News / Americans incite hatred towards Russia in Polish media [75]

they are total liars who would go so far as to cover up their involvement in the murder of almost 300 innocent European citizens.

Yet there are useful idiots out there who still praise them as a good example. One can only assume that they're such miserable failures that only Putin offers them any hope whatsoever in life.

History / Roman Dmowski-Patriot, Nationalist, Anti-Semite? [252]

Dmowski was after all a member of the Duma

Quite, which shows him to be a disgraceful collaborationist.

You are wrong and will be in violation of the new law.

You seem obsessed with this new law. Is it because you're so much of a coward that you can't wait to spend your days reporting imaginary crimes on the internet?

News / Poland in the European Union. Polexit? [559]

Europe and her nations are eternal."

Poland already learnt that lesson not to be so arrogant twice.

I am aware that for a country as big as Poland to leave the EU, would spell the end of this project

On the contrary. It would probably mean the core countries would decide that enough is enough and that there would be a choice given - either integrate or get out. Poland could well wake up and find that she's surrounded by EU countries who have accepted deeper integration, while also choosing to put severe trade barriers in place against economies who don't play ball.

I don't think you realise just how dependent Poland is on the EU. Poland isn't able to replace all the benefits easily, and the only other option on the table is the Serbian option - to have your economy increasingly come under the control of Russia and China. Do you seriously think that China especially is going to do anything good for Poland that doesn't benefit China first and foremost?

There's a reason why over 80% of voters consistently support EU membership. The alternative is just too frightening for them.

News / Israel opposing potential new Polish law to criminalise term 'Polish death camps' [1539]

Sure, then watch as the Germans then go after the Polish government for all the slanderous things they've been saying. Who loses? Poland! Yaay!

I think a false image was painted of the great friendship between Poland and Israel.

It was an absolutely false image. The only question is where Jonny Daniels is hiding, he hasn't exactly been afraid to open his mouth for the last few months, so where is our great friend now?

News / Poland in the European Union. Polexit? [559]

The average Polish salary when I was married in the 80s was 40 dollars a month.

And that was high - in places such as in Słubice on the DDR border, the average salary was as low as 25 dollars a month in 1990.

Ask any professional what he was offered at interview for a multi, and ask him what the Polish competitor offered him.

My friend just did it. 40% less for the exact same job, plus a strange contract with several provisions that were completely illegal and unenforceable.

That explains it , they supported it in their choice to move to and live in the murderous totalitarian regime, with no signs of denouncement.

Polonius did the same, you know.

Dodgy he moved to east germany, no one got into the commie block without having their nose up the right places I know

East Germany was actually open for West Germans, believe it or not. There was this guy - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_Biermann - and there were others. Merkel's father never questioned socialism, nor did he embrace it - you could say that he was very similar to many in the RCC during the PRL too.

Quite the opposite. She's the daughter of a church pastor, and her voting record is conservative (against abortion, for instance)

Israel itself has little to trade with

Hahaha. Israel has actually the 2nd largest tech industry in the world. Again, shows how little you know about Israel.

and they know America will one day go bankrupt

I suppose we can add "anti-American" to the list of thing you are.

Israel is an international pariah.

Quite the opposite, it's very popular among Polish tourists these days.

Israel is a rabidly racist ethno-theocratic monoculture

Obviously, you've never been there, otherwise you wouldn't make such statements.

It will be a pleasure to see your Holocaust denying self in court. I'm sure I can find several witnesses living in Poland that will attest to it, while you'll be left begging people on PF to come to Poland to testify on your behalf that you did no such thing.

Mind you, you'll need your parents permission before you can take anyone to court.

It's a preservation of evidence which I'm sure Poland's Prokurator Generalny would be most interested in once this law is enacted.

Indeed. I'm sure it will make fascinating evidence in a Polish courtroom when Jewish citizens of Poland demand your prosecution for your repeated Holocaust denials. Having read the law in Polish, it's clear that it can be used to punish people like yourself, such is the vagueness and badly written nature of the law. With Poland's PM being advised by a Jewish advisor who takes a strong stand against the ONR and so on, it's obvious that Canadian citizens such as yourself have nowhere to hide.

And now just as if out of nowhere you have the "official" Israel saying something to the contrary.

I'm really trying to figure it out, and I can't. If the issue was that the law is badly written and can be used to whitewash Polish history - then it's still not a problem, because there's no way that Israel is deporting anyone to Poland based on breaking this law.

