News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

Ok, I agree with you, some of these things you are talking about are sick and definitely not for kids. But one needn`t ban LGBT to prevent such acts - because the existing regulations about indecent exposure to kids are well developed and it is enough to put them in force. Simple.

"very few" is too many.... unless you think flashing his crotch to kids is okay...

How many pantomime dames are registered sex offenders?

How many priests are registered as sex offenders? Yet, we don`t overthrow and ban religion, do we???

Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation [1756]

Thanks for the answers to the other idioms, I didn't do so well with those!

Come on, it is only a fun game, not a serious competition. Hey, you know Polish quite well. Why don`t you start a similar thread but reversed - English idioms in Polish translation. It could be fun, too.

Food / Origin of the pierogi [127]

I tried for the first time last year, pierogi containing lung, pierogi z płuckami?

Wow, amazing!

Now, I think I got a taste for pierogis with sushi filling. I must cook them one day.

Sounds as if the LGBT issue were a central question of it.

That`s good coz the more they talk about it, the more people get used to the issue. This 2% gap is a very optimistic prognosis for the future. Victory is close, we shall fight on. Poles must do their best to make Poland a fully Christian country where nobody is discriminated.

Well the majority of opposition posters where i am had graffiti such as " to lgbt" (this lgbt) so you might have a point.

That was perpetrated by poor brainwashed citizens who allowed false prophets to influence them. We should say prayers for them coz they don`t know what they are doing.

Classifieds / Looking for a Polish (Anglo speaking) mentor in the IT industry. [3]

I am looking for a career based mentor but also financial and personal as well.

That`s extremely interesting. I didn`t know there is such an institution called mentoring a stranger. Do mentors get paid for that? Is it sth like a life planner?

Or you meant sponsoring, in fact?

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

Yes, but being in favour of traditional values doesn`t exclude neutrality - I am afraid you missed that in my last post. If they were against LGBT, they wouldn`t go voting at all. Simple.

It is surprising you don`t understand that PIS made a plebiscite about LGBT and people perfectly realised it. That is why the result with 2% margin is a true clue how many people don`t consider LGBT a threat to Poles and Poland. Simple

In next elections, it will be 55%. In 10 years` time, 65%. You can`t stop the avalanche once it has moved. Simple.

Law / My Great GrandMother was born in Poland sometime before 1915 - any chance for Polish citizenship? [37]

No, you are not eligible coz there was a break in Polish citizenship between your emigrant ancestors and you. Your father didn`t have Polish citizenship as he was born in the USA. In this way, you did not inherit Polish citizenship through him and that`s the aforementioned break. To make sure, why don`t you contact the nearest Polish embassy or consulate? They offer the so called "Confirmation of Possession or Loss of Polish Citizenship" service.

I am really sorry.

PS. You have been helped by a kind Polish teacher.

Work / Medical jobs in Poland? [12]

it doesn't pay very well. At least I think a person doing Physiotherapy or Dental Hygiene (Dental Assistant) gets more, no?

Well, it depends. After several years of gradual advancement, you earn much more than as a novice teacher. At least in Poland, but I am sure Bulgaria has a similar system.

Real Estate / House owning in Poland - Questions - Which offices are involved? Rules. [26]

How can I know or get to know about this? Which Urzląnd's are involved?

Urząd Miasta - Municipal and Communal Office

but make them send all mails to my country's adress instead?

Offices don`t send emails, they send notices by regular post if there is a problem. The only exception was pandemia quarantine.

You mentioned removal of snow in winter. You will need sb to do it for you. Can`t that person collect your mail, too?

Can I set any czynsz I want or are there any limitations?

Yes, any you want.
Yes, you have to pay taxes for letting your property, it is natural.

As for heating, it depends on a winter - the last one was very mild - the temp in my summer house was always around 10 degrees C.

Love / What can I do so that this Pole will love me? Why does he act like a hero and then breaks my heart? [25]

I have bad experiences with female nature.

the true hypergamous nature of women.

