Life / The Polish Way to Ask Questions [41]

The funniest thing for me is when some beggar/drunk asks for money and he starts the question with 'mam prosba'. It cracks me up everytime

Love / Craziness and Polki - these two go together [33]

These two go together.I mean totally mental or not? What is your opinion? Are they cold blood calculating machines or hot tempered crazy species?

Crazy??? You serious??? They are extremely timid compared to the Brits. Gdansk, where I live is a ghost town at night compared to British cities on a Sat night. One Polish girl told me she was crazy and I asked her in what way and she told me she went to a prty in Lublin and drove back from the party all in the same day (without drinking of course). I was astounded by the craziness. I witnessed a Polish stag night last weekend in Gdansk and they just sat round, had a meal and went home. Now tell me. are most Poles crazy?? No, they should let themselves go every now and again and stop being so damn serious

Travel / Gdansk - where to go and what's cool to see? [25]

If you're talking about falowce in Gdansk Przymorze, there is nothing to see, and the people who live there certainly wouldn't recommend it. Communism at its greatest

News / IS Poland prepared for what is coming during the Euro 2012? [10]

I am wondering if Poland is prepared for what is coming during the Euro 2012???

I am not talking hooliganism but I'm talking the sheer numbers of people on the streets.

Anyone who has travelled on an English football tour will know that the English love to take over, not in a bad way, they just liven the place up a bit.

Gdansk, after around 10pm is a ghost town, so I cant imagine how the people will react with the streets thronged with revellers to the early hours of the morning.

This, combined with the party mentality of the Spanish and other nations, is going to transform the city for the duration of the football.

Bearing in mind that Poles cannot handle a few lads on a stag night in Krakow, I'd hate to see how they handle the masses

You got a hand full of straw there Weishie lol

Whys that then WAW? If I had been coming back from a job on sat that rquired me to wear shorts, everyhting would have been ok would it?

Tuesday isn`t the same as Sunday

Shows how little you know. Thoiose who live Christ dont care what the day is, they just feel the desire to worship. I can imageine Pawian that you are one of these ppl who believe that Church is for Sunday only. A church is a building, worshipping God is a calling, no matter the day.

From your last airbrained arguement, I can see ur one of those who just go through the motions of Church. Read Hebrews and Thesallonians I&II, it will enlighten you

Slowly we will learn everything

Ok I confess, I got up in the middle of the serivce, professed I am the son of God, p****d over everyones easter baskets then took a hot steaming one on the Church steps. Its funny how the woman in the church I was talking about was the husband of a man from Sopot who is famous for taking bribes, he was sat right next to her.

it is simply about respec

What about respecting my decision to attend Church dressed this way???

I go to Church most sundays, I never really see women dolled up, the odd one, I have to point out I have never seen a man in shorts at Church, anywhere in the world

Have you been to Kensington Temple?? Go and see. Ur welcome to attend my church too where one guy came to a Tuesday service straight after his day job as a painter decorator in his paint covered overalls. Please dont tell me uve been everywhere cos clearly you havent

1 Peter 3:2-5)

Look at verse 3&4 seanus

Deuteronomy 22:5

Doest this refer to transvestities Seanus?????

Take a look at this:
1 Peter 2:9

Here Peter refers to the whole nation being of the priesthood? So what does priesthood mean???

It all sounds more and more puzzling. Why have you been keeping it secret so far?

They all knew I was foreign, cos I didnt do any of the rediculous cross signs, and the up and down like a yo yo part. I didnt say their prayers either. I think it was the fact that I didnt join in coupled with the fact that I was wearing the shorts. I silently prayed to myelf though, even if it was to ask God that the priest's ogloszenie part didnt drag on too long :-)

Firstly, if I wish to confess my sins, I get down on my knees and speak directly to Christ. i dont need a man to tell me whether or not my sins are forgiven after Ive made a financial contribution.

