News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [538]

As much as I appreciate your sense of humour, it is hardly a joking matter.

I am sorry, I have completed a long serious post, that is too much for my endurance, to balance it I have to make a fool of yourselves and myself for the next ten posts. :):):):)

Actually, I support the abolition of Teacher`s Magna Carta rights.

As a good teacher, I know I will do well without it.

Hopefully, lousy teachers will drop out of schools at last. :):):) Then, I will take their place. :):):)

If you want to stay alive for a little longer, I'd suggest a longer training, pawian.

Stu, you don`t understand Poles. According to our romatic traditions, we are not afraid to lose our lives for the motherland. I don`t care about my life in the future conflict. What matters is that I don`t waste my ammo which will probably be sparsely distributed for those millions of men defending their country.

Therefore, this old slogan will be valid:

Each bullet - one German.

:):):)

would make perfect sense to have every single man and woman able to use weapons. The training could easily be done in schools - and what schoolchild wouldn't like to blow things up for a couple of days a year?

Yes, I agree. Not introducing it is probably one of Tusk`s failures.

Come on, guys. We don`t need a big army. We will never match Russians or Germans in the open field, no matter how much we invest into the military. Don`t you know Poland has chosen the urban warfare option, which means that the conflict will be fought not in fields but cities? Training to shoot an assault rifle or throw a grenade from behind the street corner takes one day. The big professional army isn`t an enough deterrent. But the prospect of facing millions of armed Polish men ferociously defending their towns and cities is certainly a huge deterrent.

I hope you don`t mind it? Will you man the barricade? :):):) I will, with my students. We will give Germans or Russians second Warsaw Uprising or Breslau Defence. :):):)

In consequence, what Poland currently needs is just a group of well trained soldiers who will be the core of the future pospolite ruszenie.

Get a grip, man - Poland can`t stay behind Europe.

The statutory school age in England, Wales and Scotland is from 5 years to 16 years. In England term starts in September, the entry year is reception (R) and children must be 5 before August 31 the following year.

funny how self-centered you are - Stu simply argues with one point you make - maybe he has no problems with other points

Again, instead of rational arguments concerning the topic, you are turning personal and talking about me. Yes, I am faking self-centred, that is why I became a teacher, because I didn`t decide to become a priest or an actor. :):):):)

Now, back to my list, OK? :):):):)

Looks like you aren't intellectually capable to comprehend that economy is not a zero-sum game.

No. It looks like you are intellectually incapable of grasping simple truth: if it was as simple as you suggest, so many European countries wouldn`t be experiencing such enormous economic problems now.

Besides, what makes you say they don`t fight corruption? Or change law? Or don`t adjust the education system? Didn`t you hear about the preschool reform? I will deal with it in the second part of my presentation.

It seems you are catching at a straw, man. :):):)

Public sector in Poland is very ineffective thus very expensive.

Words, words. And slogans.

Show me the country where the public sector is effective and inexpensive.

You think we don't ? What do you base that opinion on ? Please tell.

I base my opinion on what I see everyday.

Moving from "It's all Kaczynski's fault" to "It's all lazy Polish bastards' fault" ? It seems to be a common trend in some circles.

Catching at a straw again? :):):)

ever heard of the thing called corruption - do you think corruption increased or decreased durging the reign of Tusk (should I mentions some examples) -

Of course it decreased. If you lived in this country, you would be aware of the changes that took place in recent years.

When you mention examples of corruption scandals during PO rule, don`t forget to mention all previous ones for a fair comparison, OK?

You wanna talk economic tell me why Polish debt is growing 100 millions a day?

Isn't it actually +300 million a day ?

It is really incredible. I cannot understand how people who have learnt to speak and write decent English (which requires some intelligence, after all) can be such imbeciles.

By imbeciles I mean all those who critisize Tusk`s government for increasing the national debt and budget deficit but at the same time complain about low salaries, cuts in state spendings, no pay and pension rises, high taxes, etc etc.

Guys, wake up and start working for this country, for fack`s sake! When you work faking hard at last, the debt will diminish.

Comparison:

Chinese workers in Poland

Polish workers in Poland

Is it Tusk`s fault?

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [538]

The list of successes and failures is here:

On the pages of Chancellery of Prime Minister has been placed a report with the achievements and plans for the implementation of the government's promises delivered by Prime Minister Donald Tusk during Parliamentary statement on November 23, 2007. The report is presented in tabular form and contains the columns: the promise, execution divided into: made, during execution, not performed, and a comment. In the commentary, we can read detailed solution or the reasons of failure to perform the promise and in the case of unfinished task, execution status.

From combined 95 promises Donald Tusk and the government have qualified 48 of them as realized, 17 unrealized, and 30 as in progress. Many of the changes and the promises made in the exposé is taken by the Poles as a positive change. But many of them raises a number of controversies, and is the cause and the argument of the opposition against the government of Tusk. The most controversial are: foreign policy, the fight against corruption and reform of the public sector.

