History / Alexander the Great - Macedonski. Poland connection? [254]

I think there is not any problem with the name of the country.

But, it is obvious that Alexander is not a slavic hero.

Will Greece recognize Macedonia republic if they find their slavic hero and remove Alexander's statue ?

History / Alexander the Great - Macedonski. Poland connection? [254]

If name Macedonia was very important for you and symbolizing your soul, why did not you name your country as Macedonia instead of Hellas :)

or you could say Macedonia & Hellas Rep. like Bosnia & Hercegovina. You missed this chance my friend.

History / Alexander the Great - Macedonski. Poland connection? [254]

It is known that proto-bulgars were a Turkic tribe. Even ethimologically word bulgar is Turkish and means mature.

But they mixed with slavs, forgot their former language and slavizised.

Today, if I say a Bulgar, he is a Turk in fact, I am quite sure he will not accept it and even he will get angry.

This DNA researches is bs. It is a racial approach and do not have any effect on people.

The main factors for being a member of a nation is mother tonque and what he/she feels himself.

History / Alexander the Great - Macedonski. Poland connection? [254]

I visited Macedonia 2 years ago. I did not see any Greek there. Ethnic composition is % 64 Macedonians (slavs), % 25 Albanians, % 4 Turks, % 2,5 Roma, % 2 Serbs.

It was Hellenic in the past but today nothing left.

Slavs adopted the Greek origin word Macedonia for their country. Good for Greeks.

Greeks may say proto-macedonians were Greek. It is possibly true. But today's macedonians are mostly slavs.

Genealogy / Mongolian the Golden Horde - do Poles have Mongolian ancestry? [256]

They made it few time to strike deeply into territory of Poland and Hungary. It was in 13th and 14th after that the only Tatars attacking Polish Territory (now part of Ukrainian) came from their settlement on Crimea and those attacks were nothing more than rides to rob or steal people to sell them on Ottoman Empire slave markets. So if there were DNA admixture it was on the Ottoman Turkish and Tatar population not the other way around or seldom.

Huns, Avars, proto-bulgars and Khazars were the Turkic folks who had lived in that geography. On the other hand, Ottomans ruled Crimea, Podolia, todays Odessa, and east of crimea that means almost all the South parts of Ukraine. So Ironside, you need to read a couple of books too :)

History / Khazar migrations to Eastern Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine [106]

Turks knows very well that Khazars are Turkic Jews. They are not semitic ethnically.

I ignore what Anti-Semitic Turks "know".

I am talking about an historical reality. Khazars were Turkic and they choose judaism.

There have to be still some communists in Poland for sure.

I am quite sure Turkey will offer for the failed countries to leave euro zone temporarily. They could return when they recover. If it is not accepted Turkey would act like Britain.

Life / How many ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN POLISH in Poland? [40]

There are christians living in muslim countries too. This does not prove anything.

Turkey is a candidate for decades. Do you know how many new members accepted to EU during this time. All of these countries are weaker than Turkey by all aspects.

EU even accepted half of Cyprus as the representative of all Cyprus which shows her view very clearly.

We Turks and Europeans know that this is a funny theatral game. Turkey will never be a member. Honestly, we do not care either.

Most of the Europeans are religious, conservative and some of them are seriously racist.

I completely agree with you. We have to improve trade and direct investments between us. Both countries have this potential.
Thanks for the links.

Turkish tea is one of the symbols of Turkish friendship.

American author Katherine Branning who wrote a book about Turkish tea tells it perfectly at the link below.

History / History behind Poland and Turkey's Relationship [118]

I think they will have chance of being in the first pot in group stages as a host country. That means countries like Spain, Germany, Netherlands will not be in Poland's group. They have to use this chance.

Have you travelled a lot in Europe Seanus ? Any plan for visiting Turkey ?

History / History behind Poland and Turkey's Relationship [118]

I did not follow their preparation and friendly matches but I can not say Poland is weak football country when I take into consideration their past performances. I remember very good players like Lato, Boniek, Zmuda, Smolarek.

If they can pass group stage, everything can happen.
