In general.... the new big apartment complexes being built look far less.... livable than the old commie era osiedle made up of panel buildings (bloki z wielkiej płyty)

Especially in spring summer the old osiedla are greener and the buildings are spaced better and trees offer shade and there are easily accesible stores etc.... the new buildings are built too close together with no green spaces at all...

Why does everyone hate them? I remember when their main player was a French diva (the type who didn't do teamwork so they had to build the rest of the team around him)... IIRC he gave a kung fu kick once to a fan which is pretty cool (I know... unsportsmanlike.... but pretty cool, like Zidane's headbutt which was objectively awesome).

My favorite soccer team is easily Crystal Palace and I don't know the first thing about them (nor do I really want to) I just think it's a great name.

Only young ones.... I was told by a slovak that he won by votes of the old who fondly remember communism and they are driving young people out of the country (the same way Orban is driving young smart Hungarians out of Hungary).

How strong is this accent?

It sounds very odd like I never know what vowel is going to actually appear in a word but on the other hand, she's very easy for me to understand (which is often not the case with strong regional accents or even british tv).

I notice a lot of long i sounds becoming something like 'oi' (loif for life) and final syllabic l becoming 'oo' (peopoo for people). I've heard both of those before but didn't know they can go together?

On the other hand that might be because she's speaking about a pretty easy to understand topic.... if she and three other people were just casually discussing events in their lives I might get lost (I'm pretty sure of that....)

Personally I don't believe in "non-binary".... it's an idea that's three seconds old and mostly a coping mechanism and/or a cry for attention.

In the case of entertainers (never the most stable of people) it's just something to try to squeeze a bit more publicity.

The evidence would suggest that bambie thug is a heterosexual woman and nemo is most likely a young gay man. Nothing wrong with either option....

actually second, Croatia won the popular vote (3rd with juries but the margin was too big)

Switzerland was only 5th in televoting....

I think EBU wants to play it safe and have next year's contest in a safe place... and Switzerland fits that bill (if it wants to pay the bills for putting the shindig on....).

I've read many versions of what got the Dutch entry (which I really liked) kicked out, almost all related to Israel.... but the official statement from EBU just mentions a complaint by a female member of the production crew (presumably Swedish) after an "incident" after Thursday's semi final....

It is stressed that it had nothing to do with any other delgation.... (which is code for it wasn't about the Israeli performer).


Rumor has it Israel is/was behind a move to artificially inflate the vote (have no idea how or if it's even possible)

Still, probably large majorities in many countries aren't nearly as sympathetic to Hamas as misguided young people and/or paid protestors are.

No song got close to the reaction that Croatia did during the semis and they have a good position toward the end so... if the jury goes for it...

I'm not sure if the jury will want to go through the hassle of another Israeli show....

Italy (long a fave of mine) was a bit flat in the semi performance, she's a great singer and performer so she might figure out what the problem was and deal with it.
