Life / The nature of Polish jokes? [125]

Well, here's a quick joke that I made up about English women just off the cuff. Not funny, no, but it makes a point.

An English woman goes to a shop to get sth to eat for the day. After looking around, she settles on some baked product. 'I'd like some rolls, please', she says. The shop keeper looks at her and says 'by the looks of you, you've got too many already' :) :)

Some Polish women are stupid but that goes for almost any nation you care to mention.

Why would there be jokes about them? It's not their Polishness that counts but their character.

News / US to deploy Patriot missiles to Poland [405]

I'd go for that with your lovely girls from Novi Sad :) :)

Obama has more to worry about than Patriot missiles. He lied about his forces capturing OBL, an already dead man. He vetoed a Regulation that he himself proposed just last year on a 2-state solution in Palestine. He is a dud that should stick to orations in law schools throughout the country.

Teffle, can you elaborate any more? I think I follow but could use more examples so as not to have to second guess you and pretend to be sure. I really don't get the humour here sometimes. I often do but some Poles laugh at the most unfunny things. They are just different.

Love / What strange/unnerving/funny things do your Polish wives do? [153]

She flies through all the food and drink in the fridge whether hungry/thirsty or not. Waaaaaay too quickly just so I end up with nothing. Any way to strip my money down to zero and then moan that I have nothing. I can see it moving towards that.

I hear Just Ain't Right very well. They'll scoff away at what you have without even a thank you. Gratitude, the biggest single quality that many Poles lack, IMHO.

Exactly, For4. They both have the same hegemoniacal drives and are pushing for many of the same things. If Bush was such a bad man, bullfrog, why hasn't that Italian-American prosecutor been able to prosecute him? For me, it's res ipsa loquitur. A bunch of bandits.

Why did it never go to the highest land court/tribunal? I think we all know the answer to that.

Anyway, Patriot missiles. How can that moron Obama be talking of such a thing when we are ostensibly living through the geist of putting dangerous weapons out of commission? Taking away with one hand and giving with the other. Fine when you are in the bargaining position of America, I guess.

History / Why do Polish people hate to be called Eastern European? [120]

Why look at labels? Anyway, if Gorzów is Eastern Europe and Cottbus is Western Europe, where the heck is Central Europe? How can two border towns preclude the possibility of any central ground?

Good point, rock. Only because buffoons like Obama have been allowed to get his wicked way. The people don't want this, I can assure you. We need to kill those who want to start it, simple. I volunteer my services. If I knew those that wanted to do it, I wouldn't hesitate about putting a bullet in their heads.

Genealogy / The typical Polish look, or all Eastern Europeans [656]

Look at Tiger Woods. He is a mix of 4 backgrounds. Dutch and Thai are but 2 of them.

The typical Polish look? You have to include a comment about the nose if we are to generalise. Mostly bigger than it should be.

Life / Racism in Poland - the future [447]

Thanks, joe :) Right back at ya :) I also like what King A had to say on this matter.

I may have come across as hardline but I'm very moderate for the most part. I maintain tolerance but there comes a time when we have to confront certain realities. If a group of Polish thugs had to stop a group of Pakistani thugs for beating a Polish girl then I'd be all for it if the Polish girl was unfairly treated. In an ideal world, another resort would be for choice but the police are hardly reliable and aren't always on hand.

I merely give hypothetical examples but For4 is right. I'd much sooner help Polish thugs than Pakistani ones. It depends on the justness of the cause.

Teflcat, I know that. But they were Pakistanis so I commented on that. It was that she didn't have a burka and leg covering so locals or Poles wouldn't comment on that. Sorry but chamstwo by Pakistanis in MY country needs some special treatment.

Life / Racism in Poland - the future [447]

I think Poland should treasure some of their hardliners for the future. Whilst I don't advocate open hostility and welcome fairness and decency, the reality is that there are cretins out there that will thrust their values on you. My wife was called all manner of nasty things by Pakistanis in Peterborough and it would've been good to have hardline elements around to sort them out. Look at Norway too. Dariusz Telka pointed out the dangers of radical elements and it sometimes needs radical elements to counter them. I never want to see the day when Poles are targetted in their own country.

My parents-in-law are heavily Germanic (both of their parents are/were German). Yes, they are Polish.

Food / Bary mleczne/milk bars in Poland [30]

I might pop along to the local one tom. It's only 3 mins away. I might try sth I've never tried. Ribs, for example. It's too early for pierogi.

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

Communism certainly regimented certain attitudes. I was talking with my private student about it this morning. He is mid-fifties and really loathes the complications commies threw in when simple procedures were viable. There were many spiteful and vindictive sorts within their ranks.

These are huge ones too. VERY tasty I might add. I'm not a major pierogi eater (if you forgive the connotation) but these ones are a cut above.

A couple here closed but there are still plenty. A portion of 12 large pierogi ruskie will cost you 5.50PLN. A half portion is often enough for most. Polish soups are great value too. As a Scotsman, I really appreciate them.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigrants in the UK - victims or criminals?! [243]

Thanks, Sid. You beat me to it :) I was just going to say, why be black&white about the thread?

Really, people need to learn meditation and not spout rubbish. Simplify and move on :)

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

You can't win sometimes. The thing is, kindness is only sometimes acknowledged with gratitude here. Others view such offerings with suspicion.
