News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

What sane investor will want to put their money in a country where they know the courts are simply an extension of the governmnet

Sounds nice in theory but reality is a bit more complex than the blinkered world of wild-eyed PO fanatics. (They provided a sample of their class, parliamentary sophistication and decency last night at the committee meeting.)

Indeed, the rating agencies got duped by all the oppositon hoopla at the turn of 2015-2016 and the downturn temporarily gave some potential investors second thoughts. But it soon turned out that Poland's eocnomy was indeed robust and all the "pro-trough" ballyhoo by the poor losers had no bearing on doing buiness in Poland. All eocmomic indicators are growing: production, export, investments, GDP, falling are unemployment and the budget deficit which has scored a surplus for the first time. As a hard-nosed capitalist, you know better than anyone that this is true. When there is money be made, most entrepreneurs try to keep at least a barge-pole away from any fractious politicking. Sure, if the rebels started blowing up bridges and rail-lines and taking hostages, that would be a different story.

Waving the PRL card is ridiculous considering the opposition has not said what should be do be about the still active judges who had sentenced dissidents and Solidarity activists to jail during PRL. Nor has the opposition explained why all the ex-SB and TW types have flocked to their banners and why they (the opposition) are covering their behinds. Obviously to swell the ranks of their supporters.

democracy according to PO

PO's definition of democracy. "THAT IS WHEN WE ARE IN POWER. When we get voted out of office for 8 years of scamaster misrule, mismanagement and dipping in the till, we will resort even to violence to overthrow the legitimate, democratically elected authorities. Full stop!

If he loses it so easily

I wonder how you would react if someone started abusing your dead mother. Twins have an even greater attachmnet to one another than to parents. Kijowski, Shcetyna and Petru are constantly losing their cool.

Anybody watch the proceedings of the Judicial and Human Rights Committee last night? It was pure chaos, confusion and bedlam, like a cross between a bunch of drunken sailora and market day in a Polish village. Onyl worse. Shouting, screechingn, chanting, thumping, scattering papers, tearing the mike from the chairman and a general hubbub that made deliberaitons impossible. And there are perhaps a thousand amendments to vote on. It is 12.15 (past midnight) at the moment and only one amendment has been voted on. The whole sorry spectacle would turn

anyone off from politics. Good night to all!

News / 60% of Poles say Szydło's government should resign [238]

sealing the PiS junta's fate for ever.

Dream on fairyland denizen, dream on! In any new election Kukiz woudl replace PO as No.3, Petru might just barely make it over the wire and PSL would be turned out to pasture.

Nie wycierajcie swoich mord zdradzieckich nazwiskiem mojego świętej pamięci brata

Don't wipe your treacherous mugs with the name of my late lamented brother.
It was all a planned provacation. Schetyna said emotions should be whipped up inside and outside rhw Sejm, Budka knew references to Lech woudl provoke Jarek who lost his cool. Then PO MPs ran up to his bench and started quarreling with him. Then the PO MP Lenc got pushy and fisticuufs could have broken out if soemone had poked him back. If it had turned into a general fracas, Sejm officials would have had no choice but to call in the Sejm Guards. The total opposition types with their smartphones would have filmed the brawl and sent abroad photos showing uniformed "PiS Gestapo" beating the poor, abused opposition. Deputy Sejm Marshal (speaker) Joachim Burdziński said. "If we hadn't calmed things down down, the putsch scenario might have come to pass. They tried it already last Decmeber but made fools of themselves and left in disgrace ."

It hasbeen obvious since late 2015 that the main purpose of successive outbursts has been to overthrow the government and disregard the democratic will of Polish voters. Pretexts were easily found -- logging, horses, this or that piece of legislation, the Tribunal business, now the Supreme court....

But the oppositon may be in for a surprise if snap elections are ever called.. The more they rant, the better PiS do in the polls. The latest one shows PiS with 41% backing.

Often when looking for some cointroversial incident I get that message. But it's been only maybe 6 months or so. Before then that had never occurred. BTW how does one delete a post on PF?

