Food / Best slimming products in Poland? [27]

Polish people do not eat pies

Really? No pastry whatsoever? Hmmmmmmmmmm...I had apple pie in Poland...Szarlotka....yum yum yum...

but of course you knew that because you are clever

Oh yes I am..Evidently, you are not ;0)

Can you all suggest which are the best obesity & slimming products used by most of them in Poland pls?

For fear of sounding rude, eat veg and meat, and normal portions and exercise..slimming products are only a quick fix...you'll put the weight on when you go back to old habits, its about life style changes and choices..only you can do it, not a drink in a can..

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

i would say that slavic women have a very distinctive advantage over non slavic women... :)

The French are not Salvic, but they seem to breed good looking women...(and men!)...

more like a Latin American prostitute than anything else

What a rotten thing to say..How many Latin American pozzies do you know? To me she looks mixed race, the absolute double of my friends sister-in-law who is half Jamacan...

Love / English Men vs Polish Men [207]

when a guy looks at a girl for more than 5 seconds, he's definitely thinking something. Therefore, he must have been afraid or shy to say hello.

Maybe looking at the hot chick in the low cut top who was behind you? Trust me, English men in general are NOT shy...

Yes.. except around men's toilets.

You been cottaging recently then Pete? ;0)

Language / Naming / Nicknames for Aleksandra or Alexandra? [24]

what if the kid won't live in Canada?
people have some weird names and are asked to spell them all the time... not only foreigners... how many spellings can there be of one name? many.
don't exaggerate.

If you get your name spelt wrong on a daily basis (I do) its frustrating....Alexandra is the Western spelling..so why not make the kids life easy and spell it that way if they are going to live in a none slavic country...As for how many ways:

My name is Shelley, here are a few that people have come up with over the years!

Shelley (perfect 10/10)
Shelly (annoying!)
Sheley (wtf)
Shelee (wtf?)
Sheila (yeah, I think some people are deaf!)
Chelley (this was the most recent)

Amathyst, for as many times as I've read your response, I can't make sense of it.

Sorry, I misread your post, I thought you said "wait till he grows up" not where they grow up, apologies..But I think if she intends to live in Canada, she should go with the x ....

By the way Aleksandra or Alexandra would be female :D ...Either way a lovely name, my nephew is an Alexander, good strong male name! :)

Why wait till she grows up, it's not going to change anything, blimey, my name is an old English name yet people always spell it wrong!

I'd go with x spelling and save the poor child a life of frustration...take it from someone who knows :)

History / Why have Poles contributed so little to Academics? (Particularly Science) [180]

This thread still going ?Do not tell me that some troll keep you going for weeks?

But it's always nice to prove people wrong, which he has been, several times - some poeple dont seem to think there is life outside of their own back yard and if they haven't heard much about a country then there cant be anything worth while about that country...Ignorance is bliss :)

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

But its always our fault! and no doubt Sheep would have come along and made up a good excuse, Ive been working with Scots for about 2 months and the lack of accountability is staggering...One even blamed the trashing of Manchester city centre on Manchester city council..it had nothing to do with drunken rangers fans!!!!!

Maybe the child they murdered in the name of Ireland was oppressing them somehow.

They killed two, Tim Parry and Jonathan Ball.

RIP, gone but not forgotten...Tim Parry's father actually helped the peace process.

why the British divided the island.

Because they're idiots...dont think for one moment that any sane Brit is proud of what the government of that time did.

I think the IRA could have gone about things in a different way - they should have been more strategic in their attacks, not one person was killed in Manchester and very few were hurt, but they devistated the city and caused millions of £'s worth of damage - this was a real win for them Id have said.

at least the muslims have the good grace to vapourise their sick little arses at the same time as they murder, your heroes RN all hid like little girls...

You cant even put the IRA in the same bracket as terrorists and they are somewhat justified in their attacks on the mainland, 100s of years of occupation and persecution by the English being 2 of them. Im not a sympathiser, but I understand their reasons, if someone invaded my country and did what the English did over there, I think I'd fight back.

