News / Abortion still under control in Poland - part 2 [383]

.a bs feminazis used to justify 60 million abortions

In post #181 you said:

If the woman doesn't want to keep the baby, that does not give her the right to kill it. If she is too poor, we will take the infant and offer it for adoption...

You are suggesting that women who become pregnant following rape should carry the baby to term and have it adopted.
Therefore, it follows that should the worst happen to one of your granddaughters, this is your stance on the matter. It is not me baiting you, it's a perfectly reasonable assumption to make given what you said.. Pregnancy after rape might not be that common but it still happens and is a legitimate reason for an abortion, it's not some bullsh!t to justify it.

1. Rape.
2. 911
3. Police

Rape is not always reported straight away and often goes unreported. Your ideal response is not going to prevent conception.

BTW, if you think flushing the sperm out in a hospital will prevent pregnancy, you are sadly mistaken.

Best hope that neither one of your granddaughters is unfortunate enough to get raped and end up pregnant. Good to know that you would insist on her carrying her rapist's baby to term after surviving the trauma of rape. Clearly, her mental state wouldn't even be considered.

That applies to all the other PF members with wives, daughters, sisters, who strongly oppose abortion. I'd like to know how many of you would insist on their female loved ones carrying a rapist's baby to term. I can foresee broken marriages and permanently fractured relationships.

Food / Where would you take foreign guests for Polish food dinner in Krakow? [15]

You'd be better off serving them food they are familiar with.

They'd be better off staying in their own country then. Nothing worse than tourists who complain about the local food or aren't prepared to even try it.

tatar or flaki

I wouldn't choose to eat either of those dishes but there's plenty of other Polish dishes to try.

Food / Poland-Tea or coffee land? [165]

do you know which parts of Poland they come from?

Scattered about. A couple from south-eastern Poland, Czarna Górna, Ustrzyki Dolne, others from Warsaw, Wrocław, Grudziądz, Raba Wyżna, Nowy Targ.

"Tea is one of Poland's most popular drinks - 98% of Poles declare drinking it on regular basis.

I'm quite shocked by that. Maybe when they came to the UK they decided they didn't like the tea here ;)

typical English black tea is much different to what is considered regular tea by Polish people -

I'm guessing it's much stronger.

Food / Poland-Tea or coffee land? [165]

it tastes like weak tea mixed with weak coffee..... brrrrrrrr

That doesn't inspire me to try it......

Regular tea (black tea being the most popular in Poland) is used as ordinary, everyday drink that Poles consume during meals and when they're simply thirsty

I can only speak for the Poles I know over here and not one of them has ever drank black tea when I've been around. Only coffee, Inka and those 'fruit' teas which I don't consider to be tea at all.

accompanied by a Polish donut or a cake of your choosing,

I wouldn't wear them but have to admit they're very cute :):)

Food / Poland-Tea or coffee land? [165]

Brits (like russians and Turks) seem to use tea more for its stimulant properties (

I wouldn't have said that. There's more caffeine in coffee than tea.

tea is for health maintenance and/or home remedies.

Poles don't appear to like strong tasting tea which is why I think they tend to go for herbal/fruit teas. More about taste than home remedies in my opinion. I think they would probably like Earl Grey tea.

I know a lot of Poles that drink Inka, which I think is some kind of coffee substitute? From PRL times?

Over here, tea is considered to be the national drink and personally, I like a strong cup of tea. Builder's tea.

Polish style tea" earrings :

Lol.

Food / Poland-Tea or coffee land? [165]

Most Poles I know are coffee drinkers and the ones I do know that drink tea always drink those awful fruit flavoured teas that to me taste like a cup of hot squash.

after tea, I need power tools to clean that cup to be white again

Higher tannin content.

citric acid

I bring it home from work to clean the kettle with. Great stuff.

That sounds a bit like Cacio e Pepe but that has Pecorino Romano cheese and no garlic. It's comfort food for me.