What are Tusks achievements - means something done which is working as we speak!

You must be blind if you can`t see that Poland managed to go through the crisis quite unharmed under Tusk`s leadership. The economic growth never went below the line, while other countries dropped significantly. We already talked about the GNP prognosis for this year, Poland is catching up with others systematically, e.g., Hungary, which has always been ahead of us.

Of course, all Tusk bashers will say it wasn`t his merit, bla bla bla, someone/something else did it etc etc....

Can I start laughing already at how pathetically predictable you are? :):):):)

No. Cant you see you,re doing it again. " the djihad that may prevail in Poland if PiS takes power."

Yes, I can see I am doing it again. :):):) Thank you for your accurate observations.

So who is to say that if PIS was to be re-elected that Mr. K would be the leader. The important thing is that the successful party fulfill their promises.

Hey, are you really so naive? :):):) Or too clever? :):):)

Correct. If you want to make a fool of yourself.

Yes, sometimes I am overwhelmed by an irresistible urge to make a fool of myself. But others, too. :):):) After all, I am pawian.

Be my guest, ........

I prefer not. Throwing up isn`t my cup of tea. :):):)

and when it will get really tough in Poland,

You mean the Doomsday in 2012? :):):)

you should be wiser.

I try to be. No to PiS!! :):):)

Tusk is an idiot who sold the shipyards then when asked didn't know to whom, case closed.

Only idiots repeat those silly slogans about selling shipyards. The previous governments, including PiS one, did nothing to save them, either.

What,s biased about that ? The guy does not beat about the bush,

:):):) Nothing biased. I must have mistaken you for someone else, Mr Impartial. I am sorry. :):):)

No. You,re pro PO and hence, biased with your opinion.

Now, after your wise judgement, the only thing I can do is to pack my things and leave the country. :):):) And never come back. PO biased supporter, what am I doing here at all? :):):):)

Neutral opinions are more valid,

You want a neutral opinion? Here you are. Tusk`s government is troubled by multiple drawbacks and has scored numerous blunders, even scandals.
However, it is nothing compared to the djihad that may prevail in Poland if PiS led by its manic commander takes power.

Better? :):):)

So "your say", borders on the pathetic.

Still, it is my say to which I have the right and I will propagate it everywhere and whenever I deem it necessary.
I hope you get used to it sooner or later. :):):)

Don`t you understand? We have to defend Poland, it is the matter of life or death.

As a foreigner, you have no idea what is going on here.

Hey, Mr Unbiased, sth wrong with you? :):):)

I would like to ask PO supporters to post 5-10 Achievements of the Tusk's government. Thank you.

One main achievement: Tusk and his team successfully implemented the policy of containment. Namely, they have contained Kaczynski and his pseudo-patriotic oprychnina mafia from ruling this country and, what is more, are still preventing civil war which Kaczyński would like to unleash in Poland to get power.

That is enough for me to eternally support PO, no matter what mistakes they make.

:):):)

Edit: After reading previous posts, I see I wasn`t too original. :):):)

F*ck you you're not polish nor living in Poland you have no say here.

What about me? Do I have a say here? :):):)

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

They are all great guys, a lot of good humor and fun to work with. But I'm thinking that this may be a cultural diffenrence. We have talked a bit about this and from what I'm hearing Poland isn't very ground breaking when it comes to equality in any forms (gender, sexual orientation, different religions etc.).

It depends on the workplace. E.g., Polish schools` staff is mostly females. Everywhere I have worked so far my head teacher was a woman. I didn`t object to it as long as they were reasonable and able to control their emotions. Unfortunately, many women are not good managers because they reason through their womb, instead of brain.

History / The restoration of Polish cities from WW2 destruction [123]

Harry, so you have decided to continue to make a fool of yourself??? :):):) Why? Is it worth?

Słupsk suffered the fate of other German settlements taken by the Red Army. There was no fighting, German troops had left the town. Seeing Russian tanks approaching, German civilians, especially the local elites, started comitting suicides. After Soviets entered, the hunt for women commenced. They were gang raped even in churches, then murdered. The Old Town was burnt to the ground.

That is what witnesses say.

What German prostitutes have in common with the Soviet soldiers who "liberated" in 1945. City? According to Vice President of Slupsk a lot - they have to harass the Red Army and forced them to have sex. Is the vice president, Andrzej Current, former officer of the Polish People's Army, speaking during a session of the City Council - by these words, written his own chapter in the history of the city?

odkrywca.pl/pokaz_watek.php?id=648260

Although we don't agree entirely on Slupsk,

In this case, your disagreement proves ignorance.

History / The restoration of Polish cities from WW2 destruction [123]

Yes, I consider it a barbaric act to move the buldings from towns and cities of western Poland (which were rather well preserved as Germans fled those territories without much of a fight, reorganizing their defense at Odra) - the sad result of that is for example Głogów.