Love / Do young Polish ladies 17-23 speak any English? [59]

I've never played the race card at all.

You automatically did that when you mentioned racism..

I ... KNOW I will be accepted, 100%

Then why ask?

I Also did history as well so I know about the whole involvement of Poland during WW1/WW2 and USA and so on.......

What about France or Holland? Their involvement was integral to our winning...Maybe start with a visit there if you're that interested in WWII...Arnhem or visit these places if you're that interested in WWII:

britishwargraves.co.uk

It's ACTUALLY legal for me to work behind a bar, so long as I'm being supervised WHILST pouring drinks, I can serve them without supervision. You need to update yourself knowledge sir.

you wouldnt be allowed to serve alcohol.......supervised or not! Please read carefully what you are googling!

How strange that black people and mixed raced people bang on about acceptance, yet they're happy to play the race card to their own advantage...

I'd love to know what the OP finds so wonderful about Poland..Why not Hungary or the Czech Republic or Slovakia or Russia..All so rich in history...with beautful cities...(well maybe not Slovakia!)

UK, Ireland / We live in the UK; my husband is not legal in England [47]

I live in uk,i have husband, who is not ligal in england. We get marry on monday(5th september 2011) he dont have work permision, nothing,we was waiting for decision about his legacy case.He was going every friday to police station,to singh, this friday homme office catch him, they arrest him,now they move him to some place,I dont know what i can do,im afraid that they can move him back to his country.please can someone help me?

He will be able to apply EU family permit when he gets back to his home country (him being an illegal here and being deported will not affect this), you should have done this in the first place - marrying an illegal immigrant does not make them legal, Im sure the same applies in your home country, so I dont know why you thought it would be different here?

My advice would be for you to go back to Poland and apply for it there, exercise your treat rights in your home country for 6 months with him as your spouse and then if you still want to come back to the UK then do so, but legal this time.

CAB office do not have legally trained staff - they wont really be able to help.

An immigration solicitor will take £1,000s off you and will only advise you to go down the same route I have.

It will be a long process (could take months) but if you are a genuine couple then you will see it as being worth the trouble.

History / 'Battle of Britain' won thanks to Polish aces !! [158]

No,unlikely only because the uniforms were different.
Poles were very popular with the women of the UK and had a reputation as lotharios :)

Never heard any of my grannies speak about them, nor any of my friends grannies...twas always the Americans and the Canadians...and yes unforms were a big thing I was going to mention that since most if not all went out in uniform in those days..so I will say again...it was unlikely that British women went for Polish men because of the reason that Zdarizs said which was because of their heroics!..Im not sure where you get the whole Polish men had a rep because Ive never ever heard any stories about them....Im off to a friend that lives in a village in Derby tomorrow will ask her...I know loads of Poles settled there..but doubt there's an RAF connection though...just local girls that met foreign men...same old same old...

(and some Brits in general) pretended Polish accent to get dates with British chicks :)

Highly unlikely, it was the Canadians and the Americans they were interested in, simply becuase they were flash and could get certain items that were rationed (nylons and chocolate! - tis a ways so a womans heart!)...Acts of bravery were secondary...

UK, Ireland / Why Poles will never belong in England [283]

ALL English, Germans as well as other Northern Europeans were Catholics prior to Henry (including Scandinavia) .

Really? I think you might find there were a fair few pagans about and Henry VIII set up the Church of England, which was based on Lutherism, which was started by Martin Luther, who was a German.

USA, Canada / Moving from United Kingdom to USA. Is it worth it? [136]

Pete, my friend had a 4 bed detached house in the UK with a large garden, she has a house twice the size in Canada for the same money :D She also said Canada is cheaper than the UK...so the US must be cheap if you think Canada is expensive.

Oh we can get a large pizza in the UK with the works for about what you paid, but thats because there's a junk food place on every corner now with 2 4 1 offers..

