History / Defying Germaniztion in 1901 Polish boy writes 'German girls are ugly' [128]

how can you claim to know from his remarks about German girls, which are disdainful rather than angry, that he wasn't also enraged by the forced Germanization in his school's religion classes?

It is my guess. But humans usually attack that side of the enemy which caused us pain. His obsessive writing about women at that tender age and in the most Catholic environment ever couldn't have just appeared like that.

Nathan me and most Polish men will wholeheartedly agree that German girls are nothing to look at.

Depends on shallowness and your intentions. If you are interested on just looking - then yes, Polish gals are amazing. But if you are interested in living with her, having kids or all together, then I think the situation drastically changes :)

You're not making any sense, Nathan

You are just not interested in getting it. The other day you all of a sudden spilled your poison in regards of UPA and OUN, which was absolutely uncalled for. You often reference my admiration of UPA as ultra-evil and fascist, which is really low on your part. Of course, there were different moments in history, but these soldiers fought for the independence of my country. I am not a bit interested in spilling Polish or any other blood, likewise majority of UPA and OUN soldiers have never wanted or done it. And I bet AK wasn't all that bad either. This is what bothers me. So, if you are so hasty in adjusting to the present, why keep on squirting dirt on the past?

Little Bronek wasn't just interested in history. - The student describes his relationship with girls.

Well, in his age nobody is interested in history ;) He, probably, fell in love with a beautiful German girl and was rejected or had trouble learning a few words in a foreign language to explain his overwhelming feelings. "German women don't know how to make love or live" - pathetic, but what one can expect from a 14-years old? Did he live with them to come to this conclusion? Most likely not. It is interesting that he didn't concentrate his rage on German catechism or forced song-singing, but on a more attractive (externally only) half of our species.

Oh youth! Where art thou? My bones are not what they used to be ;)

Polish minority in Lithuania - doublefacedness or innocence?

My question is:

How high can the Polish minority in Lithuania jump in regards to naming the streets and other municipal divisions in Polish as well as argue with the Lithuanian authorities when the spelling of the names is concerned after having read the following document:

Document about street signs

Should it bother the minority or just shoved as far as possible since it was 70 years ago?
Thanks for your input.
P.S.: Translation:
October 8, 1938 Cieszyn/Těšín (right after the Polish invasion of Czechoslovakia)
.... Names of streets, plazas, parks etc. as well as the names of different firms, institutions, companies etc. notwithstanding their private character must have exclusively Polish pronounciation/spelling.

Language / Ukrainian language similar to Polish? [236]

I am very excited about your interest in learning Ukrainian. Here are some sites that can be of help. Some of them are directly language related, the other are Ukrainian radio stations or poetry:

internetpolyglot.com/lessons-uk-en
ucrainica.info/readukrainian/index.htm
brama.com/news/news_tvradio.html
radiotime.com/region/c_101142/Lviv.aspx
poetry.uazone.net/

Indeed, there is not as much necessary materials, but it slowly changes.

History / Norman Davies - the Brit who loves Poland and becomes one of Us [250]

Exactly, this is what it was - but not a capital.

Oh come on, Nat, you confuse me now :)
Monia, here is some info from Wikipedia about Krakiw:

Kraków has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural, and artistic life and is one of Poland's most important economic centres. It was the capital of Poland from 1038 to 1596; the capital of the Grand Duchy of Kraków from 1846 to 1918; and the capital of Kraków Voivodeship from the 14th century to 1999. It is now the capital of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

Another one:

In 1596, Sigismund III of the Swedish House of Vasa moved the capital of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from Kraków to Warsaw.[27]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krak%C3%B3w

About the facts , if you say something let it be compatible with facts . You can`t formul;ate comments because it is convenient for you .

that`s your misunderstanding of Polish history , you can`t know it just by reading some wiki at random .

PF is a type of a forum where one cannot argue without being either anti-Polish or complete blank tablet about the greatest history the world has ever witnessed.

History / Norman Davies - the Brit who loves Poland and becomes one of Us [250]

Kraków pozostał jednakże oficjalną stolicą Rzeczypospolitej

The capital is the city where the parliament is located:

...a capital is almost always a city which physically encompasses the offices and meeting places of the seat of governmentand is usually fixed by law or by the constitution.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_city

So, where was Sejm located?
The Constitution of the 3rd May was adopted in Warsaw in 1791. The parliament was there before too. That the king liked to spend more time elsewhere is not an indicator of a capital, moreover with liberum veto handy - everyone was a semi-king anyway.

The first constitution mentioning the capital of Poland was the 1952 constitution.

English became recently an official language of the US, if I recall correctly. So, what language was spoken before in the USA? French? The constitution only finalized was wasn't that necessary or thought of before. The older constitutions concentrated predominantly on the rights of the citizens than on the administrative issues.

