News / Coronavirus in Poland - part 2 [599]

Complications mostly happened to people over 60.

He doesn't realise that it can be quite nasty anyway, complications or not, and that a large part of why the various vaccines were given to younger and healthier people is to make it less likely that they pass it on to someone older of in poor health.

His wibble is offensive; I lost a family member to Covid during the initial stages of the pandemic. None of the vaccines had been developed at that stage. If they had, perhaps she'd still be alive.

stupid ignoramus

Tautology.

And if not following downmarket and rather unpleasant televangelist stations makes someone an 'ignoramus', then there are millions of us, generally with high IQs.

i.e., it takes humanity back to the Middle Ages.

That's the whole point of them. Grifters seeking to make relatively small amounts of money by pushing destructive nonsense.

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

is against the principles of animal life.

They're obligate hunters. Even if they aren't hungry, the kittens and older cats around them often are.

Very easy, besides being selfish and disloyal

And extremely cute and affectionate

they hate their keepers

If they were larger and/or you were smaller, they'd certainly kill you, however that's part of their charm.

Indeed.

Though it's actually hard to think of a good looking communist. They probably exist. Most fascists are no oil painting either.

I don't watch YouTube videos

I don't watch them at all. Anyone with a decent level of intelligence can think and reflect faster than those weirdos can speak and of course anyone can say anything there.

Millions n the U.K. had to choose between buying food or paying rent

People do anyway, and that is a sad indictment of capitalism. Good that you're quoting a solid left wing source like the Guardian though.

Remember when the renters union called on government to suspend rents.

Very good too.

Ceptin

Which vaccine? There are several.

Or work.... and be able to afford rent and food.....

Not in PL, or in the U.K. Most people have no issue though with anti-infection measures.

coercion

Health matters are for all of us. There is no individualism or selfishness where transmissible diseases are concerned.

it help keep the symptoms in check? Who knows?

Apparently that's what it does.

Plus of course the strains of it have become progressively weaker; something we have to partly thank the vaccine rollout for.

one

There are several vaccines that were given.

We all had them, and mine certainly worked since I've not had Covid.

any advice?

There are certain criteria that have to be met. All the info is on the gov.uk website. here's the relevant bit:

You can pay Class 2 National Insurance contributions if you're employed or self-employed abroad if:

Immediately before going abroad, you were ordinarily an employed or self-employed earner in the UK.
You also satisfy either of the following conditions:
(a) You've lived in the UK for a continuous 3-year period at any time before the period for which National Insurance contributions are to be paid

(b) Before going abroad, you paid any of the following National Insurance:

from April 1975 to give 3 qualifying years
from April 1975 to give 2 qualifying years and paid 52 National Insurance contributions (of any Class) before 6 April 1975
from April 1975 to give 1 qualifying year and paid 104 National Insurance contributions (of any Class) before 6 April 1975
156 National Insurance contributions (of any Class) before 6 April 1975

If you feel that your application has not been correctly assessed, you can write to HMRC stating the reasons why you think you meet the conditions for class 2.
The address to write to is:
National Insurance Contributions and Employer Office
International Caseworker department
PT Operations North East England
HM Revenue and Customs

And they wonder why nobody goes to church any more.

belief in Christ

Or Mohammed, Buddha, the Chi, Ahura Mazda, Shiva, other things.

Why judge if someone according to that person's/entity's teaching? Why judge at all?

Didn't Dick Emery play a character called that?

A sort of 70s nihilistic Bovver Boy.

Probably a boomer now with a conservatory, vertical blinds, a Toyota Yaris, an Asda loyalty card, a habit of referring to the Farage person as 'Nigel', an unused chiminea that was a ruby wedding present from Shirley and Dave and a selection of instant 'coffees' on a marble effect worktop.

don't let Rachael Reeves know

She's the Chancellor of the Exchequer (and a very good one) so I'd guess she knows. The budget is very soon and will be a good one. It's unlikely they'll change the present system of back NI payments. The possibility of paying 8 years back NI has always existed and the current scheme to allow an extra 10 years back payments is successful. A nice source of short term cash too, since it's about 8 grand for the 10 years.

As someone who represents an urban constituency with significant inward migration from Poland, many of them (and locals too) in agency jobs or working as care assistants, I'd guess that she's very aware of the issues after two decades of weekly constituency surgeries and has always been a strong advocate for workers.