Guys, I am sorry you have met only toxic women in your lives. Coz an evil woman she was! But you should know not all of them are such. Most women are wonderful beings who will go to the end of the world with you if you take good care of them.

But they have absolutely no intention of falling into the jaws of a marriage trap

That`s very irresponsible on their part. If there are less marriages, the number of kids will drop too coz women will bear them when they feel secure in a wedlock. That is why we need more immigrants who should bring their kids to make up for the falling population. All in all, diversity rulez!

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

Those 48% weren't votes in favour of militant LGBT. They weren't even in favour of Trzaskowski. Those were anti-Duda votes.

Of course, they were for unmilitant LGBT. Yes, anti-Duda whose party made LGBT the main issue in the campaign again. The result ? - anti Duda vote equals support or at least neutrality for LGBT.

I am really amazed you don`t get such simple things.

Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation [1756]

How I understand it is that one has met one's match.

Why not? Both are correct, meaning the same, only expressed differently - yours is more idiomatic, mine - descriptive. haha

to go grouse means to get really annoyed, like a male grouse.

to slice sb means to rip sb off. I just read about banks which are increasing service costs for clients.

Animals/pets are an important part of my life, so let`s focus on them for a while:

to have ostrich`s stomach/ like an ostrich

Will you be first in line to take the mandatory and insufficiently tested vaccine?

As a teacher, I must give a good example, especially that I believe in nationwide vaccination against various diseases. Polish teachers` motto is: First to Fight.

USA, Canada / Polish people in LA / California [28]

he USA most certainly extends charity to certain, special interest groups (but not Poles).

Did they receive that charity for nothing, or they fought for it ?

You say not Poles. Do Irish or German minorities receive any subsidies, too?

Many Slavic groups Asians, Africans, Hispanics are minority groups who also had it rough in America. such groups are now privileged in America

Wow, now I am really impressed by your sincerity. I thought you would shun my question as usual and I would have to reiterate it over and over again.

Now, pray tell me, why those minorities enjoy priviliges unknown to Poles.

And that's why diversity is a delusion

Of course it is a wrong presumption. The United States is an amazing and daring experiment. No other country in the world has so successfully blended millions of people of different race, background, culture and language. Yet, though blended into one American nation through the melting pot, they still display huge diversity. And that is the power of America. When asked, seldom do American guys think and talk about emigration - they feel good in their country

The expectation of assimilation in America was ruthlessly applied to Poles

Did it apply only to Poles or other minorities too?

Any Polish organizations which do exist are not and never were lobbying groups because they don't have the money

I heard that if you have no money in America, you are a loser and you can blame only yourself. So, it was Poles` choice they prefered to remain so tightfisted and saved their cents in the socket to buy houses and cars, instead of maintaining lobby groups who would fight for their cause.

Tell me, how is it that Hispanics moved higher up the social ladder than Poles, at least according to what you are saying here. Weren`t they much poorer than Poles before?

And sadly many are comprised and run by people in your age group and so they have your virtue-signaling mindset

Hah! And now we have finally arrived at a revelational conclusion. hahahahaha

No, I will tell you who is to blame for the lousy status of Poles in America. It is your own fault, and especially rightists like you who reject diversity. By doing so, you try to impose only one way of thinking and working out of things, and it is always only YOUR OWN way. Sorry, but it is understandable that such an approach must provoke resistance in your potential partners.

In this way, rejecting diversity, you also reject compromise which is necessary to act as one group, united. If Poles were united in the USA, politicians of various affiliations would be ready to win their support as of a powerful group of influence. But you are not united. Because of their silly character, American Poles have always been divided and at loggerheads. Why? Because some of them have retained the worst traits of native Poles: they are vengeful, aggressive, intolerant, envious and narrow-minded. I have seen it also here, in the forum when two guys of the same ideological stance, rightwing, wanted to rip each other`s throats.