Warszawa była oficjalnie nazywana "Miasto Rezydencjonalne Jego Królewskiej Mości."

Exactly, this is what it was - but not a capital.

Feedback / Language used here - how come this forum is all in English? [78]

Is there any similar Ukrainian Forum in English? If so, does it stand out for its anti-Ukrainianism?

There are some Ukrainian forums (e.g., ukraine.com/forums) where you'll find people criticizing Ukraine, its people and their history. Oftentimes, those are people from across the border :) (in both directions ;) But there are different people - it is Internet, not GlorificationNet. Look at some of my threads which I intended to post as a sign of friendship with Poland and attempt to find great moments in our history - it was filled in no time by Polish pure-breds with chauvinism and other crap. So, to say that everyone bashes innocent Poles and they like angels defend their holiness, while justifyingly spilling dirt on others is ridiculous.

Any comments on this?

You, probably, just read what some non-Poles say. If you really look at all the threads and what some Poles write, then you might find bashings of people from all over the world. Just don't pretend to be saints cause you are not and don't look for the a splinter in the eye of your neighbor, when there is a log in one's own eye. This ridiculous double-faceness is the major reason for much of critique to which Poles are so hypersensative.

Life / Will Polish people be accepting that im only half polish? [63]

You wouldnt? why not?

I was just kidding, Gary. The question of acceptance seemed a bit strange. I think any society will accept you no matter what origin you have if you agree yourself to accept its values. That's why (pure, no halfs) Polish criminals sit behind bars - they didn't accept the society and what it stands for.

Love / How to survive a relationship in Poland? [42]

Sure. One example would be 5-ARD:

The condition affects only genetic males(that is, those with a Y-chromosome) because DHT has no known role in female development.[2]
Individuals with 5-ARD can have normal male external genitalia, ambiguous genitalia, or normal female genitalia. They are born with male gonads, including testicles and Wolffian structures, but usually have female primary sex characteristics. As a consequence, they are often raised as girls, but usually have a male gender identity.[3][4]

/wiki/5-alpha-reductase_deficiency

Gender is defined by the chromosomal make-up, not the presence of penis or vagina. But I consider that one's gender should be determined from the psychological standpoint of an individual him/herself, not just his or her DNA characteristics.

Plenty time apart

Well, it often ends up in a necessity to shoot your neighbor or best friend like a rabid animal.

'kocham Cię' texts

Only on a checkbook paper. No need to mention those two words either.

well technically if a man had a vagina he would still retain his penis

What kind of logic is that? Man doesn't have to have a penis to be a man.

Not even a nuke would be able to stop the polish winged hussars. Much less, any enemy personell in tanks or even F22's would shiver at the idea of going up against our Hussaria. Poland needs to invest more in horses!

What about navy and aviation? What horses would fight submarines and bombers? Seahorses and pegasuses might be an answer, but again the hussars would lose all the feathers riding either of these. So how do you solve this dilemma? You can't shove it up their rear-ends and pretend they are the hussars or can you? It is not as easy as it seems. I think investment in geese should also be upregulated.

And ploughing fields was so easy back then too and now we use all of this machinery, where's the fun in that? :) I know where you are coming from, but its call progress and just same as anathetic is used these days when taking out teeth or cutting of limbs :) Also you may like to look at the mortality rates back then when these little treasures came along.

I see what you mean and I am all for moving forward with our knowledge. But there are lots of things which are not progress. We use machinery and it made happy many hard-working people in the fields, but at the same time we use chemicals which make our food inedible piece of crap that even intelligent worms are not crazy to munch on. Hence different liver and kidney diseases. Women turned bulemic just because we have a taste for bones, which leads to necessity of anesthetics and other drugs with C-section. True, mortality has been higher, because of non-sanitary conditions of birth, lack of proper medicine and contraceptives, possibly frequent unavailability of parents who had to gain the bread, poor diet etc. But we as a species are becoming weaker immulogically and adaptively as our brain progresses, whether it is forward or backward, is quite arguable.

Seriously, the hospital stuff almost made me feel guilty for not wanting it.

That is a crime. Oftentimes, we are left without reasonable choices just to satisfy the trend of the day. I recently read that cucumbers make people more prone to cancer. How sick do we have yet to get with these research jokes?

1. The stereotype is that mothers have hard time letting go of their sons. They want to have part in the marriage. Wives want their husbands to themselves. But that's not my case.

It is not only sons, but daughters too. Men are usually bastards to her little beautiful princes. My question was why is this pathology more frequently observed in mothers, not in fathers, who rarely have problems with their sons/daughters-in-law? Is this a women "thing"?

her hairy ball-sack being kneaded up and down your abs..?

