News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [996]

I know those words. But I see you lose track of your own thoughts and statements too often. What is the matter with you? Or you are doing it on purpose when the situation becomes uncomfortable for you??

We were discussing if democracy is the best system or not. You suggested that non-democratic China is faring better than old democracies like the USA or EU. I asked where you would prefer to live keeping the same financial status that you have now.

Why are you evading a simple question???

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

Of course not. We don`t have a problem with setting quotas of women and coloured people for top positions. White males in top positions tended to choose other white males and the circle was closed. They rejected women and blacks only on the basis of reproductive organs and race, now it is forbidden. And we have our perfect balance in nature. Simple.

Once elected, one loser decides everything,

Now you are talking about the USA while I meant a parliamentary republic. Sorry for not stating it clearly.

Except that King wants to preserve his kingdom for his kingly son.

WHo can be equally or even a lousier loser than himself.

WE, the US and China. Which one is on the upswing?

Where would you prefer to live: USA or China???? Let`s assume you would have the same financial/material status in both.

As one wise man said

Yes, I know that saying from one of my textbooks.

But I also know another one: democracy has multiple faults and shortcomings, but it is still the best system that people invented. Or sth similar. Do you know who said it, without googling???

So, it is a saying against a saying. Draw?? hahaha

feels and acts responsible

Unless he is nuts, like that George who lost America..

the Rzeczpospolita Szlachecka may be also example to look up t

Of course not. The cowardly king Stanislaw August didn`t want to fight and surrendered Poland to Russians, forfeiting 3 May Constitution and all his reforms coz the result was the second partition, soon followed by the third. And few other controvercial Polish kings aren`t really an example to follow.

That is why reasonable people invented democracy and republic to avoid such situations when one loser decides about everything. .

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

My father never belonged to PZPR but still had many benefits

That`s like mine.
But you missed the point - I remodelled your slogan into party members only coz we were talking about executives/directors. Only party members could be ones.

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

Crucial. Because we need to modify your slogan - not party members first, but party members only. While with sex equality in workplaces, it is never only.

it compulsory to put women in seniors position and Poland doesn't

Not yet. But the trend already present in the USA and Western Europe will surely reach Poland too.

News / Hołownia - a rising star in Polish politics? [94]

In Poland you can be sued for this kind of slander.

hahaha Threats instead of a source?? Nice.

Prove what you were saying about Hołownia and I will take back my words. I can even apologise for unjustified suspicions.
We are waiting.

News / Hołownia - a rising star in Polish politics? [94]

call people to the street at the same time you chill your ass in spa

The problem is that you have a long history of lies and manipulations in the forum. We still don`t believe that the events you are talking about actually took place. Probably you are mistaking him with sb else.

You`d better provide a link instead of making tall stories. Simple.

all those go fight words and then he send thanks for letting his use a spa

So, you suggest politicians fighting for a good cause, that is the removal of gansters from power and general progress and happiness, mustn`t use spas and other forms of relaxation??

Hmm, I am a bit doubtful it is a right approach of yours. Everybody has a right to chill out.

News / Why Poland has no problem with terrorism [64]

Local terrorists instead of foreign ones.
An ex student entered his old junior high school, threw home-made bombs into a classroom ,shot at students and the caretaker. Fortunately, nobody died. He faces life sentence now.

Genealogy / Polish equivalent of "Jessie"? [48]

The first name Zdzisław seems a bit old fashioned today. I haven`t had a student with that name for ..... hmm, about 15 years.

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

I like everything in growing our own veg, even weeding coz I can still have exercise and lose some weight doing it. But I dislike one thing doing which I feel I am losing time: washing the veg. We are accustomed to buying clean produce in supermarkets and even in open air market they sell it washed. Our own crop is different - the clayish soil is hard to remove and I have to brush each piece separately. So boring.

Besides, it is not only washing but also cutting off those leaves. Today I have dug out all carrots and beetroots which I had left in the field in autumn. Now I am processing two buckets of them for longer storage. So, to keep them fresh as long as possible , they need to be stored without that green leafy part, in temp around 1 - 2 C, and humidity over 90%.

In the past, a male would proudly drop his prey onto the floor and told his female to take care of it. Well, sometimes my wife gives a hand when I am busy and have to do long hours at work, but mostly it is me who does the dirty job. Most of that gardening and farming is my own hobby so it would be unfair to impose it on others, especially such unpleasant stuff.

Sigh, I have finished at last. I couldn`t resist having fun, as usual, I started throwing small carrots at my daughter, pretending they were dirty. And the cat joined in and wanted to hunt and actually grabbed and ran away with one carrot. She is funny as hell.

PS. (I have processed even the tiniest carrots, not bigger than my nail, my kids think they are amusing)

Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation [1756]

The ground will be unstable and prone to collapse?

Yes, and the idiom applies to people, not gardens. In what way?

Tea in China? We also have for no treasure in the world.

Anxious?

Nope, insecure coz when the ground collapses under your feet, you lose balance.

When we seperate UJ from 4U, will it be easier?

No, plastic is unsuitable a material for such a big structure. But I will tell you coz I can`t stand this pain any longer. It is a church in the shape of a submarine. .

News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [996]

I have never encountered someone Polish who knew communism who would make that comparison

Nationalists do. Korwin Mikke, for example, all the time.

But how many nationalists do you know personally in real life??? I knew one but that was 20 years ago.

Language / Rozumiesz - I have a question on Polish language. [11]

But: nie nie, rozumiem means rozumiem

Yes, it looks funny in writing when one comma changes the meaning. But in speaking you use a different stress and pausing, so it is obvious what you want to convey.

Food / What Polish foods do foreigners generally not take to? [140]

I once travelled a lot to do countryside courses. Occassionally I dined at a certain forest restaurant where I had gypsy`s potato pancakes and a glass of hot red borsch which was doubly hot - temp and seasoning.. That combination of tastes was so unique that I remember it even now though it was in 1991 - 93. Wow.
