Language / Slavic languages words similarities with Polish [240]

Can you communicate in Czech?

Language / Slavic languages words similarities with Polish [240]

Vlad I must admit I very much like the Russian language especially it's melodiousness - but I like quite a number of languages for their sound including German

to my embarassment though when I met Russian people in England in the early 2000's most of words that came to my mind while trying to speak Russian were Czech - to my justification after my school years i had almost none contact with your language and instead I watched a lot Czech TV which I preffered to Polish TV stations - I live near the border with the Czech Republic

So, non of the similarities I've p

hmm it's not that I knew every single Russian word you posted to be honest - more like about half of them - but I am not surprised with similarities between the two languages

All of whom? I suspect many people in Poland are ignorant about

hmm maybe I put too much trust in my fellow Poles - I personally learned Russian in elementary school and was ever since aware of things our languages share (but also in notable differences) - well we should bear in mind that there are now generations of Poles who barely had ever contact with Russian (but my 10-year-old nephew knows cyka-blyat from web-based games :P

Brother - Brat, braciuszek - Brat, bratuszka

it's ok Vlad, we all know that Russian and Polish have similar vocabulary in their cores - then didn't stop both nations to fight wars though - hopefully we won't see any more of these

News / Degenerate "rainbow" eyesore to disappear from Saviour Square (Plac Zbawiciela) in Warsaw [297]

: gays are born gay

Rich - gays are indeed born gay - buuuut - gays were not created gay - being gay is a matter of a choice made many incarnations before - a choice that was further reinforced through subsequent decisions - the choice was made because the soul in question held females or a female element responsible for the fall in consciousness instead of accepting the soul's sole responsibility - it is similar with lesbians - the picture is further complicated by the fact that many souls in present were forced to inhabit the bodies of the sex that is not preferred by the soul - that's why you have effeminate gays and butches on the opposite side of the spectrum

populism.

everyone knows populism is evil - especially those who benefit from 500+

and well we all know that VAT mafias were fairy tales - and that there is no money to cover for 500+ expenses - and that budget deficit is exorbitant as of november 2018 - a staggering minus 6 billion PLN - I hope you know what deficit in negative numbers means

But there hardly any content - one article every two months....

you must have read the notesfrompoland.com website - the Notes from Poland facebook profile is much more lively but there is an obvious bias to it

Work / Living in Poland with income from the US. [44]

5-6,000 Zloty

it is doable - we as a family of four live for not much more than 4000 Zloty but our rent is quite cheap cause we live in the countryside

Genealogy / What does my Polish name mean? [402]

I read that "Ski" is a "from"

yes indeed

the place name (a village most probably-never heard of such a town) could have been Jew or Jewo - the name has nothing to do with Jews or Jewishness - a Jew in Polish is "żyd" - Jew or Jewo are probably old forms or derivates of 'jaw' which means sort of visible, uncovered

Language / Harmless old-fashioned Polish swear words/phrases [159]

Something about... jak wrone to krakasz jak I one.. when you hang out with crows (meant to mean a bad crowd) you speak/act like them

kiedy wejdziesz między wrony, musisz krakać tak jak one

Life / Why Do You Love Poland? [907]

Who has been feeding you HS?

he must be an avid consumer of TVN Fakty - Dougpol you know living off TVN Fakty news is similar to living in a parallel universe

What was the point in fighting tanks on horses?

you actually believe Poles fought tanks on horses? oh well let me see - German propaganda and a commie filmmaker have swayed the world opinion it seems

Walesa wasn't scared,

Wałęsa wasn't scared because he was brought to the shipyard by SB on a motorboat specifically to dismantle the strike which he almost managed to accomplish

Dougpol is just furious he cannot effectively change anything in Poland by means of his own powers (the powers he believes he has) that's why he comes here and moans

News / How strongly are Poles sure that president Duda defend Poland's interests ? [265]

If brat Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński say: ,,Duda eat sh**.`` Duda won`t eat sh**.

first of all Kaczyński would never tell Duda to eat **** or probably anybody - he sort of has manners - the other thing is Kaczyński and Duda played in the same team but now Kaczyński has to take into account that Duda might not agree with him on some points although they still mostly play into the same goal

Like SKOK you mean?

the only major SKOK scandal was with SKOK Wolomin that was run by the aquintances of Bronisław Komorowski from former WSI (military secret services) - if there were any involvment of PiS in the SKOK Wołomin which happened long before PO lost power - PO would thouroughly investigate it including setting up a partliamentary commission like the one that PiS set up to investigate the Amber Gold affair

Life / Why Do You Love Poland? [907]

Walesa on the other hand is only guilty of being not very bright and bombastic.

Walesa is an ego maniac, who among others promised every adult person in Poland 100 000 000 in old Polish zlotys to secure his presidency in 1992 - even now this amount is a rather biggish sum for an average family in Poland (100 000 000 PLZ is more than 20 000 PLN in current prices) and he is a major traitor of the people

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

Apparently, for many men, it's not the physical presence - the smell just doesn't go away no matter how much they shower and clean.

mafketis never had a foreskin so he doesn't know what it is like - so he resorts to some wild imaginations

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

I think (I may be wrong though) that it was Jewish doctors in the US that spread the notion that circumcision is somehow medically beneficial in order for Jews not to stick out like sore thumbs with their circumcised penises

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

That would be the stupid person that really could care what the pro's

johnny just from my experience - I live over 40 years with a foreskin and never had any health issues caused by it even though I not always took shower or bathed every day - in fact in my childhood I only bathed once a week - and not a single health problem caused by the foreskin - so medical pro's of circumcision are in my view rather dubious - I also never heard of anyone I know have issues because of having a foreskin - do you want more proof circumcision is completely unnecessary

News / Poles march against Mandatory poisoning by vaccines [202]

It takes quite a high amount of paranoia and lack of scientific understanding to convince yourself that vaccination is a bad idea.

if you die or face other serious health problems because of vaccination it surely was a bad idea to undergo it