I agree with Amethyst - what is wrong with your anatomy? I tried to imagine the position and actually looked it up in my Kama Sutra book. It is called 4th phase of the Turning position, not missionary. But again the sack has to be a basketball basket to reach my abs :) But again how my Princess will have balls and vagina at the same time? ;)

to be honest it seems that you are a lowself estem freak.

you are so weak that you began to hallucinate at the point of your low selfesteam.

Maybe, I reached the rock bottom.

TAKE IT LIKE A MAN!

Is it in the as*?

Haha! No deal.

It is hard when you put your heart in it already, before you realized what you are.

You mean, why are they bugging their husbands to help out with the kids and housework?
I honestly have no idea what are you fighting for on this thread.

I don't fight. I just posted a few questions which I am trying to solve:
1.) mother-in-law---daughter/son-in-law conflicts - why is there a female bias?
2.) why female's family is always better (IQly, spiritually, whateverly)?
3.) why preservation of marriages often turn out to be a fight between being oneself and doormat, not a dialogue of 2 people, achieving a compromise?

too bad you aren't a fly on the wall in my house. There are no inadequacies with me nor my two girls.

You know as I read it again I see why you feel this way. I wasn't doubting or talking about women's intelligence or ability to do any type of work. "Success" was meant to denote the creation of hell at home, which gives a feeling of control and power which is impermissible in other extradomicile social interactions.

Im chilled as hell... no demands no stress nice equal partnership

That's so rare and precious. My respect and best wishes :)

Thank you for inventing the epidural :)

You are welcome :) We try our best ;)

Great, an injection that turns you a piece of numb meat and fecks your back up for the next twenty years...thanks guys..:)))

So, why take it??? I think the women became too feminine in the recent years. The propaganda of skinny dystrophics as a symbol of a beautiful woman made the epidural indispensible. Kids used to fall out like apples in the Middle Ages, now we need 6 people to pull out a single treasure.

P.S. Sorry for double post - some tech malfunction.

Nathan, you mention "doormat" far too much sweetie, try and be more assertive and avoid women who are over-controlling - find a nice chilled out lady who has a similar outlook who has a mind of her own and doesnt look to her family for advice for everything she does....

Ok, it turned out now to trying to convince me personally, which is not the case. I am not talking about myself. Again, most of what I said is from observing close to me people. And if it was a single case, I would say: it is rare. But it is not. It is a behavioral feature that is prevailing in many women and I agree with Zimmy in that regard. Just being curious to understand, I would like to ask you, ladies: is it predominantly hormonal, psychological, environmental? Do some women search to assure themselves while feeling inadequate and failing to do it anywhere else, make their "success" especially pronounced at home? Does child-bearing justify women's pseudo-weakness which is often used in completely unrelated issues to the disadvantage of men? Yes, there is a child-birth pain - that's why men invented epidural. But is this pain so bad to blackmail the whole world constantly, before and after?

she's not the one and only Nathan.

That's true. There are quite a few billions ;)

If men could have babies, there would be zero percent population growth. Just ask Zimmy...

But a 0% of happy population growth. It is worth it :)

Love / How to survive a relationship in Poland? [42]

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for support, but I am not in a relationship, at least as of today. Just some experience and observations. It was very interesting, though, that female posters concentrated on the relatives part while man's doormat status escaped their attention so naturally ;)

Did you try to talk to your partner and explain, how you feel?

Do women talk to doormats? Usually they like them, need them to wipe off their feet, but not hear. Oh, no. Man's every word is the word of his mother, because only his partner can have a valid opinion and his opinion could not possibly come from his brain - no way - it's always the in-law's idea.

Are there ever problems with male in-laws on either side? Nope. Only where there are two women: older and younger and both stupid, which is usually the case, which makes the life of the two families miserable.

never get it started to begin with? ;-)

It is tough. If some men had vaginas and could bear a kid, I wouldn't even think twice, but, unfortunately this is not the case :(

seems to be the obvious option.

Hang oneself? Become a gay? It is not so obvious.

It can't, more than a milion people would lose their jobs, thats enough to collapse ukrainian society given that the army is one of the few things that holds Ukraine together.

When have you seen the last time tanks on Ukrainian streets, historian? In Lviv it was in 1944 :) Army doesn't hold our society.
Regarding the jobs: when people are doing nothing, producing nothing and getting money, how worse can it be to have them work for a bit more, but producing something?

Ukraine for example has almost twice the tanks Poland has but only 300-500 of them are capable of even driving from point A to point B

If B is Poland, all of them will get there, no worries ;)

How one makes one's sub-relatives worthy to sit at the feet of your partner's super-intelligent, kind and better family? How make the things work when your part of the deal is to be a doormat and keep your mouth always shut? How to be yourself with the chain at your neck ending at your partner's ankle, partner whom you love? What Poles or others do?

I don't know how reliable that data is. For Ukraine they put 1 million active reserve and Poland has 20,000. Either we are crazy or our military reserves are far overblown. Anyhow, I don't know much about military stuff.