When I saw the filling I figured it could make a confusing riddle :)))

It did look a lot like cooked veg, onions, carrots etc. It was a good riddle!

I've got to admit it's a bit addictive for some reason

If I see it I'll buy a bar to try. There's been a lot of hype about it, mainly because of the price.

dark chocolate with tiny bits of the pistachio pastry in and tiny bits of Turkish delight in.

That sounds good, I love Turkish delight!

I haven't tried it but is it that Dubai chocolate that's become really popular? Think the filling includes some kind of pastry and pistachios?

Bigos that's been reheated for too long in a hot oven?

The middle bit definitely looks like some sort of filling.

Szklarska Poręba has a traditional semi-precious stone industry. A nice place to visit too.

I've not been but I've seen lots of photos of the area from someone who used to live there. Very scenic.

if they don't have tours in English that's a pretty big mistake, imho.

I would say so given that it's so widely spoken but then Szklary is a bit off the beaten track. The sort of place that geologists are more likely to know about than the public generally.

The photos in the gallery from the first link are great.

What is this?:

When I first looked at it I thought it was some vegetarian food but looking at it closely I think the dark piece in the top left hand corner is some chocolate? Or I could be going in the wrong direction.....

Travel / Transport adventures in Poland [103]

If Europe went to completely net zero it would have almost no effect at the global level....

I know, the whole thing is ridiculous.

they use so much marine fuel importing hydrocarbons from the global south rather than maxing out out own North Sea reserves while we can and providing jobs for workers and tax revenue.

I think Starmer and Miliband have blocked granting new licences for drilling in the North Sea. They haven't revoked old ones but Miliband is pushing the green agenda big style and there was also a problem with the supreme court blocking drilling in the North Sea.

theguardian.com/environment/2025/jun/19/uk-ministers-to-restart-approval-process-for-two-north-sea-oilfields

What infuriates me just as much is the lack of gas storage capacity here. It leaves the UK vulnerable and dependent on imports. I'll leave it here though as I'm getting way off-topic.

Travel / Transport adventures in Poland [103]

I hate driving,

I do too but the public transport over here is absolutely shocking. Don't even bother trying to catch a train on weekends, it will be cancelled/diverted. It took me 9 hours to get home a while ago as the train at the start of my trip was cancelled. That was actually on a week day. The knock-on effect had me diverted to various parts of the country. Buses are no better. I rarely use them but tried to get to my work conference on one last week. Stood for an hour at the bus stop and it didn't turn up. Had to get a taxi in the end as there was no parking at the venue or anywhere near.

For a government pushing net zero they seriously need to think about the public transport situation. No-one is going to give up driving over here with such a poor public transport system.

From my experiences in Poland, public transport is way better than over here and I've used trains, buses and trams. Frequent and on time. Never had a problem. As Alien pointed out, in a large city it may well be possible to do without a car, especially for those who are single or who don't have children, but in rural areas, not so easy. For families, life is just that much easier with a car.

First time I've driven a long distance in Poland and not thought I was going to end up in a ditch or a wreck.

You're braver than me. I wouldn't even consider driving in Poland....but good that driving appears to have improved.

Off-Topic / USA News and Poland - part 16 [1071]

Do you like to be called British or English?

I think most people would say English. These days British refers more to nationality. If someone asked where I was from I would either say England or the UK.

Law / Gun control in Poland: should Polish people be allowed to own guns? [1070]

comparison of homicide rate in the US and Europe from 2000 to 2022

Shows exactly why Poland doesn't need guns. Poland in particular has a lower murder and crime rate when compared with the rest of Europe and is a very safe country.

Why Americans persist in their thinking that Poland would be better off armed is beyond me. Especially given the endless mass shootings that have become a normality in the US.

especially those with a hyphen...

As you're a grammar bore......

Hyphenated
Non-hyphenated
The irony.......