Pete London is just another capital city, expensive, crime ridden, but great night life and loads to do...unless you are uber rich forget it, a friend of mine is paying £2,000 per month on a 2 bed apartment, thats circa. $3,500, that doesnt include council tax or utility bills, just rent...

Oh about the health cover, one never knows whats round the corner, if I ended up like one of our board members did, I'd be fully taken care of for how ever long it took, the rest of my life if that was the case, not for as long as my insurance covered it.

UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK not a problem as far as i can tell [79]

Very, they see no problem in becoming immigrants themselves but they have an issue with immigrants - pretty amazing!:D

Brits have to score points to gain entry to Aus - they cant just go and get a job, there is strict criteria, therefore those that go are highly skilled or have a large amount of cash in order to set up a business - so its not that amazing really, also its an ex colonly which we built :)

Face the truth, most voters cannot find the way to their own ass without a guide, do you believe they would vote differently eh?
They would be bought in by a propaganda and politicians, some warning voices on the fringes of public life would be laughed at and forgotten.

I believe that the open door policy would not have come about had we been given a vote, that I can say for sure.

Did you enjoy an economical boom and so called growth since 1989? Eh?

I havent enjoyed the way wages have been driven down and public services have become burdened - I personally havent gained, but Im sure a lot of business have due to cheap labour.

It was partly on Poland's expense as well - now let that sink in Missy!

Have a LOT of Poles enjoyed purchasing properties back home with the ££'s they earned?

Oh, my God. How such an intelligent guy can say such unintelligent things, I wonder?

Best not too.

5.5 million British citizens living as expats around the world today, and a large number of them do so in order to avoid having to encounter the kind of uneducated drivel that you are spouting, the same uneducated drivel that got close to a hundred young people murdered in Norway.
(Those 5.5 million Brits live happily abroad in civilised nations that don't blame them for wanting to be there, too)

Actually people leave for all different reasons, main reason being problems with immigration - ironic isnt it :) Also most if not all Brits that emmigrate do so with a large wedge in their pocket to purchase property and take their skills with them...How many cleaners and bar maids emmigrated to Aus last year and sent for their sick elderly relatives whilst sending home half their money?

By the way define "Brit" there are plenty who have "acquired" passports who have only had to spend 6 years in on this Island!

Actually yes, we did. There was a vote to join the common market, and as it progressed to being the EU, every political party made their opinions clear in their election manifesto.

When was that Jonny? Did we get a vote on the enlargement? Did we really have any kind of a choice? The EU was a very different matter when we joined, it was about trade not mass immigration.

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

Perhaps all those children all looked "healthy" to you because you compared them to yourself.

Do a zumba class, a circuit training class and go running a couple of times a week...also have a balanced diet...nowt wrong me matie, Ive also never had to move across the globe so I can pull a "normal" sized attractive bloke! No offence take by your comment, it would seem you dont have a clue about me :) There's also a picture of my body post in the show you face thread..Im toned and holding my own!

I still think you are exaggerating about the size of Polish women - whilst their may be a rise in numbers of fatties, doesnt mean Poland is going to turn into some fat nation..

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

Isnt all this a slight exaggeration - its been a while since I was in Poland (5 years) but saw no evidence of an abudance of fat kids or even chubby, they all looked healthy and normal.

I had to leave my homeland because of too many fat broads.

Im sure there were plenty of slim ones too, maybe you just dont reach the mark to get a nice girl in your homeland though, not trying to be nasty here, just surmising (bit like fat bald middle aged Brits who go to Thailand for a bride :) )

USA, Canada / Moving from United Kingdom to USA. Is it worth it? [136]

London is a nice place for a hard working horse but it's not the best place under the sun to grow up (I mean my children...).

London is not the only place in the UK to live, plenty of nice villages to raise children that are accessible to cities, again not just London...

Have a look at the points calculator for Aus and see if you qualify, but please be aware major cities in Aus house prices are expensive and cost of living is not cheap either...

How about Canada instead of the US? A friend of mine emigrated there (she already had citizenship having lived there most of her childhood) with her family (she has two little boys) and she loves it and will never come back to the UK.
