Life / How could things have gone so wrong (Poland church dress code) [195]

Its normal for women to have bare legs yet still dress appropriately. You are judging her while criticising others for judging you.

Sorry Barnster, dont think you got it! I was saying that she was dressed inappropriately as she was wearing a very short skirt, not the fact that she had bare legs. She should have bben wearing a knee lenth skirt, not looking like she had just left a disco.

Very odd

Do you read ur Bible Barnster?? If you did you would see how the Church has completely destroyed the message of the word to suit their own needs. Please read the New Tesatament then get back to me on that one. Why did Christ die???

Surely the resurrection no?

No, he hadnt quite risen on Saturday, again read ur Bible

As long as you live in a society, you mustn`t forget about others

I know and I would never offend others or encroach on anyones rites, but my point is that thye were more concerned with what I was wearing than the message of Easter. DO you read ur BIble Pawian???

What is ur opinion of women wearing mini-skirts to Church?

would you judge somebody who's wearing a sweather on a beach? what would you think?

no, its their freedom of chioce to wear what they want. I get sick of the rules of the church eg. I cannot take mass because I am not a 'certified' Catholic. Someone tell me where Christ, at his last supper said that I couldnt take the mass. He said "this do in rememberance of me" He invited all who need his grace and mercy to partake in Holy communion until the day he shall return and take his faithful with him.

Do Catholic priests even know this?????

if you don't care about a dress code, just go for it and do it naked.... and why not?

beacause the laws of the II republic of Poland dictate that I cant walk in Public places naked. THe church has no such rules, well CHrist certainly didnt leave his disciplres with any - well maybe one "go now make fishers of men"> he ceretainly didnt say "My Peter, my rock, go now and make sure everyone adheres to a dress code when they come forth into my house".

So why allow nudity on beaches?

I spent this long weekend on the beach in Rowy with my wife and kids and we did not wear a stitch the whole time, because we were given a choice. Noone judges us (everyone else was in the same situ) and I felt more comfortable there than I ever have in Church here in Poland.

are you walking naked on a street?

Wearing shorts is hardly naked. I am more offended by the old women in church who judge otheres rather than listen to what the Priest has to say. If you picked up a BIBle once in your life, you would realise what I am saying to you.

What if I was wearing trousers and hated God??? Would that be showing respect to the Church??? HAlf of the people in there dont want to be there, if they could be honest with themselves for just a moment.

Life / How could things have gone so wrong (Poland church dress code) [195]

I was dragged along to Church this Easter and just happened to be wearing shorts, as the weather dictated. As soon as I walked into the Church, I was greeted with an extremely frosty reception, old ladies tutting, stares and a good telling off during my exiting the building. All the while, 2 pews across from me was sat a woman who I can only describe as being dressed like a S**t, as the weather dictated. She, as can be predicted, didnt receive the same reception as myself.

What has the Church come to when, during the time we commemorate the death of our Lord Jesus, all people are concerned about is whether my legs are covered. Jesus came to preach against the practices of the Pharisees, who just cared about how they looked in the eyes of other worshippers. It seems the Pharisees are back.

Poland let the hold the Church has on you disappear, this way you will be able to compete in the modern world

News / Drug Policy Reform in Poland [29]

No probs sheepman. Ur the only one on here who is not afraid to stand up and voice an opinion, whether it be concerning Isreal or Smolensk. I respect that you go against the grain and refuse to accept the widely accepted. (I concur with ur opinions on 9.11). Keep up the good work

The whole thing does work on scare tactics, I agree - and not many people are tough enough to be prepared to sit it out. People will sign anything under pressure - if they're handed a statement after 4 hours of questioning and told to sign it and they can go, what are they gonna do?

Thts the thing they cant keep u there for 4 hours. They cant handcuff or detain you in any way shape or form.

I believe it is our responsibility to exercise our rights and even if it does take a lil longer than ususl then at least we are standing up for what is right

UKBA are a force onto themselves - and when you look at the powers that they do have on behalf of HMRC, it's really not hard to see how they can make someone crack. People might talk the good fight, but the second that they're in a room with an UKBA officer, who is pointing out exactly what the law says in regards to potential punishments - they're going to break sooner rather than later.

He has proven that if you stand your ground then in fact they cant do anything until they can prove it is for commercial puposes. How can they prove this??? The UKBA work on scare tactics, they believe the uniform is enough to make u give them ur fags. They also have no power to detain until you have commited a crime and cannot ask the police to dtain you until a crime has been committed and they can prove it. Look at the immigration act of 71 (i think). Also they are not allowed to do random stops of people crossing the border unless they have proof that a crime has been committed. A tip off is not even enough legal proof.

WHat he is showing on his site and his you tube videos is that he knows the law better than the UKBA officers and he really shows them up at one point.

A gift loist is a good way of proving that the fags are not for commercial use

News / Which modern developments harm Poland? [83]

Pope John Paul II warned that the great danger facing the West, including Poland, after the fall of communism would be consumerism...All of the problems you mention are related to this...From what I read on the Forum, it seems that both native Poles and some diaspora Poles, with their mindlessly negative attitude toward the Church, reflect this trend.

Consumerism is a danger but the person u quoted here and his firm are some of the worst culprits. I have yet to see a priest in Poland who doesnt have a new car

To the uk 200 per person,so if you need cheap Cigarettes the best idea is to send a football team!

Bollocks

According to EU law you are able to carry as many as you want for personal use and gifts. Best of all the UKBA have no right to stop you and if they do you are not oblighed to cooperate with them. The only time they are allowed to stop anyone is if thye suspect that cigs are being sold, and must tell u if this is the case and thye have to prove it before they detain you. This guy has proven this:

He is very helpful so if u need more info, drop him a line

USA, Canada / Think you're Polish (and live in the USA)? [161]

I think many Poles are ashamed of their heritage, sometimes such Poles get to another country and want nothing to do with Poland what so ever. They integrate and maybe visit Poland every so often but have absolutely no intentions of returning to live what so ever.

Same as alot of Brits here WB. Some Brits despise Britain and as HArry said above, he doesnt even consider himself to be a Brit. You even said urself that you would not return.

A question for Harry. Would you stand up fro the UK if they were under attack? Would you take up arms for them? If not, then you dont deserve the passport you carry.

What nationality do you cosider yourslf Harry?

I agree with HArry and Delphi though about the point that plastic poles have no right to comment about Polish affairs or criticise defend Poland so vehemently when they live in luxury in the USA

Millions of Poles are working abroad and return with a wider view of the world

You sure about this? So many poles who returned from London believ that the whole of the UK is a city, we dont have lakes and mountains according to them, they were even looking forward to returning to Poland to see some sea, as if uk doesnt have any

Life / Foreigners commenting on Poland - a minefield? [30]

Its totally true, a Pole at work will not do anything unless he is told to, I have emplyed many of them i should know. There is no initiative there. I know supermarket managers who would rather leave shelves empty than fill them cos its not their responsibility. This is where the phrase mucking in can be applied
