History / Poles in the Crusades to the Holy Land [75]

I do know that the early ancestors of the Polish Dabrowa clan fought in The holy land.

When this early ancestor of the Clan Dabrowa distinguished himself by his courage at Jerusalem, Godfrey de Bouillon, was King of Jerusalem. This gallant foreign knight had bestowed on him, via Godfrey Bouillon, a new coat of arms. The coat of arms was a rendition of Calvary Hill (Golgotha). Golgotha was the hill upon which Our Lord Jesus Christ's was crucified with two thieves. The new arms would bear three crosses patée, in the center; and one cross patée fitched on each side of the middle cross. These crosses were called "Dabrowa," in Polish.

After this knight returned from Palestine, he took the same path through Poland. He was fond of the scenery so he settled in Poland and his descendants still exist there today

But i don't know about any book...

One of my relatives actually build a house for them and a house for their parents where their son also lives with his girlfriend.

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

"I'm really glad that Poland HASN'T GOT (or: DOESN'T HAVE!!) SUCH AN uncultured language AS Swedish."

David,

Couldnt care less about my grammar...

I simply had to correct some of your English-:)) On what are you basing this assertion? On the sound of Swedish? In fact, many feel (myself included) that Swedish, along with Estonian and Italian, is one of the most euphonious languages in the world.

Because of its simplicity. Those "many" are mostly the sweds themselfs i guess ;)

Im really glad that Poland don't got a so uncultured language like swedish!

You know language says aloot about a country. I guess the sweds never really needed to talk or express themselfs that much in those cold woods in the 14-18th centuries.

It seems that the, formerly convicted, British Holocaust denier David Irving is starting to run tours to former nazi concentration camps and other sites in Poland.

Gosh let the man be. Let every human being in the world believe in whatever they want too.

Or maybe we can throw out the 36 milj poles who believes in God?

History / Polish civilization is older than English or French. Why do Poland follow them? [64]

Are Poles biggest gentlemans of this Europe and respect every wish of others?

Let us just get our economy equal to the ones in Germany and France etc etc..

And then you will see the poles rise again ;)

Right now we don't want to risk to much, since we just had 55 years of communism.

History / Polish history is 100% glorious [297]

Still wrong :) The word is whiner.

W/e!!!!!!

myth A: the Jews were commies, a myth that apparently still lives today, remarkably;

Many jews were commies. So were many poles, russians, germans etc etc...

myth B: the blood libel (where the hell did this nonsense come from?);

Well it didn't come from Poland, and i've never heard that stuff in Poland.

It actually started in England ;)

Jews of Norwich were accused of ritual murder after a boy, William of Norwich, was found dead with stab wounds. The legend was turned into a cult, with William acquiring the status of martyr and crowds of pilgrims bringing wealth to the local church. In 1189, the Jewish deputation attending the coronation of Richard the Lionheart was attacked by the crowd. Massacres of Jews at London and York soon followed. On Feb 6 1190, all the Norwich Jews were found slaughtered in their houses, except a few who found refuge in the castle. Jews would later be expelled from all of England in 1290 and not allowed to return until 1655. In 1171, Blois was the site of a blood libel accusation against its Jewish community that led to 31 Jews (by some accounts 40) being burned to death.

So blame the brits ;)

myth D: Jews welcomed the Soviets (especially a popular myth in Eastern Poland - only partly true but represented as whole nations of Jews were welcoming the Russian troops)

i guess the communist jews did that? Would't you welcome a commie if you yourself were one?

Many Jews joined the Polish army and fought bravely,

The communist propaganda about the blood sucking Polish Szlachta that beat their serfs to death and the antisemitic poles kinda worked well it seems :)

myth E: the most remarkable myth of all: Jews helped round up Poles for the slaughter.

Common give me a break...

There's nothing wrong of being proud of one's history, but this shouldn't lead a person to be completely blind for the not so beautiful epoches.

Yes indeed. But stop lie to yourself for a minute ok?

In the other thread i cryed abit about brits, what kinda response did i get? HAHA you arrogant people are hilarious telling people not to get offended, but YOU guys are the worst whainers i've ever seen on this planet!!!

Life / Are Poles typically nasty people? [42]

But I am a Pole (confusion).

I don't care if you got a typical "slav" personality. Your parents lied to you... You are an ukrainian, but your parents told you that they were poles so you could feel a little bit proud of your heritage...

Ofc you can't relate to white americans when you think like black people do ;)

Life / Are Poles typically nasty people? [42]

I think most of the people on here are pretty nasty or at least neutral and I'm suprised because I've heard they are so nice

We are just nasty to people like you.

Is it because they live in such a crappy country or is it just a genetic personality trait?

Could be the genes... For hundreds of years we learned to look down on people, we are a master race you know. We just had some bad luck the past 100 years ;)

History / Polish history is 100% glorious [297]

It's an easy excuse, which is used way too often on this forum. When will they stop using the commies as an excuse and take up responsibility for their own deeds? I guess it's typical Polish to do so. Poland is not the only country to be occupied by the commies, but I've so far never heard of any post WW2 pogroms against Jews other than in Poland and Russia.

Maybe you should stop being so ignorant?

Lets check some Pre WW2 pogroms MR ignorant ;)

There was a Pogrom, in Ireland in the late nineteenth century.

Census returns record one Jew in Limerick in 1861. This doubled by 1871 and doubled again by 1881. Increases to 35, 90 and 130 are shown for 1888, 1892, and 1896 respectively. Having fled from persecution in Lithuania, a small number of Jewish tradespeople began arriving in Limerick in 1878. They initially formed an accepted part of the city's retail trade, centred on Collooney St. The community established a synagogue and a cemetery in the 1880s. Easter Sunday of 1884 saw the first of what were to be a series of sporadic violent antisemitic attacks and protests. The wife of Lieb Siev and his child were injured by stones and her house damaged by an angry crowd. In 1892 two families were beaten and a stoning took place on November 24, 1896. Many details about Limerick's Jewish families are recorded in the 1901 census that shows most were peddlers, though a few were described as drapery dealers and grocers.

Some more cases OUTSIDE Russia and Poland

In 1945, anti-Jewish rioters in Tripoli, Libya killed 140 Jews.

In 1927, there were pogroms in Oradea (Romania).

In the Americas, there was a pogrom in Argentina in 1919, during the Tragic Week

On 1–2 June 1941, the Farhud pogrom in Iraq killed between 200 and 400 Jews.

Massacres of Jews at London and York in 1189–1190.

Mobs in Fez murdered thousands of Jews, leaving only 11 alive, in 1465

During the World War II Vichy regime which had collaborated with the Gestapo to detain Jews, as for example in the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup of 16–17 July 1942.

I can go on forever with this...

You will find people with a flat head everywhere in Europe. you find more of them to the south then to the north because scandinavia and great britain was more isolated and didn't mix so much like they did in the european continent.
