History / Terrible past for the Jews in Poland? [930]

So my examples are not just in Poland. Here are some:

I'm well aware of such events, however what I mean is that the reasons behind them often do not seem to be like those commonly provided in Jewish sources ("stupid peasants talked into by the Catholic clergy" etc.) for instance 1790 "pogrom" was carried out by small business owners, who were threatened by the competition coming from a large influx of Jews into the city.

Life / Don't Forget: Tomorrow, March 8 is Women's Day in Poland! [115]

Women are paid between 10% and 30% less than men, for the very same position and qualifications.

Source ? I see it quoted quite often but never seen any statistics behind it. Have you ever seen it in practice ? In Poland a situation when a man makes more money working for instance as a junior market research specialist than a woman working as a junior market research specialist just because he is a man, is totally impossible, unacceptable and illegal.

Real Estate / Can the Poland's apartment building coop be forced to fix the building's front door? [6]

Not sure who's "the coop" but usually If you own a flat in a building having many apartments, you are a member of wspólnota or spółdzielnia, a kind of cooperative and people managing it are elected by members/owners, so they shouldn't ignore your problems, especially when It's easy to solve and you have support of other owners... I would write a petition, get it signed by all the flat owners in the building and then "management" should not ignore that... If they do, just collect the money among the flat owners, get it fixed on your own (it sounds like a matter of buying some kind of spring and having one semi-skilled worker to install it) and let the "management" know that they are koonts and you will do what you can to get them removed.

But having the front door opened is not really threatening your life...

History / Terrible past for the Jews in Poland? [930]

The problem is that many peasants never saw through this manipulation, and they believed the lies that were told to them.

Can you provide some exact cases of such events ? I've read about it many times but only in general, without any examples.

Law / Registering for military service in Poland. Is it mandatory? [34]

Why spend taxpayer money reminding teenagers about medicals which are to be taken before obligatory peace-time military service

Not only before obligatory peace-time military service but also for other purposes, for instance to decide what kind of duties (and if any) they can perform during war time. There's really a lot of info about that. Go google and ask someone to read it for you. Good luck in your research.

And if you think that teenagers are going to give a damn just because they get a letter..

Then please kindly check how many did not show up for the medical examination. End of topic really. Now go troll somewhere else. Perhaps busia stuff, we were missing it so much here.

Genealogy / Do you consider Gorals, Lemkos, and Silesians Poles? [35]

It's up to them really, generally I think about 95% of "Gorals", half of Silesians and 1/3 of Lemkos decalre themselves as Polish, what the rest declare themselves as is their own business.

History / Churchill and Poland [120]

Right, commies taught us to hate others for making us to live under communism... dude read it again and think again If it makes sense really...

Seeing as it is an obsession with every Pole, which they drag up all the time even though it is inaccurate, I think it is Poles that "need to get over it".

Triple anal yawn.

News / Czechs most liked by Poles! [35]

the English (47 percent)

Gad...

Seriously, dislike for Romanians is by far the most pathetic in this poll, looks like still after so many years many people are stupid enough to think that Romanians=Gypsies.

News / Why mustn`t we allow PiS to rule Poland again? [45]

Why mustn`t we allow PiS to rule Poland again?

Because there are still many "privatizations" waiting in line, many "overpriced" public contracts need to be signed, many hospitals waiting to be "commercialized", many regulations, which are against Polish interests (like CO2 nonsense) need to be passed. That's why various "interest groups" are keeping this totally incompetent government in charge.

What I find really sad is that so many people fall for this nonsense, majority either think that Tusk is always right and PiS are some feckin devils, who need to be opposed at all costs or the other way around. We will not make any progress with this kind of thinking. We need a grass roots movement, basically "politicians start doing your feckin job, you get paid for that".

About this pathetic case, my opinion in brief.
1. So called Doctor G. is a stinking criminal, he was proven guilty, no sane person should defend this crap, however Ziobro's stupid speech was totally unnecessary and unprofessional.

2. Setting up CBA was a good idea and sending them to sort out some stuff in health care sector was spot on too, as corruption there was terrible at some point, it's still very bad but it got better at least in small cases, try to "buy" L4 now, you will see it. CBA's leadership trying to get big success quickly made a mistake thought, such institution need several years to get working right, otherwise you get clowns like agent T.

3. Tuleja guy, dude's been running 3rd rate cases for most of his "career", so decided to become some feckin celebrity, send him to Big Brother or some other **** but I don't see how's his mother's past relevant here.

Edit:

It is an old stalinist method to hold children responsible for their parents` deeds.

Today, those who try to press the judge by pointing to his mother, are true heirs of Stalin, indeed.

Right, unless It's about Kaczyński's father of course...

News / Only 1 in 3 firms in Poland pays income taxes [20]

Foreign corporations rip Poles off and treat them as semi-slave workers, our "elites" sold us out the way Africans chiefs used to sell their own people into slavery. Makes one think If all that western aid to Solidarity was only due to geopolitical reasons... What's worst are feckin lemmings in Poland, who think that without Mr foreign investor we would have been travelling on donkeys' backs, just a few weeks ago I was talking to one guy ("upper class", well known across Poland in some circles) who said something along these lines "but without foreign owned banks we wouldn't have had all those investments, they did finance them" after I did politely pointed out that the sell out of banks was totally foolish and people responsible for that should be jailed for life, so i did politely ask Mr upper class to provide the data to support his claim, Mr upper class said "but you know... the money they lend.. to companies... and individuals..." so I, very politely of course, asked Mr upper class, does he know where the feck money the banks lend come from, do they bring them from abroad or perhaps... just perhaps, it's our own feckin money, our own people keep there as deposits ? Mr upper class unfortunately found no time to respond...

there are about 14million companies in Poland

LOL ! It's several times less and majority of that are self-employed people, taxi drivers etc. so not actually real "companies".

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

Indeed it is, for many reasons - culture, cuisine, economics, etc.

How a country can be Eastern in regard to economics ? You mean it's poor ? So once we get ahead of Portugal (which should happen within 5 years), Portugal will be Eastern then ?

Law / Poland economy is slowing down - how does it affect you? [117]

Sadly, that wont happen even in 15-20 yrs

If current Polish strategy regarding economic development is not changed, It won't happen even in 50 years.

I think both sides of the political spectrum in Poland MUST recognize that Poland has made a HUGE leap forward in 20 yrs since the commies had relinquished their power! I looked at some pics of Warsaw

Imagine a 4 years old child, who just like most kids of that age, can't read, write or count... 20 years later it turns out that this person can read, write and count up to 100 ! Huge progress, isn't it ? However, would you tell that person, well done or rather more like "damn imbecile, you should have already graduated from university, stop wasting time and fix what you've messed up" ?

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

As i already said twice if one would name one region of Europe based on language, ethnicity and culture it would be Eastern Europe,

What I see on that map is Poland being in the same group with other Slavic countries, so you say Slovenia or Macedonia are Eastern European too :))?

Wrong link:

Again, what is this map showing ? Poland is in the same group with western (and Central ! :)) France while Russia is in another one :)

since geographically it makes the most sense.

Not really :))

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographical_midpoint_of_Europe

They are not.

Yes, they are :))

the fanatical views that Poland is ethnically and linguistically closer to the West than its eastern neighbors seem to be deeply rooted in some people.

Please tell us which PF members say so.

Nope, they are Central Europe just like Poland is

OK, so you finally agree that Poland is in Central Europe :))
