Genealogy / Funny Polish surnames [64]

I dont believe you... she has to be nuts to take her husband name "Ruchała" and keep her family name "Bosko". No woman would do that!! No way...

Of course not, but let’s get the facts straight in this case. In an interview prior to the wedding she has stated that she will not hyphenate the name for obvious reasons. Ruchała was in fact her maiden mane and it was her future husband whose family name was Bosko which works equally well in Polish.

Life / Are Polish roads really this bad? [237]

Does it? Perhaps viewing the bridge collapse in Minnesota, watching Chicago pothole problem, etc. might change your mind. The problem is so dire there that the locals call those orange road construction cones a state flower. Yup I've seen it on youtube.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

The smoky bars

Don’t knock it, you should try it in Australia, it would do wonders for the baby boom. Beer goggles’ are not enough, sometimes you have to blur your vision even more, even the ugly woman needs loving too you know. LOL Good reason for my chain smoking, wouldn’t you agree?

Polish have no sense of humor

I hope that this dispels those stereotypes.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

And it seems that you have some growing up to do: calling somebody a moron or a half wit because he didn't like his pirogis served with oil.

That’s not what he said though is it? He said

There's some restaurants that cook their pierogies in plain oil which is disgusting...

Which is questionable since you would think that Poles know how to make pierogi and makes you wonder where that rasteurant was at? U.S perhaps? They are not cooked in oil like french fries, fried chicken or chimichanga but how would he know that when he grew up on that kind of diet, they are boiled in water that’s the cooking method. If he hates them in butter sauce he should have ordered them plain or whatever. The choice of souce is his mistake and fault especially if he thinks it’s disgusting and gross. When I was in states I also had unpleasant experiences in restaurants but I would never claim it’s a uniquely American thing where they serve disgusting food, I don’t like the food I go elsewhere simple. Let me revise my statement he is a moron and a buffoon if he thinks that pierogi are cooked in oil or that visiting a questionable establishment or having unpleasant experience in restaurant is a unique Polish thing, yah rrrrrrright! Same goes for Shilas b1tching.

What makes Poland look bad is the people here that think they fiercely defend it, like, for example, this thread? It ended with poster being called a homo

Oh please, there’s plenty of criticism to go around haven't you hear Poles b1tch?, but most of you don’t know shite about Poland and watching those so called documentaries is just plain dumb, you have no idea what’s it all about. Yanks are just being anal about it and point out the things that they themselves have problems with in their own neck of the woods, show me one unique legit pet peeve that can be solely viewed as polish phenomena. As soon as criticism is directed at you, you cry foul play and yankee bashing american haters; grow up.

Like an anonymous poster can be taken seriously, she has a personal agenda.

1. There's some restaurants that cook their pierogies in plain oil which is disgusting...

Are you a complete moron or simply a halfwit? Have you ever watch your mom cook pierogi? If you did you would never make a moronic statement like this.

A lot of this can be verified by watching the Polish documentary - Dzien Swira!

You do realize that this is a comedy, right? Watching movies you can’t comprehend is not really a road trip, is it? Besides it’s not for kids.

Love / Is rape so common in Poland? [95]

@abhishek06
Just the fact that you dwell on this subject would give me enough of a reason to think twice if being around you is safe, if I was a girl that is, who knows what you might plan in that sick head of yours. Think about it a lot, you perv? It’s not healthy you know. Perhaps it’s time to get some professional help.

History / Polish pirates [58]

because as everyone knows the english would never want to tarnish the good name of an irishman ;)

Actually a Pole of an Irish ancestry but his Wiki entry won’t have this as it was a small episode in his life and he is a Polish Hero after all. ;)

Good find: Olszewski exploits were published in a Warsaw weekly “Wędrowiec” at the end of the 19th century.

Ignacy Blumer (O'Bloomer) but you won’t find this interesting trivia in his English biography as not to tarnish his good name.

Not really, read up on what happen to the Polish legions in Haiti, even an Irishman that made his fortune in the 2 short years they prowled those waters settled in Warsaw a rich man.

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4500]

Wow, thanks again

No problem, hopefully you’re one step closer in your research, good luck.
Once again translations would be as follow:
Zatorski – from a barrier town.
Bruchal – a breaker (unless it’s from Yiddish which very well may have a different meaning)
Kuśnierz - fur maker.
Have a look back at this tread soon, Polonius3 might have some more insight on those surnames.

News / Polish PM Tusk- dictator or not? What Poles think? [455]

why then crook rule Poland?

Because the precedence set at the round table for the way the ruling elite were treated were misguided. Forgiveness goes a long way but I’m a firm believer that sometimes you do have to set an example and punish those at the top leadership positions for their sins so those who aspire to be the future leaders won’t abuse their privileged status and will think twice about the way they govern in the future. It’s amazing what influence can the concept of consequences for your action can do.

BDW, many nice people from Polish leadership died in that plane but, crook Tusk survived decapitation of Poland

Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Food / Eat goulash from a cat and a steak from a dog in Poland! [114]

Rover is not on the menu.

Just last week I had nice exchange with a Korean lady about culinary arts of our respective cultures, sorry to disappoint you but it seems that poor Reksio is on the menu not only in Vietnam.

History / Was Daniel Fahrenheit a Pole? [138]

so many Germans who intermingled with Poles had also their ounce jewish heritage in them..ergo... ;)

Interesting theory but you’re forgetting one thing, those were the first Poles tp leave Dodge, now they are back on the German soil intermingling with the locals for the past 25 years.

History / Was Daniel Fahrenheit a Pole? [138]

how do you know how he felt about himself? Since there's no other proof but the fact that he was born as a German, he's to be seen as such, don't you think?

Not exactly, when he was fifteen his parents died suddenly so he was sent to Amsterdam that would make him Dutch where he lived most of his life..

Genealogy / Jewish Roots of Poland [638]

There is no need to manipulate what you said:

It’s also very hard for you to be out of character, so yes you constantly have the urge and you constantly do too.

I did indeed say it here.

Big deal!!!!!

So you mean I did not say anything even remotely like

On contrary, you constantly say it, imply it, perhaps not in those exact terms but still.

Ah what's the point of discussing anything with you anyway, it's like explaining quantum physics to an ant.
