Travel / How welcoming is Poland for an American visitor? And great places to visit. [54]

he said we are gullible, and easily manipulated

What can I say, if the shoe fits…….. and so it does, in his the OP case at least.

its funny how general that statement was

Sarcasm is not your forte I see, it’s simply lost on your people. My statement is simply taken as a proof of big bad world in which everyone hates America. Go figure.

I want to be his friend. you like to tree hug?? I like to tree hug.

I’m not looking for new friends, not much into tree hugging either.

You say, you've heard that most of the world hates us. Watching your posts, something tells me that you're definitely one of that "most of the world".

See what I mean about sarcasm?

Americans in general are open and welcoming decent people. This is a nation of immigrants it always has been. Only people here who dislike foreigners are ones who have nothing and see them as a threat (ex. white trash)

I’ve never claimed otherwise just stated how naïve you seem to be, having unsubstantiated rumors scare you away from life’s simple pleasures. Are you suggesting his circle of friends and acquaintances are nothing but white trash? I seriously doubt it.

Americans are so gullible as a people, (“many people say….” Most likely ignorant Yanks as yourself) no wonder you as a people are so easily steered and manipulated by those who are tad brighter than yourself, most often than not, not in the right direction either, you prefer rumors to the truth. Looking up something on their own or drawing their own conclusion from what they’ve just read is just way too hard for them. What can I say; when you’re right, you’re right Lewandowski, I despise lazy and ignorant people. “I’ve heard……” indeed. Most of you don’t traval anyway and thouse who are brave enough to venture outside should remain put, most of the world hates Yanks or so I’ve heard.

Language / Why is the Polish language so difficult? [309]

Polish though is still way more close in its spelling to pronunciation, phoneme to grapheme, as compared with English which is utter chaos!

Less to worry about when learning the language, yet some on this very forum insist on reforming Polish spelling because they have trouble with “u” and “ó” etc. I guess it comes from ignorance as to where the root of any given word lies. It would be wrong of me to propose the same reforms in English language just to make it easier for me as a foreigner to spell. Love it or hate it but if you have the need to learn any language then by all means learn it. In the end all the hard work you put in it over the years is its own reward.

Actually, the "harder" the language, the more speakers of that language could protect themselves from foreign absorption

Actually, I would say the more alien the concept to the learner……….

if there is such a thing as The Guiness Book of The World's Hardest Language, Polish would lose handily to Navajo, a language SOOOooooo tough, even the best code crackers during WWII were stymied!

They were simply stumped because there were only a few speakers of that particular language, besides the code crackers looked at what was the standard ways of decoding the massages at the time. They had no idea that in reality it was a real language they were dealing with but given enough time I’m sure they would most likely figure it out eventually so the legend grew. Even today most sophisticated computer programs have trouble with translations but that’s the beauty of it all. No such thing as one language being harder than any other once you have the understanding of how the grammar works.

In my opinion it all boils down to the understanding and ease of pronunciation for each individual learner who has his own pace of learning to achieve the degree of fluency he needs. Besides what is fluency anyway? If I’m fluent in street talk I’ll be considered as an uneducated moron by some academic but to my street buddies I’ll be a fvcken Genius even if the academic and I spoke only one and often enough the very same language. We all set the bar only as high as our social circles require of us making this whole argument pointless in the process.

Language / Why is the Polish language so difficult? [309]

Polish + zen is how to approach it.

Good philosophy.

Oni jestą -> They are

Are you sure?

I would love to learn Polish, but…………

What’s stopping you? Dla chcącego nic trudnego.

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland?

Because only Jewish ladies prefer everything half off ;) so do the math :)

Is USA becoming a backwards country too ???

If you can convince a majority of letting someone anywhere near your private parts with a sharp instrument and damage you for life takes a lot of thrust on their part, not brains so I guess the short answer is Yes, in other words they do what they are told no matter how ridicules the excuse, though some are starting to think for themselves now. I hope they keep up this trend.

UK, Ireland / Polish and East European prostitutes in the UK [240]

That's just not true. They like their bodies and sometimes flaunt them but that's a far cry from prostitution.

You mean like young American socialites, rich heiresses, starlets, singers and Hollywood celebrities who advertise their assets by either flashing their beavers in public or making sex tapes?

