still a socialist newspaper?

Ever since the Michnik clique hijacked what was supposed to have been a Solidarność newspaper and handed it over to a private Jew-run corporation (Agora), the so-called Selective Gazette (Gazeta Wybiórcza) has been a leftist-libertine-zionist rag. That does not seem likely to change any time oon.

Bury got arrested

Wait till the CBA finally gets after all the Platformer scammers and other of their hayseed allies! No wonder the Platformers were in such a hurry to rush through the appointments of their hand-picked Constitutional Tribunal members. But no such luck. The United Right is ever vigilant and can finally rectify PO blunders, abuses, violations and mislegisaltion.

was put into prison for anti-commie activities

Quite right! Kamiński has been an unswerving anti-communist freedom-fighter since his teens when he destroyed a monument to the Stalinist enslavers of Poland. Rather than liberate Poland, the Red Army scum replaced the Nazi occupation with nearly half a century of Soviet subjugation. And the barbaric bolshies looted, destroyed what they couldn't carry and raped as they steamrollered their way across Poland.

Unlike PO bugologist and badmouther Niesiołowski, who also destroyed a Soviet monument, Kamiński did not snitch on his fiancée during SB interrogation nor agree to become a red informer to save his own skin.

Idź do domu spać

Yes, in SE Michigan this was one of the few phrases many Egnlsih-sepaking PolAm kids knew. Others included a handful of swear words, a number of foods and things like "daj mi buzi". Whether your phrase was limited to SE Michigan or was Polonia-wide I do not know. For more on this please PM me.

the kind of people

Someone might even take your accusations seriously were it not for one fact: no-one ever remembers you focusing on a single ex-commie in the PO camp which was riddled with far more PZPR types than PiS.

For instance, you've never bothered to mention that Komorowski's top adviser was ex-PZPR member Nalęcz and that a communist general Koziej was appointed to head the super-sensitive National Security Council of Free Poladn.

Coincidence? Ignorance? Or a deliberate attempt to cloud and confuse the issue? Everything points to the latter option!

independent judiciary

Under PO it was far from independent but mainly served the Platformer Oldboy establishment.
I agree with you on the lack of stability in public life: 17 voviodships, then 49, now 16. Same with education: 4 + 8 had been the norm for years. Luckily Gierek got dumped because he was toying with a Soviet-style 10-year combined primary/secondary school. Then in the 1990s someone had the bright idea to introduce a gymnasium (junior secondary or middle school), now they want to do away with it. Somehow nobody thinks about the staggering waste of taxpayer money such reorganisations involve. Just the cost of new creating documents, rubber stamps, forms, labels, textbooks, roadsigns, etc. could be put to far better use.

PiS and crime

The minute you set up a "PO and crime thread", the problem will solve itself. The only problem is that such a trhead may turn out to be so voluminous that it'll clog up the works and the mods will have to close it down "for cleaning".

Any evidence of that?

It made the rounds of the media. Not only PiS gatherings but assmblies of Catholic students and pro-life groups got turned down. Apparently someone had paid a visit to the uni rectors in advance and made them an offer they couldn't refuse. Like corrupt PO-serving judges, rectors also know what side their bread is buttered on.

setback for democracy

Kaczyński today told the Sejm a thing or two about Platformerian democracy.
Komorowski sent his secret police to close down an anti-Komorowski website. Riot police wrested anti-Komorowski banners away from footie fans. And PiS rallies were not allowed to be held in public halls. That is the kind of Platformerian democracy that the current government plans to reform. Under the United Right government, special services and law-enforcement units will be used for what they were created: to weed out corruption and other abuses which thrived in the PO-dominated era.

maybe city people

City people on the take with a finger in the theivery and scamming pie regret the demise and yearn for the return of Lemingrad which will cover up all their abuses and "irregularities". But their numbers have dwindled. Contrary to Platformer propaganda, in the last election a majority of city-dwellers, uni graduates and young people voted for the United Right. The PO is still entrenched in some local councils in the boonies where hand-washes-hand politics prevail and local Platformer bosses still rule the roost. But the next council elections will hopefully change all that!

You really beleive the Platformers will be back in power to reintsate their scamming lifestyles within a coupla years, like they were after 2007? Of course, anything is possible in love, war and politics, but it doesn't seem likely!

legal system is there to serve

The courts are meant to serve the nation, not PO politicians holding on for dear life to the feeding trough.
The pardon was extended against the wishes of Kamiński who wanted the appeal to run its course and still does. He hopes to get exonerated which amounts to a verdict of not guilty. A pardon suggests that some violation has been forgiven (pardoned).

on your father's knee

He couldn't have. His father was not the hardened Stalinist Kuroń who sovietised the Polish Scouting Association and brainwashed its impressionable young members with commie propaganda.

independent court in democratic Poland

Stalin's Russia and PRL also had nominally "independent" courts and were nominally "democratic" countries. Courts, judges and prosecutors in the Polish Platformers Republic also knew what side their bread was buttered on.

