Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

Dog personality=Cat personality^10

My dog, even though it is incredibly stupid and belongs to one of the stupider breeds in general, is capable of easily performing tasks that would be extremely complex for a feline.

How come you don't see any cats at the border, or working in counter narcotics, riot control, security? Because they are useless.

Language / Polish people: did you struggle learning English - differences between both languages [76]

I'd only be able to type in phonetically aka Latin, which for a native Russian speaker such as yourself is a royal pain

Nah it's not a pain, we all learned to type this way in the 90s - not least because you cannot type a website url in Cyrillic, or some other specific applications. Irritating, but not a big issue.

Most Russians whom I've taught also struggle for years with the definite vs. indefinite article

It is absolutely maddening. "I live in a house" vs "I live in the house" vs "I live in-house" - very difficult to wrap your mind around as a new student.

The relation between any given language only tends to ease the process.

This is indisputable. It's kind of you to group Russian in the European group of languages instead of Orcish. What's helped me most is understanding how many Russian and English words are French or German in origin. Studying Italian in college gave me an appreciation for the Latin foundation. Being wary of false friends, these have been amazing guides.

I loath Putin.

Russia is a democratic country, with constitutional protections for citizens' freedom of speech. This is your right, and I will type many posts in forums in support of your right to continue opposing the president.

Why are you ignoring me ?

To protect the gentle psyche of our young members I will answer you. Your Russian is perfect. As good as Google translate can get. Now bugger off to "your" thread. It's yours, right?

I apologize, I just cannot contain myself when I see pictures of the Sun-like One. Feel blessed, child, that your entire life has been spent under his watchful eye.

I am getting accused a lot of homosexuality recently. It's all Pawian's fault for starting a "Hot Polish Men" thread. I ask you - why is it me getting attacked and not the man who founded the thread?

@Lenka

Sometimes when I read old threads I start feeling sorry for myself for missing out on the Golden Years of PF. At the same time, back then there was no Novichok. The appearance of Novichok, aka Rich Mazur, was like a bolt of lightning on a clear day. Immediately it became clear that this kind of razor sharp logic and powers of deduction are without precedent on the server.

Also, those veterans that stayed have fermented and matured, like the famed canned suckers that JR consumes in his hut. Pawian of 2014 vintage, is not the same as 2022 Pawian. His wit is more ascerbic, his gardening knowledge more perfected.

All the more reason I should leave.

Chill. I am only kidding. Velund and I have had few successes in propaganda. Everybody still hates us. You embarrass me no more than I embarrass myself.

Smart enough to know the internet well enough to use PF...

To be fair, when I was sixteen I also marveled at how anyone past 60 was able to continue interacting with technology. Now I recognize how utterly insulting this should have been to my grandparents that built all the infrastructure on which my life was based.

You?

Jesus, get a clue - Novichok is 76. Honestly, you are embarrassing me. Velund and I have worked very hard to get to the point where we are now - where all people on the forum respect Russia and the views of Russians. I'm afraid your thoughtless posts can erase years of labor. Please check yourself before you wreck yourself.

History / Current Polish-Russian relations.. What do the Poles think? [60]

In retrospect, it would have been better for the entire world if Poland had won in 1612.

There is a quote from some Greek, regarding the Romans: "Conquered, we conquer." It was in regards to how the Greeks, despite being militarily subjugated, conquered the Romans through culture.

How do you know, then, that merging with Russia would not forever change the fabric of Poland? Russians are not as small as Lithuanians which you can systematically sideline and dilute. It would effect changes in your society that would have made it unrecognizable to you. Poland, with all its idiosyncrasies, is a product of history and geography as any nation is. Including Russia. Your freedoms and our autocracy have reasons behind them. Could Poland control such a territory while keeping in place the highly decentralized form of government you poets enjoy so much? Perhaps an absolutist autocracy is the only way dozens of peoples can be kept in check, without everything descending into a bloodbath regularly?

Goddamn you Jon. My coffee went down the wrong hole because of you.

Here is my list:

1) Crow - highly erudite man, with expansive knowledge of all things Sarmatian. Also incredibly polite.
2) Pawian - a Polish baboon, with surprising knowledge of gardening and art.
3) Alien - he eats cats.
4) Cargo Pants - an Indian Jew who lives in New Jersey, and hates the idea of foreigners immigrating into the United States.
5) Novichok - an inventor, a stable genius, and a man that is incapable of lying.

Ahoy Sralec, my buddy, my guy. Wondering if you received some DMs regarding tantric massage work while you were resting in the cooler? There was a nice man passing through the forum, and I went on a limb and provided him your info since I know that money has been tough.

simply not getting worked up about it. He's a nice guy.

Such a swell guy, and quite handsome for a 37 year old too. If you can get over the super glued gash.

Here is my list:

1) Vodka > horilka > zubrowka

2) Polish businesses made absolutely tons of money in Russia and CIS countries pre-UKR meltdown.

3) Poles appreciate Russian sense of humor.

4) Large national oil and gas deposits are actually a nice thing to have

5) It is nice that it was a Russian rocket that delivered Mirosław Hermaszewski to space.

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

@Crow

I would like to think that the reason Serbs are pro-Russian in their orientation is because they haven't forgotten about a little thing called loyalty. Serbs don't have to go far back in history to see that Russia supports its friends.

This admirable behavior stands in stark contrast to that of some other characters, like Germany or Greece, for example. Germany repays a once in a lifetime gift of national reunification by taking an absolutely one-sided stance in the current conflict in favor of Ukraine (neutrality would have been nice, nobody expects support). Greece owes its entire existence to a Russian foreign minister of Greek origin, and the blood of thousands of Russian volunteers - yet it also succumbs to Western pressure (perhaps it's the recent experience of bankruptcy that makes them so pliable). This cannot but leave a bad taste in the mouth.

A look of pure evil.

No idea what you're on about. He has the eyes of an angel, of a saint.

Now this fellow below, he's got evil written all over him. The mustache and eyebrows alone are terrifying.

The Bloody Felix

Bloody Felix to some, Iron Felix to others. His parents named him " Feliks Szczęsny", due to the fortuitous circumstances surrounding his birth. His mother had a bad fall, but survived and carried the baby to term.

Plus, why is he Bloody to Poles if he could not even reach them? You were, by that time, under the reliable protection of the first marszalik (who studied at same school).

If one practices a trading strategy of "buy high, sell low", the amount of time you can spend engaged in this activity is finite.

I remember there was an octopus, some years ago, that could predict the result of World Cup matches. Some bookmaker actually purchased him afterwards.

Perhaps Johnny is a sort of anti-octopus. If you short every stock he picks, you come out winning.