Rebirth is just scared shitless after reading some of those statistics, his allowance already suffers as his mother can’t make a decent living in her profession anymore. He’s also afraid for his fat little sister, how can she land herself some toothless hillbilly with a trailer when he’s more likely to watch Kim Kardashian's or Paris Hilton's sex tape on the internet? She got no chance and his allowance will suffer even more. Now throw in a much more appealing foreign competition into this equation and it’s the end of the world as he knows it, no wonder this dude is pissed.

Right, I guess you consider American girls like Hayden Panettiere ugly?

As a matter of fact she’s my type but there’s always an exception to the general rule. For the most part, the rest had one too many burgers.

Slavic immigrants make up the highest percentage of prostitutes and strippers in Germany. What is the reason for this?

German and other western perverts who exploit the women from poorer countries more often than not, not of their own free will.

I've met quite a few girls from Slavic countries here in America and they were mostly sluts.

Have you now, I suppose the way the American women carry themselves don't bother you as much anymore as it seems to be the norm therefor you only see it in others. Perhaps it's just the company you keep.

EDIT: I forgot to say eastern Europeans in general. Romanian girls and Hungarian girls also have this problem.

EDIT: Perhaps it's just your imagination.

Slavic and eastern European women in general make up the highest percentage of pûrnstars in the European pûrn industry. Most of them are Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Hungarian, and Czech.

For a fvcking Yank you seem to know a lot about European red light districts and pûrn industry in general. Seems like you're watching blue movies a lot, you even know where your favorite stars come from, what's the matter American flicks don't turn you on anymore? There's the answer to all your questions, it's because of people like you, you see no clients no problem.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Be it as it may, I can tell you who's the Ugliest woman in America though.
Wasn't there a poll at the end of last summer officially ranking American women the second ugliest women in the world? I must admit, after seeing the picture of American socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein I have to strongly disagree, that has to be the bottom of the cesspool. She spent £2million on cosmetic surgery and I can't see improvement, one can only imagine what she must have look like before. :)))))

History / So called "inconvenient parts" of Polish history - what do you think? [158]

This transfer (as you call it) was supposed to be carried out in a civil manner. In reality, over half a million people were killed in the process. Ever wondered why there is an Erika Steinbach?

Do you? Erika was born in Poland during the war years but only because her parents were settled there by the Nazis who expelled the Poles, her mother was there just long enough to give birth, her father a bit longer as he was in Luftwaffe. Do you know what happen to the Polish family that were the owners of the apartment they occupied? Well they themselves were forcibly removed as to what happened to them after that no one knows. Cry me a river. Speaking of civil, do you know how civil the Germans were when they were expelling Poles during the occupation? In a span of 5 months just after the Warsaw uprising some 650,000 inhabitants of that city alone were forcibly removed, some died some were sent to concentration camps most were sent to forced labor camps deep inside Germany proper. Compared to the way they treated us their treatment was lenient, some were moving out of their own free will as their army was being pushed back further and further west by the red army in fear of reprisals and for a good reason I might add, rest were simply given marching orders where they could pack up their sh1t and were told to get the fvck out but at least they were free, no extended holiday in some labor camp or concentration camp where a friendly travel agent in German uniform was ready to great them and show just how hospitable the German people can be. Was the road back a bit bumpy? Perhaps they shouldn’t have try to improve the road conditions in Poland through the use of bombs.

History / So called "inconvenient parts" of Polish history - what do you think? [158]

Interesting that you don't use his full name. Would that be because you also know that Czesław is not a Jewish name and don't want people to notice that? He was a Polish Catholic (see here for details).

Interesting, Michael de Nostredame not very Jewish sounding name either but none the less.

History / So called "inconvenient parts" of Polish history - what do you think? [158]

Czesław Gęborski was every bit as bad as Morel but Poland just let him go. I wonder why.

Gęborski was a Jew so I also ask the same, Why did they? Surname perhaps that does not sound Jewish?

So your view is that none of the 100,000+ Poles who were captured by the western allies while fighting for Poland were SS? That's highly likely, isn't it?

Simple Harry, unlike the Brits who had their (BFC) and others of course there was no such thing as Polish Free Corps but there were some Jewish SS units. :) if it makes you feel better.

