple - the food is good there. And the church in Nysa is not just any church - it's a coronation church of the Jagiellon. I must keep it as much as the Wrocław Island, the coronation grounds of Popielidzi and probably at least one Piast.)

UK, Ireland / Poles working in Manchester, England - request for facts [34]

I don't know about retail, I'm an accountant. I've worked in 5 companies and all have hired other accountants apart from me who were from Poland. In general they seem pleased, but they try to stop us from chatting in Polish (not loudly, but when standing next to one another).

I've also got two Polish friends who are design engineers.

I know about people working in retail, but it's hard to get along. The question of them earning the basic rate is always there.

That is a statistic fact.

No, we want to be in the free movement agreement, not in the Super State. Besides, I think it's down to 40% now.

Besides, in real life I've got German friends and have been in Germany just for leisure. It's only the forum ranting time when I b*tch.

OH, BB - I said I was sorry. Veryvery sorry - OK?

GB is indeed sucking people out for their market. Not sure why they complain since they offer people jobs on job market fairs in Poland. But there you go.

Well for 200 years those lands have been our lost lands. In reality we got them as means of payment.
Why do you think I keep mentioning the Voivod od Poznań? We were there before Germans. Poznań, Gniezno - those are old roki sites. There were five kingly aces, and the Kind was always travelling between them.

Ostrów Tumski was the prominent religious site, in Wrocław.
in Nysa, there is the coronation church of Władysław IV.

I have no way of feeling for their loss. Shouldn't have taken in the fist place.

And have you noticed to whom the best properties in Chicago belong?

It's really had for another reason.
That woman who owns Mokate is one of the richest women. She once went to some club meeting in a hotel somewhere in the world, and she was the only one to have come with one bag.

It's just Polish.

Okay, Okay, sorry. I'm aggressive, and proud of it.

Sweeping generalizations withdrawn.

My point - go to any country OUTSIDE the circle of mutual adoration calling itself Rich Europe, and Poland is not a poor country. Poor is Nicaragua, BB.

You just refuse to see it and Poles refuse to see it. I feel rich in Poland.

Would you say that Spain, and Iceland, are rich Western countries? Because if you would, you would be working with a myth. Spain offers less jobs and more expensive life, as expressed with food basket. I know. i have friends living there. They went to the Rich Countries, since Poland was so unacceptable, to take matters in their hands. They have not found much...

Language / Vocabulary: rasowy [3]

Let's clear that one:

we all know the 'race' in English means something like a subspecies of humans and they are graded, from 'best' to 'worst'.

In Polish, we have:

From PWN:
rasowy
1. «dotyczący rasy ludzkiej» - RACIAL; regarding a human race
2. «o zwierzętach: należący do jakiejś rasy» - PEDIGREE; animals belonging to a breed
3. «mający wszelkie cechy charakterystyczne dla przedstawicieli jakiejś grupy zawodowej lub społecznej» - SPECIFIC; having all the characteristics of a member of trade or social group.

rasowy dziennikarz, rasowy wędkarz - race journalist, race angler

Just to puzzle you.

Next time when you're posting something about race on the forum, and thinking that Poles must be racist with their slacking attitude to racial respect, you may remember to check this entry.

Rasowy means simply - specific, characteristic.

That is, if we boil down to the meaning.

Steps have been taken to instill the idea of raciality, racism and what not; Poles had begun using those ideas, but you can bet there is a wide gap in understanding, since it's not present in our history. Give me religious conflict any time - racial is not so easy to comprehend.

History / Polish soldiers in '68 made Czech men to drink beer from his shoes... [34]

Ukraine was invaded and occupied

No. it was inherited, mostly. Also there had been some Kozak rebellions. They originated from Polish reluctance to acknowledge Ukrainian nobility. I think that was rude of us. Kozacy are a warlike people, and the conflict between us was warlike. Nothing to apologize for. In fact, a good occasion to make heroes and officers.

Kozacy wento to Muscovy for help, because from Poland all they could get was this line: 'you are traitors'. So they got help from Muscovy, who then promptly turned to killing Ukraine.

i imagine that they must be blaming us.

If you come to look at the conflict between us in the 20 century, in that century Ukraine was recognized by Poles as part of Poland and Ukrainian nationals were Polish citizens. You may want to enter into yet another of your racist rants, but there you go: gene Ruthenus, natione Polonus, religione Catholicus, was the way of introducing people. You will notice the shifts of meaning between words in Enlgihs and Polish and Latin.

At any rate, today there is a Ukrainian language, nation, and state. I wish that they would be richer, so that Russia would not meddle with their heads like Germany meddles with ours.

