News / What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus? [1800]

Belarussian economy is gradually collapsing. I already wrote about the end of Silicon Valley in Minsk. Besides, export has fallen by 20% in the first half year. Plants pay workers with their products instead of money.

help him stay in power and make EU be as helpful. he will have an option or more options than Russia.

Wrong, of course! The weaker he gets politicaly, the more he has to rely on Russia. Poland and the EU can`t close an eye to brutal dealing with the opposition or protesters and Putin remains Lukashenka`s only support. That means further integration of two countries - that`s what Putin has been advocating for years but Belarussian president resisted coz he tried to keep his independence. Not his country`s, but his own. Now he won`t have a choice.

Iron, you are talking like a Kremlin troll again. Have you returned to the job in the Factory? How much are you paid in 2020? I am just curious.

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1090]

Under the rule of rightwing PiS, Poland has returned to Eastern European zone. Dozens of anti democratic scandals has reversed the positive perception of a Central European country which Poland had been slowly working on since the collapse of communism.

More and more journalists, politicians, experts, think tank members are prone to place Poland in Eastern Europe., close to autocratic Belarus or Russia.

Thank you, PiS.

Life / Warsaw - what's there to love? Semi-livable city? [42]

With a score of 78 percent, Poland's capital is placed 71st in the global livability survey of 140 cities.

In 2018, Warsaw was ranked 65th city in the world. The improvement seems steady. Whenever I visit Warsaw, I feel so relaxed and free.

Language / Determining the gender of some nouns in Polish. [6]

yes -there is a female counterpart of poeta and its poetka

Gumi, the OP also asked about the dubious gender of sędzia and you seem to have ignored it. Why? Isn`t there a rule for it?

'razzle' doesn't AFAIK...

to go on the razzle exists.

(or is that something else?) what about others, are there patterns?

Hmm, I am afraid you have to ask a teacher of Polish, not English, to explain it. hahaha

Life / Poland - abandon all logic [25]

There's still the shadow of truth there. How would you re-write it for 2012?

Yes, today, in 2020, I have to retract my opinion uttered in 2012. Poland under rightard rulers from PiS perfectly reminds the one descirbed by Davies in 1970s.

Visas have been abolished. Good. But the entry can still be denied by an immigration clerk at the airport. There have been hundreds such cases so far.

Love / English Guy/Polish Women - what makes her tick? [4]

Try to think of something better.

Eg., the invocation from the unforgettable epic poem Pan Tadeusz would be great. He would prove his high intelligence by reciting it.

Lithuania, my country! You are as good health:
How much one should prize you, he only can tell
Who has lost you. Your beauty and splendour I view
And describe here today, for I long after you.

Love / English Guy/Polish Women - what makes her tick? [4]

but i would love to know what makes her tick

I have just read an article about things which turn women on. Firstly, it is a sense of humour, coz it proves man`s intelligence. Secondly, it is an altruistic attitude to other people and animals - such males are adored by women. It is easy to guess why.

sunderland.ac.uk/more/news/story/Study-finds-altruistic-men-are-more-desirable-to-women-than-good-looks-59

If she is a typical woman, these two characteristics should work fine. I have used them all my life and they never let me down.

Travel / Hiking and Camping Trails in Poland [51]

The last but one step is Beskid Niski Mountains - Low Beskid - known for its Lemko minority culture. As Orthodox believers, t hey build wonderful churches for their denomination. Don`t forget about several dozens WW1 cemeteries - a major battle between Austro-Hungarian and Russian armies took place in the area.

See more Orthodox churches here. Some were turned into Catholic churches after WW2.

Life / The climate for gardening in Poland [340]

Funny, but I am the only person who plants and later takes care of flowers in the garden. My wife is completely indifferent to the floral topics.

Do you know any of these?:

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

Has it already been mentioned here that after coming to power in 2015, PiS rulers promised to develop the industry able to provide Poles with 1 million electric cars made in Poland?

Today, not only has nothing been built, but there are even no existing designs for such a car.
Thank you, PiS.

Work / Can I find a non-corporate job in Poland? [34]

Ok I've tried giving psychologic advice on Viber

Hmm do you mean you played an amateur online counsellor ???

Maybe I can try becoming a veterinarian or dental technician instead?

Yes, they do, especially in cities where people keep a lot of pets. Two years ago one of our elder cats got dehydrated during summer and the treatment (examination, mediacation and two injections) cost us about 600 PLN.

Classifieds / PZU Insurance [2]

PZU is the biggest state insurance company. Always has been.

Unfortunately, it is controlled by the ruling -party PiS who treat it as cash cow. They install their members in the board where they receive gigantic salaries. Here is an article about certain PiS politician who knew nothing about economy but earned 3 million within 2.5 years as an executive in PZU.

oko.press/byla-szefowa-kancelarii-dudy-dostala-z-pzu-27-mln-zl-wynagrodzenia-i-384-tys-zl-innych-swiadczen/

Nice.

That is why when in 2018 I bought a car, PZU offer was 1800 PLN for basic insurance. I checked another company, Proama, and it amounted to 650 - three times less. To be honest, the last time I used PZU was in communist times and shortly after.

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

Sitting on a branch you are sawing the end off doesn't sound a great idea to be honest.........

But still much better than sitting at the end of the branch and sawing it in the middle. hahaha I saw it in looney cartoonz with Huckleberry dog or Yogi bear. Luckily, I am not a rightard to do such things.

Language / Polish versions for English words? ! [34]

Ptak, you used super duper in one of your messages. I was planning to ask you if you were still staying in Poland in 1980s coz that was when I heard this phrase for the first time at the university. Now I see it has its entry in online dictionaries.

Are you sure it is an English invention, not Polish? Duper is close to dupa.

Sorry, no, no no.
I meant a major improvement. Hint - it wasn`t my initiative, but the housing estate manegement`s decision to introduce it in all their apartment blocks. They even organised a mock referendum among residents.

Dolno, Harvest festivals aren`t in May - there is nothing to harvest yet - as a farmer, you should know about it. hahaha

Food / What Polish foods and brands do you miss when you go to other countries? [216]

whilst most British fruit cakes are best left for a couple of days for the flavours to develop

Wow, like bigos in Poland! Also best when heated several times.

There is a commercially made ground spice mix called 'mixed spice'

Another wow. Yes, you can buy everything in GB.

And obviously people in the UK cook.....what a ridiculous statement from pawian

You read too fast, I am afraid. Did you recently graduate from a fast reading course? hahahaha . Go back and read my message again - as an intelligent woman, you will certainly find out what I wanted to say about traditional English cuisine. hahahaha

Her calzone recipe is especially

My words exactly. Is calzone a traditional English dish?? hahahaha

News / What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus? [1800]

It is visible that peaceful demos are useless and people only lose blood in vain.

They are going to also lose a lot of money. E.g, Belarussian well developed IT sector (World of Tanks etc) has been attacked by Lukashenka`s henchmen - they cut off the Internet or even arrest managers. Now most of IT companies are planning to transfer their headquarters and workers to other countries. It is business which brought Belarus 2 billion $ per year - they called it the Belarussian Silicon Valley.

The dictator is visibly hurting the economy which will result in the drastic worsening of living standards soon. Belarussians have no choice now - they can`t allow him to rule anymore or they will eat grass like North Koreans during famine.

REVOLUTION! But are they determined enough to overthrow the cockroach, as they call him?
