News / Polexit? Almost half of the Poles believe that Poland would be better off outside of the EU [548]

Italy is selling €1 houses, most countries offer some programs to convince people to have kids, Russia has ghost towns when you have 1-2 people left or noone at all...

Of course we don't HAVE to replace the drops in population, maybe we can even find economic solutions to aging population but if it stays as it is Europe will simply die out. We are talking about physically empty villages and towns...

Of course our spicies can get wiped out before then so hey ho :)

I also found it less efficient in the meaning that it heats up small areas very quickly and too strong. As soon as you turn it off it's freezing again.

I never tried the newest electric heaters but I'm not tempted. They are usually used for 'spot heating' and thankfully my house is plenty warm with central heating.

The idea that governments should be bartering about how many people should be shipped to this or that country

Are you talking about refugees or normal migrants because I'm getting lost here...
Refugees need help and it would help if the effort could be spread but they have no connection to the region anyway so any trauma you are talking about already happened.

If you are talking about migrants- stop treating people as little kids or mindless pets! Most of us are capable of making our decisions and take responsibility for it. Do you really expect us to feel sorry for some Ph. D that is smart and successful and decided to move somewhere out of his own free will? And if he is that traumatised- he can go back.

Of course the fate of economic migrants is a bit harsher but still- their decission and the consequences are theirs They could have stayed at home. Or they can go back. While it would be lovely if we could all get nice, interesting, stable and well paid jobs outside our front steps it's impossible.

No, I just worry about your emotional state. To get so upset over something like that...

Generally in Poland electric heating is the least popular. It's simply less efficient and more expensive than alternatives.

Omg Maf, you are really starting to get too blinded by your views. So now people having the freedom to choose to live somewhere else because that is what they believe is good for them career wise, economicaly and that can allow them to experience a different world is bad too? So shall we ban all migration because you believe it causes trauma? Not to mention that I think you havily exaggerated there...

Guess what- societies that did that weren't too happy and many were trying to run away.

@ Johnny
Calm down man. No need to get so agitated. 1500 zl a month is expensive by Polish standards... British as well. Of course the size of the house plays a role but you have to admit that the difference between 65 for heating and hot water compared to around 350 is huge.

Electric heating is not very popular in Poland. In towns people usually have town's or building's society central heating connected and pay a fee all through the year in rent. Once a year the meaters are checked and you either get some money back or you have to add a bit.

Free standing houses use different variation of coal/wood central heating.

Neither is good. I don't know about Germany but in Krakow flights have been cancelled on Saturday due to fog and smog. When you have air so bad people start wearing filter masks you know something is seriously wrong.

I am happy with K. Bosak

As I said- not much of a mystery with you. I just know that Korwin- Mikke had to explain why they supported Bosak in pre- election. From what I understand he is too nationalist and not enough of a right winger in economics.

Also, has he ever had any REAL job in his entire life?

Don't think so... While it's not great it seems he was into politics since teenage years so I can't blame him for just sticking with it. Just when you add to it all those unfinished studies it starts to look a bit bad.

I will have to google your candidate as that name is new to me.
Sadly for me it seems my side of the political spectrum is still in shambles.

Can I ask who would you choose to replace him? An honest question since it's not that often when I meet religious people not happy with PiS. Or maybe I don't have the opportunity to ask them.

I know Spike goes for konfederacja so no mystery there. I can only ask if he is happy with Bosak as a candidate as some Korwin voters are quite unhapppy...

Yeah, yeah, I heard it and I'm not buying it. Plus if you look at the anti global warming campains you see oil companies, coal syndicates etc

Anti global warming actions are connected to pollution so win win.

green issues are expected to be paid by people who pay enough in tax and have no much money to burn.

But they have enough plastic... Recycling your rubbish is too much for some too... Hard, hard work.

They are literally poisonings their families and all the people around them.

Life / How to really meet Polish people in Poland and actually socialize with people in their Late 20s/Early 30s? [34]

You can maintain your desire to talk in English but:
1- conversation is communication between people and as such each participant's wishes are as important as the other ones.
2- if you lie about your knowledge of English then you are a liar. No egos and the rest can change that
3- did it ever cross your mind that people insist on using English because they simply don't understand tou?

Language / "Ego" as an ending in Polish Names? [19]

Ulica/Plac (kogo? Czego?) Sikorskiego, Chrobrego etc.
That ending shows up when you answer who's the author/patron/ responsible for something.
For example a book written by Mr Sikorski would be 'ksiazka Pana Sikorskiego'

My theoretical grammar is not that great and rusty as well so I'm sure someone will come along to explain in more detail.

That ending will also appear if talking about pure ownership 'Mr Sikorski's car ' is 'samochod Pana Sikorskiego'

Short answer- grammar.
Let's take the name Sikorski. You may see it in many forms:
Pan Sikorski
Panu Sikorskiemu
Pana Sikorskiego
Panu Sikorskim
All are correct depending on the structure of the sentence.

Real Estate / Carpetying style? - question to Brits living in Poland [26]

I like wall to wall carpeting in bedrooms. Generally wooden floor always look more elegant in my opinion and are easier to keep clean so perfect for living rooms, dining rooms . Putting them in hallways is not very practical. Not to mention carpets in pubs...Will never like that :)

Most of the time people put their carpet down themselves in Poland. That's what we did anytime we were changing them. No stairs though.