More proud, I hope!
Not so receptive to the Germanic myth of them being cleaner than East, because they were dirtier than the Romans. It really annoys me. As depicted above.

When you become an attractive country

Typical German. I'm sure you enjoy the compliment.

There is so much German rudeness, stuffiness, slander to take that in any other place on
Earth it would be prohibited by court.

I went to England, am here now, and I tell you, that attractiveness of the West is a myth. No forests, no automatic flushes in the toilets, no plumbing in most houses, sink drains leak out to open canals, cinemas are old, cinema screens are ancient, no food that would have taste apart from beef. The people are not gentlemanly but crass.

The belief in Poland of poor little Poland and poor Poles is created by Germans.

I say we have forests, excellent food like you wish you tasted, kind people, beautiful architecture that you BB have destroyed. Millenia od culture. (the Wojewoda of Poznań was one of the most powerful)

The thing is that to justify your trechery against Poland...

(relax, Brits. no alliance here. but they started a war without declaration, wore our uniforms and denied help to the wounded)

...you compensate with telling youself stories of Polish thieves and horse carts. Crass beyond belief. Horses are part of Polish culture, and the Germans to ridicule horses after taking our fashion of wearing cavalry boots for your army - is just another part of your scheming.

And talk about Poland being poor, when we haven't got the contribution money from you? (I know that Russia took it, but we didn't receive it.)

Tell you a story - in '95 my Father sold a lorry of our product to a German guy named Schroeder. The barbarian thought he didn't have to pay. That's a big problem with German business partners. They steal. We got him through the court

Then they turn around and spread the Goering propaganda about how Poland is inferior.

OK... Not as fantazyjne as shaking the moustache of the foreign King, hehe.

I'm not sure if anyone is interested to know this, but Czech are not really a tame nation of beer drinkers, or at least they weren't in the past.

We have always warred with them and made alliances. Very nice wars they were. The Cities of Spis, Miasta Spiskie, are the rich region that we are on about.

this year the Cieszyn will be united into one city, because up until now we each held a half.
The Hussite Trilogy by Sapkowski gives more detail of brave Czech knights, noble deeds, battles, ambushes, ambassadors, schemes and Princes. Very good read.

History / Ukrainians working in Poland in the 90s [34]

ok, we have some threads around about Brits complaining about Poles. Some points were raised, and this caught my interest: "if Poland had many work immigrants, Poles would react the same".

First of all, Poland has immigrants.
Most notably they were visible in the 90s. They were are Neighbours, the Ukraininas.

Background: after the thaw we have anjoyed very fast economic growth. Suddenly we started to create companies, jobs, etc. (up until Balcerowicz was broken and betrayed the country, turning it into the sad financially exploited colony it is now). Our currency was wrth more to the Ukrainians, and their growth was not so fast. They started coming. MOstly to do refurbishments and construction. Ukrainian doctors were washing floors in Polish houses.

Question - do you remember anti-Ukrainian riots? No? How odd! Apparently Poland has not got this aggression level.

BUt - I'm sure that on personal level not everything was cool. I know that it isn't due to the history, Polish Panowie and Ukrainian Molodcy. It's not cool due to Ukrainians feeling poor, like my maternal Uncle's Wife, Sveta. They still clean here, like my Paternal Uncle's Warsaw house.

What I am saying is that there are no anti-immigrant riots prevalent in our culture. We were never insular. It's OK to work here. Not that moronic people don't live in Poland, they do. But luckily they don't get to rule.

But I am a little chuffed, why would doctors wash floors? It's OK to ratify your diploma, you know? It probably takes 3 months for the Urząd to do it, but you can.

On the other hand, I have started very low in England as well, until I learned a little about their agencies.

UK, Ireland / Brits to protest against foreigners in the workforce, including Poles. [289]

I hired an English plumber to install the heating. He was nice and skilled, charged me 4% more than the Polish guy who lives 2 h drive away. Paid 2k, happy with the result.

I'm having a really hard time finding an electrician - English companies want to charge me 800 for connecting the ceiling to the main fuse box, contractors want 100 but so far had not showed up.No Polish guy available.

plasterers are Polish, great guys. I would have not had ventilation without them. English guys wanted twice as much money to plaster, and wanted to give me ceiling tiles. Bastards. Now have real ceiling

Language / 'MOZNA' - When is this used? [27]

and there were no Germans. all the harder for words to originate from German

Well - if you count the name, ok. I can name my house an Emipre, why not. I can even make it a wooden palisade, put in some fat guys and give them beer. Settled :)

That!

Language / 'MOZNA' - When is this used? [27]

Zman

would you also say that syn is of German origin - Sohn ???

some words are pra-indo-european, we share them.

