Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

I am sure we talked about tongues/ozory about two weeks ago. But I can`t find the discussion in which most people were disgusted. Including maf.

So, maf, if you cook ozory properly, they don`t remind you of flaki. They are pure meat, have a look. In the dish below, I boiled them and then fried them in batter. They were crispy but soft inside. Delicious.

I was looking for something of more significance.

That was a very serious matter. We purchased 2.5 more items than usual.

Obviously you were going to buy quite a few if you were stockpiling..........

But during our usual weekly shopping we don`t buy 20 cartons - 5 are enough.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

The kind of students I like to deal with is the ones who have a hobby in which they have a constant contact with English - they know a lot of words and phrases and are usually very good at face-to-face communication

What hobbies do some of my talented students practise? :
playing online games internationally .
reading and watching mangha comic stories and cartoons
watching youtube films about one`s fav subject - particularly - history of WW2

last but not least - listening to songs of one`s fav singers or groups. That was myhobby when young - probably in my archives I still keep those yellowish sheets of A4 paper with typewritten lyrics of rock songs - I put down the translations and then tried to memorise them.

I remember a funny conversation with certain father - he complained his son spent whole days playing silly games and didn`t want to study. I told him that his son was very good at English and I could only wish all my students were like him. The father was very surprised and left in thoughful silence.

However, there is a problem when such students need to revise for a test - then they usually skip the revision, believing they are so good they will get excellent results anyway. That is mostly not so easy, though.

Life / The climate for gardening in Poland [340]

There are two fruit which I am still picking right now. Mini kiwis - their taste is simply delicious - the same as big kiwi but better - more delicate. They can ripen at home, so you don`t need to look for soft ones to harvest. I already picked 3 kilos from one plant this year but next years will be much better after 20 plants we have in the orchard become mature. I was cheated 4 years ago when we planted the first mini kiwis - I bought some no-names in a supermarket and they turned males instead of females. You need one male for 5-6 female plants. This year they flowered for the first time after 3-4 years and I saw half of them were males. Cheaters! So, we planted new ones and now have about 20.

Disadvantages? Practically none - they are not preyed upon by any insects, but the only problem is spots on the skin which is also edible. But professional growers also complain about spots and encourage customers to ignore them.

The only fruit which is still growing and ripening is Goji berry - half of fruit on the plants is still green, but I hope they will ripen before winter. I also had issues with these plants - I bought and planted 2 no-name plants and left them alone coz I was busy with more important things. After 3 years it turned out a little disaster - they grew long and exuberant, but had very few small fruit. I did research and found out you need two varieties next to each other for better pollination. I got the variety called NO 1. Wow, amazing results. Now, all 5 bushes are on the verge of brewaking down under the weight of their fruit.

The taste - it is unique - sweet combined with bitter and sour. My family refuses to eat them but I have loved all exotic fruit - as usual - since childhood.

Disadvantages? None aboutr fruit but the plant itself is very invasive with its root shoots and needs constant control and checking. At first I had bought two, then I found out I had 5 after 3 years! Now I have also decided to shape them into small trees.

Dmowski agenda was to choose Russia over Germany. Today`s rightards from PiS and fascists from Konfederacja appear to follow that course, even if they don`t reveal their preferences in public. But if we don`t contain them today, one day they might happily agree to another Russian domination over Poland.

Of course it is. Don`t play such a fool. Would Belarus be allowed to access the EU now? No. Why? Coz it is a dictatorship. Can the EU close an eye to Poland gradually turning into a dictatorship under PIS? No. Isn`t it simple?

Maybe not, but as said it is up to poles to sort it out.

Fortunately, we are backed by European institutions which stick to law. Belarussians arent` so lucky - they are only backed by Russia. You are doing your best to lead to such a situation in Poland. too. Get lost, traitor. Or not traitor? coz you are not Polish anymore. Now, you can only claim you were born in Poland. So, there wouldn`t be Gazeta Wyborcza which substantially contributed to the ultimate fall of communism. Michnik was a staunch anticommunist since 1968 and communists had a lot of problems with him throughout 70s and 80s. A great man, Poland shall remember his noble deeds.

Every day the kitten displays amusing behaviour. So, one day he got fascinated with the tortoise which had left its home for a while. The tortoise was marching across the floor, and Diego was marching close behind, at the same pace. Funny as hell.

Today, Diego recalled he is a baby and did his best to suck Ginger. He pushed and pushed until he got under Ginger and actually sucked his belly.. Amazing. Ginger didn`t mind. Greyfus is too old to bond with the kitten - he either leaves or scares Diego off with a raised paw.