The sad result of your ignorance is that you mention Głogów as an example of barbaric act of post war purposeful destruction. Głogów was turned by Germans into a fortress and destroyed during 6-week siege, by artillery and bombing.

Yes, there were a few buildings which could be preserved. But local communist authorities decided otherwise. In 1948 they took the decision of reconstruction but it soon turned out they didn`t have enough means. The ruins of the Old Town which had practically ceased to exist in result of the siege, were pulled down in 1950s.

Guys, Palives and Koala, why are you providing examples of towns which were damaged or destroyed during the war? You are complaining about their bad reconstruction or even purposeful destruction after the war. How about towns which escaped untouched? Were any of them maliciously demolished by Poles after the war because of their German origin/past?

True. I checked my sources, and it was indeed February. Sorry.

I accept your apology. It is nice of you.

Then tell my way the rubble of war is so cleanly removed?! The Polish source, which hosts the pic, also says 1950-1980.

True. I checked my sources and it was indeed still standing in early 1960. Sorry.

And in the case of Legnica the old town was still in pretty good shape, like the pictures suggest and the sources confirm.

Yes and no. The fact that walls look intact doesn`t mean that the house is so ready for renovation. Do you know what burnt out houses have inside? Nothing:

picture

The Russian troops usually didn't care about urban management. It was mostly a Polish effort, in line with events in other parts of the recovered territories.

OK, so it was the effort of local Polish communist rulers. Satisfied? :):):) Do you know how communist system worked? :):):)

I'm not German,.

Doesn`t matter, if you want to complain about reconstruction, turn to Germans first.

and pointing out to the not so nice parts of the Polish history isn't complaining but a gentle push to accept the darker sides of history too.

You still need to study harder. What f.....g darker sides of Polish history are you talking about in case of reconstruction? :):)
Germans turned urban Poland into ruins, some of them were rebuilt in the original shape, some weren`t due to scarce resources which sentenced Prussian architecture in Legnica to annihilation.

I really don`t see your point.

Harry, on the whole I appreciate your posts and respect you as a reasonable poster. However, I must say that in this one you made a fool of yourself. Why are you doing this to me?

I hope you forgive me my sincerity. :):):)

The full version of one flight over ruined Warsaw is already available:

The most depressing view is the Old Town at 2:07 and Warsaw Ghetto district, literally razed to the ground at 2:25.

So, what darker sides of history are you talking about, Palicev?

History / The restoration of Polish cities from WW2 destruction [123]

The pictures show the situation long after 1945.

Of course not.

They show the the burned out castle, which indeed happened directly after the war,

Of course not. The castle was burned in February 1945 during the fight for the city. Russian troops set fire to it in fear of German counterattack, to prevent taking it back by Germans.

and the mostly preserved old town.

The Old Town was mostly preserved, but only from February 1945 to 8-11 May 1945 when Soviet troops organised an orgy of destruction to celebrate the end of war. Houses were robbed and set on fire one after another.

The destruction of the preserved, historic old town of Legnica after 1965 is well known among historians and conservators,

The destruction, started by Soviet troops in 1945, was only completed by Polishcommunist authorities, greatly influenced by Russian troops who chose Legnica for their major headquarters in Poland.

it affected the largest preserved area of Prussian rococo architecture. That Prussian heritage was the reason for the negligence and final destruction.

Go to your German colleagues to complain about the war they started. :):):) If they hadn`t, the beautiful Old Town of Liegnitz would have survived till today. :):):)

Maybe you should be treated like a student.

I don`t think so, dear. :):):):)

History / The restoration of Polish cities from WW2 destruction [123]

Last year, coming back from the seaside, we passed through Elbląg. I wanted to visit the city to see the Old Town renovation and revitalisation progress.

Let me remind you -

This however soon ended when a large number of the German inhabitants of Elbing fled before the Soviet Red Army approached the city during World War II. During the siege of February 1945 the city infrastructure was 65% destroyed, including most of the historical city center.

Some of the damaged historical city center was completely demolished and the bricks were used to rebuild Warsaw and Gdańsk. The Communist authorities planned that the Old Town, utterly destroyed in 1945, be rebuilt with blocks of flats. However, economic difficulties thwarted this plan. Two churches were reconstructed and the remaining ruins of the old town were torn down in the 1960s.

Restoration of the Old Town began after 1989. Since the beginning of the restoration, an extensive archaeological programme has been carried out. Most of the city's heritage was destroyed during the construction of basements in the 19th century or during World War II, but the backyards and latrines of the houses were not changed and provide information on the city's history. On some occasions the private investors incorporated parts of preserved stonework into new architecture. Approximately 75% of the Old Town has been reconstructed as of 2006. The city museum presents many pieces of art and utilities of everyday use, including the only 15th century binoculars preserved in Europe

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

There are simple different standards of what is rude and what's not, I think that on average Poles are very polite.

Yes, I am polite on most occasions, however, when I deal with morons, I may lose my temper. They unnerve me.
