. Ojciec ZAbil syna = The father beat his son [..so badly as to sustain life threatening injuries or even worse]

In this case even worse as that would mean father killed his son

Czy rozumial(a) pan(i)? = Did you understand? vs

Czy pan/i rozumie?

Life / Fast Food missing in Poland [47]

I always found it funny how people used their preference as some gospel. Someone likes Pizza Hut? Good for them. Someone else prefers some small local pizzeria? Great too.

Food / How is this herring product typically served? [74]

I'm actually writing to my sis to ask for the recipie I wanted to do it for ages now but never got around to asking (she was the one who was always making it at home). It is a bit of a pain though-to make sure no bones are left :/

(I took a glance at a couple of recipes and they use mayo or yoghurt instead of butter - a new 'healthy' fad I guess)

Different recipes probably. People always look to improve a bit don't they?
In my family we also add onion and eggs...

Life / All Things Christmassy in Poland [326]

Try to show your kid's straight As report

Don't know about the States but I didn't notice anyone in Poland having problem with that.

It is a bit different than competing against other kids though.

Food / Easter meal on a typical Polish table? [16]

carrot, peas, leek, egg, sweet corn, pickled cucumber. No potatoes.

Everything agrees besides the last part :P
Sorry, it looked to me as if she added potato.

it looks as if a rainbow exploded on them

That is my favourite part! It just looks so cheerful

Food / Easter meal on a typical Polish table? [16]

just standard Polish veg salad

Still called potato salad where I come from :)

With the cakes I can see sernik and babka and what I assume is murzynek?

Is that potatoes salad?

For me it was about cooked sausages and eggs with horse radish...yummy
I don't celebrate Easter anymore but I might be tempted to make that for myself

Food / Polish Salted Butter [68]

Personally I don't see a point in salted butter. When I bought it by mistake it annoyed me quite few times.

I also stopped using salt on eggs.

Guilty as charged. It just goes so well together....

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1428]

However, when I make myself sandwiches for school brunch/lunch, I use tomato without onion.

I never use tomato in take away sandwiches. It let's the juices out and losses texture.
I don't mind eating onion in the morning but right after that brush my teeth.

So I prefer kasha or various kinds of rice.

Actually one day when I was short on potatoes and didn't fancy going to the shop I decided to copy you and try some new combo. I must say I prefer it the standard way, with potatoes.

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

Stalin or tsars like Ivan the Terrible - no difference.

That is one. Plus it's funny to deny them their Russianism ( :) ) because we don't agree with their opinions.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [181]

I have to correct myself. The shooting in the legs was was a proposal but didn't come to life or anywhere close it seems.

They do however have to give a warning shot unless the situation is too dynamic

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [181]

You can't have it both ways

That is your opinion. As it is in Poland excessive force is a very real term and you can be charged for that either as a cop or civilian.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

home. But that dont happen in case of firearm permit, only fingerprints and records are checked.

That was exactly from a firearm case.

Nit to mention Niebieska Karta is Police document, no conviction needed.

Every neighborhood has it's dzielnicowy and his tasks is to know things, go around to have friendly chats with people etc
