News / Degenerate "rainbow" eyesore to disappear from Saviour Square (Plac Zbawiciela) in Warsaw [297]

negative attention

This whole thing is an ersatz subject and media circus not worth the airtime or newsprint.
Especially when society is faced by so many serious problems including the refugee crisis, global warming and the depletion of natural resources. In a country such as Poland, naturally inclined to divisivness and partisanship, anything that needłessly antagonises and polarises people should be downplayed, not highlighted. All the more so that this issue concerns only a a tiny fringe group which is playing a disruptive, destabilising role in society.

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4500]

DUKANICZ: from dukan (mumbler, mutterer, someone who speaks in a muffled or otherwise unclear manner); the patronymic ending -icz (Dukanicz) would mean "the mutterer's son".

WIkipedia: Lemkos (Ukrainian: Лeмки, Polish: £emkowie, Lemko: Лeмкы, translit. Lemky; sing. Лeмкo, Lemko), one of several quantitatively and territorially small ethnic sub-groups inhabiting a stretch of the Carpathian Mountains known as Lemkivshchyna. Many Lemkos identify as a branch of Ukrainians.

Their spoken language, which is uncodified, has been variously described as a language in its own right,[citation needed] a dialect of Rusyn, or a dialect of the Ukrainian language.

No such people

You're certianly one of them. You have made more of an adulatory fuss about the rainbow than most people do about their religion. The same old tired buzzwords over and over... "inclusion, diversity, hope". You have gone into a distored form of exultation at the very thought or mention of the rainbow -- its size, location, colour shades, symbolism...and have actually turned the whole silly business into a religion of sorts. And, hey, there's no law against it, so have your fun!

police should just wait for them

Sounds like the old Keystone Cops! Get with it, Polsyr, this is the 21st century. Never heard of drones -- swift, silent and effective? The rainbow worshippers wouldn't even know what hit it!

I'd like that

I'll bet you would! Just compromised yourself again - you'd be willing to spend any amount of someone else's money to propagandise and promote the perv community.

third floor window

Why skimp and cut corners? Before heading for the rubbish heap of history PM Kopacz should announce a nationwide fund-raisng campaign for an impressive homo-rainbow that would span central Warsaw clearing the TV tower of the Palace of Culture. It should be fitted with blinking lights so as not to become an air-traffic hazard.

Language / Polish slang phrases - most popular. [606]

"loparsch"

Just a wild guess that it's from the German Lobarsch (lob = boast, praise); arsch = a*se). Possibly said of a boaster. Does this sound plausible? Wisconsin is a very German state although it also has a seizable Polish population.

iversity, inclusivity

You missed the key component: diversity, inclusivity and perversion! The rainbow is a mislogo if there ever was one. If bent on invoking biblical themes the LGBTQ mob should use a flaming cityscape instead -- Sodom and Gomorrah ablaze in punishment for choosing sterile homosexual lust over God's plan for procreation.

new Facebook group

What's it called? Where does one sign?

preaching against the new rainbow

Good for them! All toxic symobls -- hammer & sickle, swastika, homo rainbow -- should be forcefully preached against. A petition drive may be needed to protect locals from some arty-farty installation by a group of interlopers, esp. if bankrolled by alien external forces. Maybe a reciprocal action could be arranged -- Stockholm gets a statue of Father Rydzyk in exchnage.

News / Nazi gold train 'found in Poland' [90]

rusting military hardware

Poland's central bank governor Marek Belka said on Wednesday that the story of an alleged finding of a Nazi train in Poland that could contain jewels was in his opinion a hoax.

Asked if potentially the gold found in the train could add to the bank's reserves, Belka said: "I think nobody (at the central bank) even thought to devote a second to this issue. This is some hoax."

Poland's Deputy Culture Minister said last week he was almost certain Poland had located a Nazi train rumored to have gone missing near the close of World War Two loaded with guns and jewels.

Genealogy / Polish equivalent of "Jessie"? [48]

Czesława

Czesława/Czesia > Jessie - sounds plausible.

I've also heard Jesse used for Zdzisław. It's often the case of finding something close-sounding like Bronisława > Bernice, Bornsiałw >Bruno, Czeaław > Chester, Mieczyław > Mitchel, etc.

Kieżgajło

Yes, the Kieżgajło version is the most abundant historically. But as far as I could find, no-one uses it nor any of the other spellings in today's Poland. In Lithuania I don't know -- I lack access to their interior ministry database.

isn't a central government issue

When a higher good is at stake -- in this case preventing public depravation -- where there's a will there's a way.
At a time when the nation needs to work towards unity in line with the saying: "Zgoda buduje, niezgoda rujnuje"*, the unsavoury Saviour Square incident simply polarised public opinion.

It was a waste of taxpayer money in terms of repeated renovations and the security measures deployed, and its only redeeming feature was that it allowed hacks to produce their typical media circus.

Kino Tęcza

It's not on the north side or any side of Wilson Square. Kino Tęcza is tucked away in a little side street and only those in the know are even aware it's there. That is good to know because if there really are deebs planning to reintall that nauseating bit of kitsch, the avergae passer-by and tube passenger will not be forced to view it.

The municipal dump still seems a more proper site.

rotten to the core,

Indeed, except it's the Platfus coterie that's scam-infested.
Check out mapaafer.pl for details.

In recent years it has been PO members who regard Poland and Polish taxpayers as a sucker cow that can be milked indefinitely.

insult such a symbol

Just like the swastika once symbolised the sun but was hijacked by the Nazis, so too the rainbow now symbolises first and foremost sodomy, pure and simple! You don't think the godless jons and Harries and Delphs of this world would be making such a fuss about any Christian symbol. But they'll give their left arm for the pervert cause.

pl. Zbawiciela

When you leave the church and turn left and cross the narrow road -- isn't the Delikatesy there any more? Directly opposite (on the opposite side of the square) next to the Methodist English School was another set of arcaded shops. Maybe they've been rebuilt.

Is it safe to go there these days? There may be freaky types lurking in the shadows!