IT staff is crap

I was looking for info on yesty's scuffle in the Sejm and about 4 different soruces ended up this way. It looked like the info had been "pulled", the way Wałęsa's 1992 admission to being an SB agent was withdrawn from PAP half an hour later.

Polish pro-democracy protester

The ranks of hte pro-trough rumpus raisers trying to restore the long defunct status quo when PO scmasters (of VAT fraud, AmberGold and real-estate scam fame) ruled the roost, are thinning day by day. Aside from self-styled "total opposition" activists, anti-government media and those like judges and ex-SB types with a vested interest in restoring the past, there are fewer and fewer regulars who have seen that the ranting and chanting has produced zilch, nada, rien du tout, nic, nichts, nichevo! In fact, the rabble rousers have accomplished only one thing: WASTING MORE TAXPAYER MONEY ON RESULTANT POLICE SECURITY BILLS.

It seems however that some on PF have failed to face up to reality and prefer to live in their make-believe fairyland where crooks like Tusk are heroes and sterling patriots such as Kaczyński are villains. There's no law against it, lower-case!

News / Head of Poland's Supreme Court Gersdorf charged with corruption [15]

the courts in Poland continue to be independent

Independent of public scrutiny, above the law, inept, sluggish, ineffective, self-serving and controlled by the post-commie hand-washes-hand mafia which protects PRL judges who sent dissidents to jail not only from prosecution but even from losing theri jobs. The exisitng judiciary is one of the nastiest professional communiies in Poland and warrants a thorough-going sanacja which is fortunately indeed now taking place.

bill demolishing the indpendence

Duda's move was a straightforward stroke of genius which even Schetyna nad Petru have welcomed. And a way out of the clinch. Requiring a 3/5 majority to appoint KRS memberst means no single party can appoint them without the cooperaiton of other parties.

ordering his puppet

Just as Komorowski had corruption charges against Gersdorf dropped and appointed her to head the Supreme Court, knowing he and his scamster camp would have a loyal servant for the duration. BTW tell us how many tmes the Supreme Court refused to withdraw the immuntiy of PRL holdover judges who didn't just apply (like you claim KAczyński did) but actually sent dissidents and Solidarityity activists to jail? They had no business adjudicating in free Poland but the High Court saved their a*se. And this is the kind of scum you are defending? Shame on you! Go back where you came from. There's much more of your beloved multi-culti back home in Britistan.

News / Head of Poland's Supreme Court Gersdorf charged with corruption [15]

Małgorzata Gersdorf, head of the Supreme court, is banging on about democracy as well as free and independent courts and virulently attacking PiS, but the real reason has become obvious. PO had no hangups about sweepng it all under the carpet, but with PIS oen never knows. She was charged with corruption in 2012-2014, but President Komorowski had the charges dropped in 2015 while still in office so he he could get her appointed. The charges were not important, What counted was to have "our woman" strategically placed at a time when the PiS victory appeared quite likely. PO had also stacked the Constitutional Tribunal with its appointees, hoping to knock down any legislation PiS managed to pass.

So the "total opposition's" rogues' gallery has expanded to include Pani Pierwsza Sędzia Małgorzata.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

Is there a reason

homophobic slur
PiSmophobic slurs are even worse and far more common--every single day round the clock. Homo is simply for identification. Would you prefer something more graphically explicit like sodomist mayor, prevert mayor or deviant mayor? I am not a PC backer so I avoid their senseless euphemisism and do not call that kind happies, jollies, gays or some such nonsense.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

Merged:

Duda 20 points ahead of Tusk in presidential poll, survey shows

With all their rumpus-raising the PO are actually shooting themsleves in the foot and turning potential voters off. Not long ago, a survey showed that Duda would beat Tusk for president 52-48. But in view of all the subsequent ballyhoo support for PO's logical candidate is falling. A recent survey which asked who will be the next president of Poland showed the following results:

Duda - 45%, Tusk - 25%, Biedroń (homo mayor of a coastal backwater) - 8%, Kukiz - 5%, Komorowski - 4%, Cimoszewicz - 4%, Korwin-Mikke - 3%, Owsiak - 2%, Petru - 2%,
This was an open survey where respondents were asked to write in the the name of their preferred candidate.

we're rapidly approaching the point

We're rapidly approaching the point where the so-called total opposition will pant, chant, rant and rave, spew their venom, blow their silly little red horns and wave their tastelessly insulting placards and then go home to watch a match, enjoy supper, vsit a pub or exercise the dog. And its been going on since even before the election when the brother of judicial murderer Stefan warned of impending fascism and has been ranting and PiS-bashing ever since. BTW did you see and get close enough to to Michnik to kiss his behind? The big phoney was ranting against the nasty commie-era judges and prosecutors who signed the pre-packaged verdicts and sentences handed to him but conveniently failed to mention his own brother Stefan who has Polish blood on his hands. Then when someone approached Adam and asked: "When are you going to apologise for your brother the murderer?" he showed all his class and elegance by replying: "Ty skurwysynu, jak ty zmądrzejesz!" Rush to Google translate!)

actually milling about in crowd of several thousands one cannot get the full overview provided by live TV coverage highlighting the word and activities of different agitators and hotheads.

Anyway, there will be more such Muppet Shows featuring the same tired faces of political has-beens and an increasingly diminishing army of regulars and semi-professional protesters. Schetyna predicted 100,000 would show up but only 4,700 actually did. Next time there'll be even fewer until finally the whole thing peters out and Poland will enter an at least 20-year period of good-change Law and Justice rule. And dzięki Bogu for that!

@Atch

handed it to them on a plate in 1918

I beg your pardon, Madam, Poland continued the fight to secure its borders until 1922. You have sureły heard of the Wielkopolska Insurrection, the Silesian Uprising, the Polish-Bolshevik war, Gen. Haller's Army (inclduding thousands of PolAm volunteers) recapturing Lwów and parts of eastern Galicja and General Żeligowski's foray into Central Lithuania. There were no silver plates or platters, believe me! Ask Mr Atch, he'll tell you. And please give him my best pozdrowienia.

what extreme situation you think Poland is in

Being robbed blind by the post-commie elites, many of whom in the early 1990s should have been prosecuted for their commie-era crimes (including martial law), forced to return their ill-gotten gains including years of dipping in the till and abnormally high old-age pensions and/or barred from public office for at least ten years and/or forced to return their ill-gotten gains such as inordinately higher than average incomes.

majority of Europeans

I agree. It is the poltical and media elites that are promoting the anarcho-leftist-liberal-libertine-LGBT-atheist-globalist-PC agenda and trying to force it down everyone's throat. Most people just do the best they can and live their lives. If they were really consulted about the nitty-grity of things, for instance via referenda, the situation would doubtless be far different. That was proved by Brexit as well as the victories of Trump, Orbán and Kaczyński as well as the rise of patriotic rightist movements in Austria, Denmark, France and elsewhere. That shows growing public disaffection with the dictatorship of the same old lefist-liberal elites.

home-grown variety

What do you think of Piłsudski? A ruthless, bloody dictator? Or the saviour of Poland? He was definitely authoritarian but without that there would be no Poland today. Extreme situaitons usually require resolute action.

Poland has gone through a quarter-century of Soros-insired Balcerite robber-baron sell-offs of the country's industrial assets and the wholesale takeover of the economy by foreign banks, retail chains and assembly plants. Then we've had 8 years of Platforemr scamsterism whose fraudsters cost the country billions in unpaid VAT next to which Ambergold pales in comparison. All that was grist to the mill of the elkitist post-commie mafia which lvied in the lap of luxury while ordinary Poles had to struggle to get by or emigrate. Woudl a rerun of Tusk-style "warm tap-water" rule have resolved those problems. Maybe Ireland is too small and feckless to stand up to their British overlords and the Brusselcrat dictatorship, but thankfully Poland is not!
