Life / Racism in Poland - the future [558]

Pierdolski likely had a point! There are many accounts of such valiant efforts to save innocent lives. Many Jews hardly endeared themselves to the Poles yet the Poles still tried to help where possible.

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1090]

I only said it based on the lack of cogent replies I got from many Poles. They are generally happy to put food on the table and be with their families.

As for Poland's position on the international stage, it's far from clear at times.

Are you suggesting that Poland isolate itself, Ironside? Only the views of Poles matter, is that what you are saying? So, inward investment is ok to prop up Polish business but any other input isn't?

The fact is, Ironside, most Poles don't have a clue what the Polish voice really is. Rather ironic! I've asked many times and not one Pole could give me a satisfactory answer. Time to look within again, methinks.

Wow, that's a huge point I made and you think it doesn't matter? Ironside, try reminding yourself that foreigners associate Poland with communism and this is far from accurate. Poles had many commies in their ranks but the Eastern aspect was imposed on them. I can't believe you see fit to dismiss this.

Genealogy / Auberzinski family name [18]

Turkish? That sounds about right. Many Americans don't know what an aubergine is. Oberzinski may be the right name.

Some Poles claim to know the meaning of aubergine as they told me it was sth similar in Polish. It's egg plant in America, nasu in Japanese. The name could exist but I'd go with SHT above.

News / "POLISH death camps" term used by "Parade Magazine" Anti-Polish Bigots [249]

I don't see what Poland did wrong to justify the alleged smearing of walls with sh9t etc when Israelis come here. Death camps are just absurd! There may have been a few rogue Poles that participated in unsavoury activity but they are very much in the minority.

It's absolutely staggering that Jews pop up on almost every thread. The population of Israel is only 1 million more than that of Scotland for crying out loud. Besides, it's old news. Where is the talk of modern Poland?

Death camps in Poland more like. You have to be careful with terminology.

News / US to deploy Patriot missiles to Poland [405]

Sb here said the deal has already been done. Political opportunism on Tusk's part. Russia didn't want him to buy them but he took advantage of the more harmonious political climate between Poland and Russia. If he is trying to modernise Poland, then fine. However, others are scaling back on that front to move towards fewer weapons. Given Poland's history, getting those missiles would be no bad thing.

No, I don't want it to grow at all. I'm just saying that the Western press manipulates us too much.

Patriot missiles? Odd business!

Of course not, that's the point! Many would like you to believe that Islam is completely radical. Some Muslim countries are not that aggressive at all, look at Jordan.

Colonisation was done for selfish reasons. Anyway, this is about missiles. Why does Poland need them? Why not invest in the roads here?