Pardoned means forgiven, absolved and forgotten. Case closed regardless of what all the losers, whiners and nitpickers have to say!

So start a thread exposing and lambasting the Kurońs, Balcerowiczes, Geremeks, Michniks, Nałęczes and many other card-carrying commies doing the bidding of the Soviet-installed party.

guilty criminal

Justice has been done. As the pardoned Kamiński put it, "I regard the president's decision as a symbol of the restoration of a basic sense of justice, honesty and decency in public life." He recalled that three successive courts had found him not guilty. Also a parliamentary commission of enquiry could find no evidence that the CBA under Kamiński had violated the law. Presumably after a "visit" by the ABW or some other PO-ruled "power that be" a fourth court saw fit to find him guity. That was widely regarded as a clearly politically motivated verdict. It's not surprising that the PO regime went to such lengths to neutralise a champion of justice who was unmasking their numerous scams and dirty secrets.

pardoned criminal

Every miscarriage of justice must be rectified. The PO-inspired judicial harassment of Kamiński was just such a miscarriage, Maybe the PO not only has a łarger percentage of ex-PZPR members in its ranks but they also seem the be influenced by Stefan Michnik-style jurisprudence.

involved with the Party

Being a grass-roots member to help make ends meet as Gregy's dad was and being a member of the hated secret police that tortured and killed Polish freedom-fighters and patriots is an entirely different pair of shoes. You are really running out of arguments and clutching at straws, true Brit Bully and Limey Lounge fashion. Still haven't heard you mention Stefan Michnik, Balcerowicz, Geremek, Kuroń, Nałęcz, etc. who were more than just grass-roots members..

PiS voters are the children of ex-PZPR members

But even more PO voters have family PZPR roots. And not just grass-roots voters. More importantly, there are over 4 times more ex-commies among PO MPs than among PiS MPs. Should I re-post the list?

And Michnik's father and brother actually killed people in the name of the "father of the world proletariat and old lady Michnik tried to kill the souls of Polish school children with her pro-Stalin poison.

Balzerman whom you so admire was in the PZPR, as was Geremek and the godfather of the KOR-ite clique Kuroń. Somehow you never metnion that, Ignorance? Amnesia? Horse-blinkers? Prejudice? The choice is yours.

good move by Duda

I agree. Kamiński enjoys the reptuaiton of a crystal-clear anti-corrutpion activist and the founding father of the CBA. When the CBA strated going after the PO scammers and conmen, he had to be silenced. The presidential pardon will allow him to continue the PiS-led clean-up campaign. Sanacja bis as it were!

Life / Famous Polish people (that we have actually heard of) [231]

Gombrowicz and possibly Lem.

Of that trio the only goy was Gombrowicz, but infortuantely a pervert. Lem was the best writer (knowing Yiddish you may disagree). He cleverly poked fun at the red regime under the guise of sci-fi, and educated Poles readily read between the lines.

PiS are very much made up of the Communist nomeklatura

An outright, bald-faced lie. Of course, nothing new for you. See which party -- PO or PiS -- is riddled with nomenklatura types.

people like Gregy

I wonder what you would have done in Gregy's dad's shoes. Imagine that attaining your present lifestyle or something similar had depended on joining the party. Would your really have been a hero, gone underground and fought the regime? It's easy to point a finger except that the other three are pointing back at you.

PiS is not free of commies

Was it a simple oversight that you tended to focus on parents? If so why did you overlook Michnik from a family of red traitors with blood on their hands: Dad prominent in Stalin's Comintern, mum a sovietiser of Polish schoolchildren, brother a desk-top murderer. As for actual politicans (not their parents) card-carrying communists inlcuded Jacek Kuroń, Bronisław Geremek and Leszek Balcerowicz. Tadeusz Mazowiecki was not in the PZPR but supported the red regime by writing articles equating the underground resistance movement with Nazis alleging that Bishop Czesław Kaczmarek was an American and Vatican spy. Kazcmarek was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

So hunting for commies in PiS is a risky and tricky proposition for all except the horse-blinkered. The blinkers stop them seeing anything but PiS' alleged shortcomings and blunders.

Language / "Poles" or "Polish people" - which is better to use? [200]

Polishman

No, I said Polishman does NOT EXIST. I was trying to point out that nationalities such as Dutchman, Frenchman, Englishman, etc. have the Dutch, the French and the English. But the Polish, the Czech, the German, etc. are not used.

Language / "Poles" or "Polish people" - which is better to use? [200]

Pole or Polish

Since the start of the significant influx of Poles to the British Isles from 2004, one may often encoutner the term "the Polish" by analogy to "the French" or "the Irish". I wonder if that is correct. One does not say "the German" (adjective) but "the Germans" (plural noun). The adjectival version seems to be used mainly with nationalities where the singular ends in -man: Frenchman and the French, Irishman and the Irish. Since there is no Polishman, neither should oen say "the Polish". Whaddya think?