Maybe there's some sort of Israeli-Polish agreement that was made behind closed doors, and this is seen as breaking it?

He's gone from a complete nobody in Poland, to suddenly, in a short space of time, being all over the Polish media and constantly with or around PiS politicians.

It's just very very strange. PiS gave some ridiculous amount of money for some Jewish graveyard in Warsaw, and even Rydzyk is now suddenly pro-Israel. The only thing I can think of is that he's acting as some sort of go-between with America while masquerading as an "Israeli" (he's clearly not, he's a Brit), and that he's acting as a sort of ambassador for American interests. Either way, it's rotten and I don't like it - probably for the only time in my life, I agree with Polish nationalists that there's something very wrong with this situation.

Of course the difference between me and you on this, is that you would love for the right to split and many PiS supporter to turn on them.

Of course, but at the same time, I don't want Jonny Daniels around any government in Poland regardless of their political stance. If PiS start forming policy according to Israel, then...what can we say? I don't hate Israel as a country, but I don't want to be involved with their games.

I still can't work out why Israel is so hysterical about this thing. I read some more after you posted, and they really are angry, even to the point where some idiot has said that Polish death camps did exist in WW2.

Would be beautiful

For who? Poland can't afford to replace their jobs with domestic ones, which is why unemployment was at 20% in the early 2000's.

I suppose it will be beautiful for you, given that the pound will finally be worth something against the złoty and you'll be able to impress the villagers back home.

How about all these corporations moving out of Poland because you've lost easy access to the EU?

Not only that, but many of the corporations in the service industry rely on freedom of movement of labour. If Poland leaves the EU, they will relocate straight away to somewhere that will continue to offer the same possibility of relocating workers.

But let's not forget that the posters calling for Polexit won't have to live with the consequences of such an action.

Yes, am familiar - not a fan.

There's a lot of people questioning his role in Poland, and I've seen a lot of comments saying that he's almost certainly a Mossad agent. The way that he rose out of absolutely nowhere to advise senior Israeli politicians, and now that he's constantly at the side of Morawiecki... it's just strange. I don't blame you for not being a fan of his, I also don't like him and I want to know what he's really doing here.

If, as you say, PiS drop this new law in the face of Israeli opposition, then hard questions need to be asked.

It's been brought up repeatedly in Polish debate that the pro-lifers are remarkably unwilling to contribute financially to such institutions.

News / If Russia liberate Scotland, what would happen with Polish workers in Britain? [60]

I suppose the general lack of nationalism among the population as a whole have something to do with that

Yes, I think it's widely accepted among SNP supporters these days that the name of the party is an unfortunate historical coincidence - they want political independence, but without any of the nastiness found elsewhere. I know a couple of English people who voted for independence, simply because of the huge efforts made by the SNP to act as an inclusive party regardless of ethnicity or nationality. Of course, there's a few bad eggs on both sides, but they get condemned and dealt with quickly. I suppose the British concept of civic nationalism is pretty much unheard of in mainland Europe outside of a few examples like the Flemish parties.

A friend of mine learnt some Polish to be able to explain the benefits of independence to Polish voters, and he said that one issue was the Polish name of the party - Polish voters that were uneducated about Scottish politics thought that they were like the BNP and other clowns.

So, to answer the original question, in the event of Russia 'liberating' Scotland, Polish workers would likely find themselves in deep trouble. Russian nationalism is completely incompatible with what the Poles are used to in the UK.

News / If Russia liberate Scotland, what would happen with Polish workers in Britain? [60]

One contrast between the civilised bits of Europe and Serbia - Scotland held a legal referendum, with free and fair elections and a very high turnout, with the wording of the ballot agreed by the SNP.

Yup, absolutely no arguing here about the referendum. Polling stations stayed open until the last person voted, unlike in Bosnia when Serbs in some localities physically prevented locals from voting in the Bosnian independence referendum.

A shame (and yes, I do mean shame) that Serbia did this in Bosnia.

In fairness Jon, I understand partially why they acted in that way. They suffered terribly in WW2 at the hands of Croats and some Muslims, and many of them were driven by absolute fear that the same would happen again - because the Serbian TV was pumping out non-stop propaganda in the worst possible way. But of course, many of them were just common thugs, especially in the occupied suburbs of Sarajevo and others that came from Serbia proper.