Someone who is saved (and I dont just mean a believer) will end up in the same place as a Priest when they die (unkless the Priest is a child abuser in which case he will rot in hell - yep God's man alright).

You know what 'Priests' are called in the protestant church, 'pastors', or 'preachers' who advocate going back to basics, ie prayer and Bible study in order to focus on the path to God. The images and dogma pf the Catholic Church are just a big distraction

Would you wear shorts to Chapel? Or is this part of some rebelion against the RCC?

Always did in the summer in Wales and it is not a rebellion against the RCC, its an issue about what has happened to the Church and its followers

What do you know about the way the girl had been greeted if she had entered the church before you?

Cos she was the wife of one of the more famous paritioners that go to this certain Church in Sopot. Everyonw shook her hand after the service while everyone commented to me, so much so that my wife had to tell them to be men and say it to my face

Human being express himself in many ways, one of which is a way he/she dresses. Expecting proper dress from people attending mass is only understandable, if somebody doesn't like it I can say only one thing - nobody is forcing you to go there, but if you do - pay respect and dress properly.
Content express itself also in Form.

The Pharisees believed this, during times of fasting they would paint their faces white to show everyone they fast. Christ heavily criticised this. Did he have a right to do it??? Christ didnt like it and he spoke out about it. Nobody forced Christ to teach against the Pharisees, he chose to do it.

Before some of you dimwits accuse me comparing myself to Christ, read the above post carefully 2 or 3 time if you need to.

You would definitely find one in the Old Testament

This it the thing nathan, Christ came to renew the testament, instead of an eye for an eye as the old testament required, Christ told people that if someone striles them they should offer the other cheek. Christ did not come to start a new religion but he came to reform Judaism. The whole point of my posts is to say that if ppl are going to be concerned about what im wearing rather than the message of Easter then Christ died in vain and all his work on trhis planet is now void

Nobody will punish you and you should do as you like, but also you might consider a bit weaknesses of those who cannot pray by seeing beautifully exposed body parts.

My legs are not t thing of beauty NAthan and that woman's were. According to what ur saying then, they should have been put off by her, but in fact they werent, they were put off by me. Maybe my legs are sexier than I originally thought

Oh, can sb give me the function of a priest, please

An all but irrelavent profession in today's world I'm afraid. A priest should guide people to the truth or provide them with the means to discover it for themselves. They are not above people nor are they more Holy than anyone else.

Will others accomodate this minor understanding of our needs?

I am saying Nathan, that this lady, just as I, are able to come before the Lord in whatever we want to wear as it is the exultations of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts which we are brining to him, not my hairy legs- they just provide me with the knees with which I can bow before him in humility.

There you go dictating what someone should wear. She may have been dressed inappropriately and if no one else complained then the problem lies in your judgement of her.

So therefore, why was I judged so harshly??? I believe she can wear what she wants but if you saw a woman dressed like that in the street you would form stereotypes of her as a w***e. Isnt it worse when a woman comes to CHurch dressed like that? What about a man wearing shots in 17 degree heat? If you saw him, what stereotype would you form? I was dressed appropiately for the weather, she was not dressed appropriately for church, for a disco yes, but for a church no

Because will and safety of the majority is taken into consideration

The will of the majority who have actually fogotten why they go to Church. I pray with my mouth and my heart and will say the same prayer if my legs are covered or not

Sb, please point me to an official source.

This is the whole point of this thread sheep boy. i am trying to find out how much of a prt the Bible plays in this dress code. I am assuming the Bible is the foundation upon which the Church is built and through my extensive study of the Bible (I have an MA in Theology and hve even lectured in Gdansk uni on this), I have yet to find any reference to it whatsoever. So therefore, what is this dress code? Why does my pentecostal church in Wales not care what I look like??

Go get damn pants next time or simply don't go there. It's that simple.

I went straight from the beach to the Church, as always was the tradition when I lived ijn the UK, except there they didnt bat an eyelid, in fact noone even noticed me
