Is Polish church involved in politics too much? [137]
Yes, it still is. Much worse is they don`t draw any conclusions.
In another thread I mentioned rightist PiS candidate, Nawrocki,. who visited the monastery of Jasna Góra in Częstochowa where he joined the rally and prayer of radical football fans who had come with their annual pilgrimage there. Fans screamed hateful slogans while Nawrocki smiled.
Nawrocki, when asked by journalists why he didn`t react, ignored the question.
The event caused a little commotion on the net. Even rightist or catholic commenters are against. Check their opinions.
PiS MEP Tobiasz Bocheński assessed that the clergy should react to the hateful shouting. - This is already a matter of the clergy's reaction and this has a different dimension, because Christianity and the teachings of the Church have a different dimension than purely political and ideological disputes - he said.
Presidential Minister Andrzej Dera opposes shouting such slogans at Jasna Góra. - There should be no place for such shouting in a place like Jasna Góra. End. And I have no doubts about that - said Dera.
Dominican Father Paweł Gużyński assessed that the cheers of the fans at Jasna Góra are "confirmation of the thesis that the Pauline Fathers from Jasna Góra are constantly deceiving us, because this is not the first political story that has happened there". He added that the Pauline Fathers are responsible for this place and "do not draw conclusions".
- After so many bad experiences, they should know that allowing this type of person into Jasna Góra will always end the same way. Unfortunately, this is a purely political activity that has nothing to do with the Church and Catholicism, with faith, with Christianity - said the priest.