Take the river Warta, that in German is called Warthe, I think. Warthegau.

The names of rivers are always the oldest names around, they just remain from times immemorial. Warta was once V.rt-a.(virta) From Sanskrit, to spin. Like the Dragon V.rtra.

The dot signifies r as a vowel, pronounced like a long soft tongue exercise.

The same for river Wieprz, the *PIE origin was *Vp.r-a. (vipera) The bigger river, Wisła, Vistula, was *Veisla, and it means the source, like other rivers - Wisłoka etc. Look at the map of Poland, there are other rivers which names are based on *veis. This root is now unused in Polish, but retained in German, which does not mean that Germans named the river. This name is 6-8 thousand years old.

Germanization of history has already been ridiculed. It's good to appreciate the German culture, but to say that everything comes from Alemania is clearly wrong. After all they have only been able to create a strong country when forced to, needed 500 years to win a battle with Poles after Grunwald, and paint everything white. Romans would laugh.

No, I actually WANT to
make it pure. Idiot.

Britain was not ready for war with Germany until 6 June 1944

shouldn't have given guarrantees

Do you know anything about the Battle of Britain?

You mean where the Polish remains fought so that at least you can live? Cham.

Yes, Silesian Uprisings, Posnan uprising - they all never happened and really mean that Polish subhumans were always controlled by nice and clean Germans, since 1200 years. Grow the fcuk up.

Grow up. Your history is warped. Argue with facts all you like but you just look stupid.

So where is your precious Empire? Britain lost the colonies somehow - ooo, they had to be part of the game!

And Hitler hated Poland? Well, january 1938 saw a meeting Beck-Ribbentrop. Hitler admired Piłsudski. War against Poland was one of possible opening moves, not the only one. The anger came later, when Germany was offered an alliance with Soviets, believing that Poland was a lost cause. And rightly - imagine, a country with such a Jewish population joning with Hitler?!

When you are enjoying yourself about how Slavs were to be wiped out, explain to me, how come Germany like the Balkan Slavs, with much the same from them? Are they not Slavs, or is there something you just don't get, when you are feeling all too white?

Poles who stab their allies in the back

Actually it's the Londoner sport - they like to stab Poles in the back. As usual.

They got to him right at the start and set his mind on expansion and living room in the east.

The Reich wanted France. France was to be humiliated for Versaille.

None of that at all anti-semitic.

No, it's war. And if you think that Jew are better than others and can't be touched, while they are being paid by Commies, welcoming Soviets to Poland, and signing up for the party, murdering partisans as UB members, being criminal judges of Stalinist period, enforcing a Minc and Berman regime, you are wrong. Jews have murdered and murdered and murdered.

Then they fled to America.
America wouldn't allow Jews full Americanization until the 60s - trouble at work etc.
Jews still love America, because Poland is Poor and America is rich.
As soon as Poland makes money, Jews are moving back in. Claiming to be murdered by Poles not Nazis.

Jedwabne.

Jedwabne was under Nazi occupation, so sod off. It was the GG at the moment. There were Nazi officers and troops there.

29 Jan 1944 Koniuchy. As per the words of one of the attackers, Chaim Lazar, the aim was to destroy all the population in Koniuchy, Polish Catholics, by the Soviet units, one of whom, Death to Occupiers, was formed entirely of Jews.

Kielce

In a fairly large city full of police all kinds of Soviet uniformed forces, it was allowed to happen - a real, long riot, right? But only 39 Jews and 2 Poles were killed - why not all of them? Surely Poles had to rescue the rest of the Jews, otherwise the sheer hatred would kill them.

You scumbag idiot. all of you. After what the Helmuten done to the Jews, everyone felt for them, even the fiercest nationalists. Up to the present day

POLAND IS NOT DEFENDING HERSELF AGAINST JEWISH SLANDER, POLAND IS NOT TALKING BACK, BECAUSE AS LONG AS THE CAMP SURVIVORS LIVE, WE ARE COMPASSIONATE TOWARDS YOU!!!

The ghetto benches

In the USA up until today there are limits on who many blacks and whites are allowed into education. The cap on Jews was formed so that peasants could get into the university, too. All through the PRL there were negative points for being gentry and positive for being a peasant. It's the same as giving benefits to the poor, while the rest has to work. It's not fair, and I disagree.

The murder of heroes like Leon Feldhendler

Many more heroes in Poland have been murdered. Some by the Jews in the UB. Those same Jews, like Helena Wolińska, a Soviet criminal, who after partial thaw of Communism, have escaped to... the UK, claiming.. Anti-Semitism.
