Genealogy / Is tallness common among Polish people? [201]

when in August?

Taste of Polonia is during Labor Day Weekend. If I'm not mistaken it starts on Friday
and ends on Monday night. I looked at my 2007 calendar and if I'm correct it should be
Aug 31st to Sept. 3rd.

When they post the schedule of events..I'll post the info here.

In my family we are all tall except for my Mom..she is tiny compared to the rest of us.
She wears petit clothes and still has to have her slacks shortened. I'm 5'7" and my
brother is 6'6"

Love / Is Indian/Polish relationship possible? [370]

Death certs and social security apps are helpers KB

because they knew their own parents and they lists parents names

My father-in-law was only 50 when he passed away many years ago..on his death certificate it doesn't have any info about this parents.

My mother-in-law passed away a few years ago but unfortunately we didn't have any
contact with her since 1986..it was her choice not to see us. It's a very difficult situation with my hubby's family..he has 3 younger brothers and a sister. We

see the sister once in a while, last time was in 2005. We see one of this brothers but
the two youngest ones we haven't seen in more than 15 years. We didn't even know
that she had passed away until 2 months afterwards when we received in the mail
a Holy Card with her death information..sent from one of his brothers but no return address was included, not even a note of any kind. I felt so sad for my hubby when he

read the card..but in his heart he knew that it would be this way.

Love / Is Indian/Polish relationship possible? [370]

I've been trying to do our family geneaology but unfortunately my hubby won't let me
put too much personal info into cyberspace.

I got as far as my grandparent's parents in names but not when they were born/died
and locations.

On my hubby's side unfortunately we don't have any info since both his parents have died and they never spoke of their families..sadly my hubby never knew anyone related

to him. All we know is that is Mother was Polish and his Dad was Ukrainian..but we don't even know what Mother's maiden was. Neither of his parents had any contact with

their families after coming to America

Life / Are Polish people open to others? [20]

If they see you have money their mouths won't stop talking.....

LOL..is it a Polish thing to tell people what you paid for something..for instance I always
have to tell my Mom that I don't need to know what she paid for her new shoes or whatever. I have to laugh when my Mom and her friends get together and talk about

who has what and what they paid for it..too funny, like they are competing with each other...Oh! and don't get them started on talking about illnesses :)

Maybe they don't know that typing in upper case is considered SHOUTING :)

My cousin and his wife adopted a little baby girl from Poland some years ago, but I don't
know any details.

UK, Ireland / Your opinion about cheap and easy Polish Girls in UK? [30]

It's not nice to generalize about a whole population of women from Poland, England or anywhere in the world.

Every country will have "Easy" women..some because of circumstances not of their choosing.

In today's world with so many sexually transmitted diseases I would think that everyone would be selective.

Life / Customs - First Holy Communion in Poland [42]

First Holy Communion is a big celebration in Poland, usually a party after the church service. Probably very similar to what everyone does in the USA. My grandson will be

having his First Communion this May also and I got him a really nice figurine of a boy kneeling as a rememberance, my Mom got him a rosary that she purchased in the Holy Land...for a little girl there are so many neat gifts you can pick up here...and also Cash is always welcomed..kids love Cash.

If you have any local Polish stores in your area, they usually have Polish First Communion Cards. Or you can check online for Polish Cards/Gifts or you can wait till you

get to Poland and meet the little girl and get to know what she likes.

USA, Canada / Polish language classes in Chicago or surrounding area? [44]

At one time Northern University in DeKalb had Polish classes. Elgin is not that far away from DeKalb. You can check out the university website and see if they still offer Polish classes.