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4500]

Koztoski is misspelled, should have been "Kozłoski" or "Kozłowski". You have a "T" there instead of Polish "£", big difference. Both are formed from a root word "Kozioł" which stands for goat in Polish. "Kozłoski" is rare you'll find it mostly around "Radom" region today but "Kozłowski" is common could be anywhere in Poland.

Hudonka is new to me, originally probably "Hudon" or "Hudoń" in which case the meaning of both would have been skinny. Must have been a woman who had this surname hence ending in -ka as that's the way she would have been called but her surname would have still been "Hudon" or "Hudoń" in written form. Sounds like somewhere in eastern Poland or today's Ukraine.

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [538]

He’s doing his best of actually keeping the promise of Poland being like Ireland. If it wasn’t for all those unruly Poles seeking their own fortunes elsewhere he might have even reach that goal way ahead of Ireland. Who would have thought the man has the gift of Nostradamus.

This reminds me of the joke all of you probably heard already.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

That's my project for this summer.

Good hunting.

Jagody too.

You’ll find it a hard work as they grow very low to the ground unlike the American verity that grow on bushes that are as tall as gooseberry bushes but much more tastier. The wild raspberries and blackberries are excellent too, so if they grow in your parts and you have a chance to go, don’t miss it.

He also knows where to find plenty of kania mushrooms

Those are plentiful, don’t really have to have a special spot, they are tasty and being outdoors all day does wonders for your taste buds.

I think it began because of the revoulting smell in the kitchen when my mum fried mushrooms.

What? You find that the olfactory system doesn’t work as good in your old age or was it the variety that was common in Britain that did not have a particularly pleasant aroma or is it simply you’re not as picky anymore? There’s nothing like a taste of home grown tomatoes. As I recall your GF has a dacha outside of Moscow you’ll do plenty of mushroom hunting there as the Russians love their mushrooms too. If you have not done a lot of mushroom picking in Poland I suspect you'll do a lot of it there.

And the red- brownish one in the second photo?

Let's just wait and see how many people really go mushroom picking. Nice specimens by the way, when I was a kid gołąbki z blachy with a pinch of salt were a real treat. Did you teach your kids about mushrooms or did you leave that job for grandpa?

Do you really know them? Which of them can you see in the photos above?

Is this a test? Did you pick them yourself? Zrobiłeś zdjęcie sąsiadowi? W podkarpackim mamy do wyboru, od małego chodziłem na grzyby z dziadkiem.

I was referring to the "magic mushrooms" not those "nice ones" you've mentioned.

I know hence the wink.

Though I won't eat wild mushooms even in Poland unless they're picked by people who know what they're doing.

Go out more often and in no time you’ll be an expert too.

I know this may sound silly but I was always wondering if there are any shrooms growing in Polish woods that you know off?

Depends on the types you are looking for;). I usually pick (kozaki, prawdziwki, podgrzybki, gąski, maślaki, gołąbki, kanie, opieńki, rydze, kurki.) now there are other types too but they are more rare like gronówki.

if Russia liberate Scotland, what would happen with Polish workers in Britain?

Seriously Crow, I imagine it would be like a scene from Braveheart, Poles and Scots lifting their kilts up showing their backside to the Russians while bagpipes are playing Mazurek Dabrowskiego somewhere in the background.

They already practice it just for this occasion, Russian liberation indeed, we all know what that means.

Travel / Why most taxis in Warsaw cheat foreigners to get more money? [38]

I wanted to take another time, the taxi driver told me it's on the other side of the street! Not even 30 seconds to walk! LOL!

The fact that the taxi driver told you it’s just across the street instead of taking you for a ride proves otherwise. How would you know they drive you “around and around” when you didn’t even know that the address you were looking for was directly across the street from you? Besides after this comment do you still wonder why you are being taken advantage of? As they say there’s one born every minute, You are confused all right.

USA, Canada / Polish women are not to be trusted! They are out to get American men just for money. [62]

She just needs to change her strategy; I suggest showing more cleavage and leg to be more competitive on that market. I think she needs to advertise her assets a bit more to have an advantage over the competition; negative campaign on some forum won’t get her any dates. Of course if her leg is the size of an elephant this won’t work either but then she can always find comfort in food, true reason why you find MD’s every couple of blocks in the US. Cheaper than a shrink I suppose.
