then you are only trolling. It is good to have believes in you case, but that doesn't change facts about what happened to Jews in Poland.

well I am a known Nazi scum here, haven't you niticed - before you comment on anything read what you want to comment on through and really try to make sure what the author wanted to say or even what s/he actually said (ignore what I just said if you're on a mission to prove some poeple are inherently wrong)

there have been billions of dollars extracted from this country after 1989 and some Jewish circles have been heavily involved (if you treat people like cattle don't be surprised that they don't like you)

true, but the same rules may apply to that as to the rest of the stuff. She should check how long she has to be an owner in order to be exempt from paying the duties. I would not leave anything to chance when it comes to duty officers and the duty law in Poland.

as for additional cost you have to pay the processing fee to the duty office and that should amount to around 800 PLNor so if I remember correctly:). They stuff is usually shipped to Gdynia of you send your stuff by the sea. From there you need to collect it and transport it to your destination. The cost would depend on the distance. She should check that out before leaving Israel too.

yes, they should have all the proper info regarding moving back to Poland. It is called relocation. She is transporting < mienie przesiedlencze" and from that Polish citizens are exempt from paying duty upon crossing the border.

She has to prove that she was living in Israel by showing her paying stubs for the last 12 months (provided she was working) and/ or copies of the bills for rent, electricity, phone bill for the last 12 months, OR/AND an official letter from the consulate that she was a resident of Israel for the last 12 months. I moved over a year back from Canada, had to show the bills. The more she has, the easier it would be getting her stuff clear. Trust me on that. I had some problems in a process, since I was studying in Canada and discarded all the bills. Managed to prove that I was a resident nevertheless.

She should check all the info I have provided with the Polish consulate just to make sure.

One only pays duty on new /unused things, so make sure that even if you buy something new, it looks used:) unpacked from the original package- you don't want to be paying duty on newly purchased stuff. I understand that upon moving people purchase some new stuff to bring into Poland at times, so they duty officers are very diligent when it comes to checking that:)

she should not since she is relocating and it is not taxes but duties we are talking about.

In the past you had to prove you to them that you resided legally outside of Poland for at least a year to obtain the duty waiver...

It is still the case. Polish consulate should have all the info and they require all the bills for the housing in order to prove that one lived abroad for at least last 12 months.

I don't see what the big deal is. Maybe the author wanted to take a personal dig at Poland, but that would mean that he also wanted to take a dig at Sweden and Saudi Arabia. I think that he wanted to show how fast the value of Apple shares is going up. It is an unfortunate comparison, but I would just ignore, as I would ignore a troll on PF.

So what do you grow? How has it turned out? Any tips for me?

well, it depends what you like.

I don' have a garden, but my father does and I help him every year.

He grows cucumbers, carrots, parsley, beets, waxed beens, rasberries, strawberries, some pumpkins and flowers.

He grows tomatoes and lettuce in a hot house every year.

Some people grow potatoes, cabbage and all kinds of other veggies. You can buy all the seeds and start them on your own.
I forgot about onion, garlic and leeks. Also, you can plant fruit bushes such as goosberries black and red currant. Currants turn well in Poland.

Not to mention fruit trees:). Everything I mentioned usually turns out, although it has to be taken care of as well as it need some type of fertilizer. Either natural or not.

Topic like any others to be honest and it is a part of Polish reality.

They simply showed how life in Poland looks like. Truth is always more interesting than propaganda (even positive propaganda).

I agree with that. a.k. doesn't seem to like the truth about Poland, colourful or not.

that would be a little difficult since it is a pretty sealed environment, but there may be a poster here who is able to help you.

Soccer clubs in Poland have official websites- not sure you are interested in those.

Polish supermarket shelves are groaning beneath the weight of every uimaginabler type ofgfake food -- żurejk śląski, żurek z gryzbami, goracy kubek and God kows what all which differ only in haivng a varied chemical content.

people who eat heathy don't buy it, the same as in the US.

Do any of you actually eat such garbage? I tried the gorący kubek spaghetti bolognese once, and that was more than enough.

some people do, just like in the US- it has nothing to do with the nationality.

Have Polish culinary skills fallen so low?

those products are being offered in supermarkets, so some people buy it because Poles don't have lunch time at work:). Those things are popular among students.

In America even people who don't like Poles that much often admit -- 'at least they're good cooks!'

who cares? Just because you make a judgement on anything Polish doesn't mean that Americans do, they probably have better things to worry about.

I cook everything from scratch.

I'm not a religious person myself but calling an act of destroying religious symbols, regardless if this is Bible or Koran or any other sacred book a "resistance against intolerance", must be a sarcastic joke.

you seem to have missed the point of that. That is too bad. That is part of Poland too, isn't it? Missing the point so often.

The regained lands (ziemie odzyskane) have long been known to be a 'zbieranina' (motely collection) of rootless displaced people, and those areas are also known for their pro-leftist sympathies and weaker identificaiton with the Church than other parts of the country.

why, thank you then. Thank God we are not as associated with the Church down here. You have not been in this part of the country then.

Just dug that one out. I am personally not into metal, but Behemoth has been a symbol of the underground resistance in Poland against the present ultra catholic, undemocratic, intolerant groups.

Here is an interview with Orion, another member of Behemoth. There are a few more and he comes across as a very articulate person.

I think she renounced her communist views in the 60s if I am not mistaken. That gave her 50 years of writing.

They are awarded subjectivly and in many cases the decisions were highly criticized...

I am sure you are right, yet that prize is not given just to anybody, so I am not sure what you are trying to say, or rather asking me. I was NOT there.

Yes, I am suggesting that. That is OK though. I don't get many things either:).

the 'cat bit' has nothing profound in it for me - it's a just a plain simplistic unconstructive thought written in plain words

but look at this 'cat bit' for example - is it poetry?

the cat piece is brilliant in my opinion. I read it yeas ago and I was taken by it. It isn't very uplifting because she is talking about death in a non direct way. She had a gift of talking about most painful things in life. It is very difficult to describe poetry or explain it. One either gets it or not:).