All in all, it is your fault Poles are neglected and disregarded in America. Stop whining, change your old ways, give up your traditional enmity to each other and speak as one group. Then American will hear and appreciate you.

Please cut down on the number of quotes.

Food / Origin of the pierogi [127]

are not skansens, frozen in the past and incapable of creativity or development.

Exactly. One cannot contain diversity, it is a natural process alongside progress or a result of it. Hence, the question concerning diversity is not if, but when and how long it takes to introduce it.

That is why I will never cease to wonder why some people reject diversity if it is so natural.

Food / Origin of the pierogi [127]

I bought some chili con carne pierogi from somewhere in Kraków a while ago, they were excellent!

Yes, one can stuff pierogis with ingredients from all over the world. Is tradition undermined in any way? No, it is only strengthened coz the dish is still pierogis. People who prefer exotic tastes don`t need to look for them in other countries, they can do it in Poland using time-honoured pierogis, only slightly modified.

Diversity rulez in case of multinational pierogis coz they allow citizens to enjoy worldly life while staying in the country!! International pierogis are the best dish for every patriotic Pole!

Notice how this chap immediately resorted to posting links from dubious far-right websites

That chap is our old friend. hahaha As for the link, I immediately smelled the rat seeing such primitive vocabulary in the quote. Do researchers from the Uni of BC use such words as phonies, showoffs, folks, etc. in their scientific papers??? hahaha

USA, Canada / Polish people in LA / California [28]

But America did nothing to support Polish communities from maintaining the Polish language, Polish traditions, etc.

Because America has always been a ruthless country where every man/woman is for himself/herself. It is strange you don`t know it and seem to be surprised the USA isn`t a charity. No, it isn`t.

Poles were not only unsupported but singled-out, discouraged and even shamed

Were they singled out and humiliated as the only minority or it also happened to other minorities?

abandoning Polish identity and instead assimilating into a bland melting pot

But America`c concept of a country has always been based on the idea of a melting pot. Why do you want to turn back the tide now? Do you imagine all this mess and chaos if the USA weren`t a melting pot?????

a privilege which does not extend to Poles.

Stop crying. In a ruthless country, you only get priviliges that you are able to secure for yourself on your own. Poles were never strong lobbysts of their cause in the USA, hence they are overlooked and ignored. Simple.

I can say it is also your fault - as a person of Polish descent, instead of fighting for more priviliges for Polish minority, you are wasting time in the casual discussion forum. Drop this useless complaining and perpetual whining, stand up and fight for your fekking rights at last!

Food / Origin of the pierogi [127]

Since we are not sure of origin maybe pierogi themselves pushed out something else?

One day I entered a pierogi eatery in the open-air market in a big city in Poland. I was shocked to see such a variety of pierogis - apart from classic onjes: meat, cabbage, mushrooms, etc etc, they were about 2 dozen other stuffings available. Still remember broccoli stuffing - yuk! hahaha I bought some which looked the craziest.

I hate boiled broccoli but some people like it. The versatile offer of the above mentioned eatery allows people to satisfy their multiple and different needs. Simply speaking, diversity rulez!

History / Piłsudski, like Hitler and Stalin (according to some Lithuanians) [144]

which seized Wilno region for Poland.

Of course, I was thinking of secured, not seized. Sometimes my thoughts wander off too much.

nd, after all, to whom he revealed anything? Who is that witness?

It was Żeligowski himself who confided in his subordfinate officers, among others heroic Witold Pilecki.

Study / Looking for studies in Poland - Bachelor of Technology [5]

The offer of courses in B. Tech and Engineering is limited coz most engineering studies here require 5 year Master degree.
Check this site
bachelorsportal.com/search/#q=ci-20|di-7|lv-bachelor|tc-EUR

Probably the best in the list is Warsaw Uni of Technology.

Jobs? Versatile but you won`t get paid as much as a Master degree holder.
