News / Poland and Russia in military alliance - Is that even possible? At least temporary? [69]

Poland and Russia? the two strongest Slavic nations working together, now this is a dream.... These two countries more often then not sided against each other. I don't see Poland coming to the aid of Russia, but if the E.U/NATO were to push anti Polish policies to take away Pomerania and Silesia from Poland, then I could see Russia siding with Poland. This is the only example for me that comes to mind.

News / Poland and Russia in military alliance - Is that even possible? At least temporary? [69]

I can see the hostility already- The inconvenient truth is that Poland does need Russian gas, If Poland is more willing to co-operate with the west (including GERMANY) over Russia- both of them committing there fair share of crimes- then the only way for Poland to side with Russia is if the west push an anti Polish agenda. Whats the deal with it being hard for Poles to get Visas for U.S.A?- we are in an alliance aren't we? wheres the missiles they promised...

and for those who knows history it
is clear that Poland is more western country then Germany

Really? that statement makes me believe you don't know Polish history. Are you referring to the times that Germans and Russians allied against Poles? because I am just confused. Look up Sarmatism.

those who knows history understand that are both- Germans and Poles, in general, of Sarmatian (read Serbian) origin and, that are Russians generally of the other Proto-Slavic branch- Scythians

Crow, Germans who are of Sarmatian origin (R1a) are most likely to be partial Polabians that weren't killed of when the German/Frankish people Invaded that region during the crusades. Polish people have highest percent of R1a of all Slavs, and this makes them (genetically speaking) a lot closer to Russia then Germany.

Back To Russia and Poland forming an alliance- If these countries ever go on board with each other Crows Slavic Union could be a reality- All you need is Poland, Russia and any South Slav country ( I think Bulgaria is more stable then Former Yugoslavia) and the rest will follow.

Problem is Poland would have to abandon its western ties which is a bad move, so I conclude that Poland and Russia can only ally with each other is if Poland would get attacked by a western country and Russia came to the defense of Poland instead of invading it from the other side.

Language / Polish language would look better written in Cyrillic Script? [212]

No, it would look better in Glagolithic, The first Slavic alphabet and in fact at one point used by the east, west and south Slavs. Saints Cyril did not invent and spread Cyrillic, it was Glagolithic. Cyrillic came latter on, actually I believe if Cyrillic was not invented all the Slavs would being using Glagolthic by now and I personally prefer the look of Glagolithic over Cyrillic.

Genealogy / The typical Polish look, or all Eastern Europeans [656]

Why are people obsessing about looking Polish? I am Polish but when people see me they think I am Russian or they say I look more Russian then Polish, or if I am Polish why don't I have blue eyes and blond hair? (some people think everyone in Poland has blond hair and blue eyes), So I am guessing I don't have a typical Polish look, but have a typical Eastern European look.

Life / Being a Jew in modern-day Poland; Israeli Jew who is of Polish descent [269]

ethnic Jew than an actual religious Jew

I thought you said your Polish decent? This is like equivalent to calling someone ethnic Muslim?-Just curiosity, do you consider Ethiopian Jews ethnic Jews too?

I was in Poland this summer and even small cities have operational Synagogues and Jewish community centers, in fact a Jewish community center was right across from where I stayed. Now was there selective targeting of the Jewish center? yes there were several in the past and probably will be more in the future but not as common as you think and nothing too serious. But If you are not too religious and don't go around telling everyone your "ethnic Jew" you wont attract these kinds of people. As for normal people in Poland, they simply wont care.

Genealogy / Was my moms family (Kowalsky) Russian or Polish? [35]

Neither...you are American.

He's talking about ethnicity not nationality (Americans are divided by ethnicity such as African america, Indian Americans etc.)
Now I'm no expert but it is very possible that their is Polish somewhere there-even today there are many Poles living on the borderland regions of Belarus and Lithuania. Try asking your family members and doing some research etc.

But if it bothers you that much you can always do a genealogy test.

Life / Being a Jew in modern-day Poland; Israeli Jew who is of Polish descent [269]

of course my intention was to talk about how much Poland is to blame for WWII and how unworthy it is of our Jewish presence

You don't know that nearly half of the victims of the concentration camps were Polish? and Poland lost over 3 million people at least (not including Jews). Do you know how much Slavic people in general suffered during that war? If you wan't respect you first have to show others it first. Next time start a thread with your real intentions...this makes you malicious.

History / Poland must get back Lwow, Wilno and Brest back [318]

Get back Lwow from UPA fascists
leave Wilno alone but make Lithuania respect the minority rights of Poles
build stronger ties with Belarus and encourage local autonomy for Brest region for the Pole's that still live there and stronger ties between Belorussians and Poles

Language / "Poles" or "Polish people" - which is better to use? [200]

Or Germany by dropping the end letter 'y' the adjective is German. That makes Poland should be by adding er POLANDER or by dropping/deleting end letter POLAN

I like Polan better then Pole too, but there was already a west Slavic tribe known as Polan's
Well there is either Polak or Pole, your choice

History / Poland must get back Lwow, Wilno and Brest back [318]

Poles are the second most disliked people in Lithuania after Russians,

And now it's turn of Poland to give back our stolen eastern territories, and, first of all, our historical capital, the city of Wilno, where ethnic Poles have always been a majority of population!

they wont give Wilno without a fight and then Pole's will be 1 most hated people in Lithuania

Well poles make up something like 6% of the population of Lithuania, but usually around border of Belarus, so a referendum in some area's can be possible, but i dont think it's posible for wilno

News / Does Poland support the idea of Slavic unity? [142]

Some people do, not all. It is limited to pan-Slavic intellectuals, there was a letter coming from Poland sent to Russia about establishing a Slavic council not too long ago.

Pan-slavism never really died, it has its ups and downs but continues to exist. There is a inner feeling for peace and unity that some feel with others of similar heritage. Pan-Slavism if used for peaceful co-operation can be enough to counter-balance western neo-imperialism. Brothers to the end, even if they fight a little with each other. Yes, it can happen.

Genealogy / I love Asiatic influences in Polish peoples' faces [59]

But YOU have no right to say you know what is in my head or what my following comments might have been.

They are just annoying trolls, they have a very narrow egocentric mind and its pointless to argue with them because all they will do is through insults around.

You are not implying Polish people are Asian, its very obvious.

there are Tatars in Podlasie, as well as other regions across Poland, I'm sure Roger5 knows that. Many Tatars eventually lost their language and abandoned their religion (Islam) over time, and then mixed with other Poles. This would cause some Poles to have Asiatic features without even knowing they are part Tatar. I am no Tatar expert but this is what I read from Polish history books. Today It appears that 5,000 people in Poland claim Tatar ethnicity and it seems to be a growing trend (people used to keep quiet about these stuff, even today some people still keep quiet about it).
