History / Heritage of partitions still present in Poland [107]

LOTOS. But they haven`t got tsar portrait in it because its decor resembles the 1970s communist times

A classic restaurant, still good, still there. The cheaper one round the corner (with the same kitchen) is pretty good too.

News / There is no Poland without the Church! [178]

Well, its important religious center to be within country, not outside

Why?

Outside center always tend to impose kind of globalistic thinking on believers

What's wrong with that?

deny local specifics.

Not generally in the RCC, which has a concept called 'the local church', all about regional differences.

In that case any debate

Crimes against children are not a matter of debate.

The church is not above the law.

Even the Pope recognises that now; sadly in some places, clergy have been used to feeling as if they're above the law. This damages the Church too, as well as countless lives.

must be national.

Why?

Nah, only of a crime or an alleged crime is under investigation.

Rubbish. Any document alleging serious crimes against children is evidence. Any 'priest' who thinks such a document is not evidence must be naive, stupid or evil. Or all three.

Yes. I agree but that is not what you posted before.

Or any crime. If a document refers to a crime that has happened, whether it's yet to be investigated or whether it's been investigated before and closed. Evidence is evidence.

Good to know. There is no need for some special anti-Church

No 'anti-church' legislation is needed. Simply make sure the 'church' follow the law like any other organisation, ensure safeguarding procedures, disclse any evidence about or records of crimes against children, and not attempt to intervene when senior 'clergy' are prosecuted as accessories for not reporting crimes that they are aware of and all will be well.

It doesn't contain any evidence if somebody write something in a letter.

Letters (and emails, texts, online messages etc) are all evidence if they relate to an alleged crime under investigation.

Let them investigate all they want.

The police and prosecutors do investigate. Where there are perceived failings (like an undue respect for the RCC) there are always civil courts (where the burden of proof is far lower).

Why would letters or whatnot addressed to somebody else given forcibly to the government.

If they contain evidence of a crime, they should go to prosecutors or the police.

the blue you demand more power to be handed over to the gov.

Governments already have the 'power' (and the right, duty and obligation) to investigate crime. Concealing evidence (like a letter) relating to a crime is already illegal.

News / Should Polonia and expat Poles lose voting rights in Polish elections? [85]

If someone's left for good (or for a few decades as cms neuf says) then they should lose the vote. If someone has citizenship by descent and has never lived there except perhaps for short periods they shouldn't vote either; their vote is more about their 'real ' country rather than the one their family has origins in.

As Pawian says, it's making a country a hostage to its past. Fortunately, Polish expat votes are counted in Warsaw. Unfortunately Polonia (especially Americans) tend to vote in a different way to Warsaw residents.

News / Poles march against Mandatory poisoning by vaccines [202]

than a person who is vaccinated has no reason to worry about catching a disease from an unvaccinated person. It's that simple.

Depends if they're a. vaccinated against that disease and b. in good health. It's that simple.

Vaccination is one of the single greatest medical advances in human history; anti-vaxxers are dangerous cranks.

ebola...scabies

There is no vaccination against ebola, nor is there an issue with migration. Nor is there a vaccine for scabies, which is rife in Poland.

Turned away because they were going to do something illegal. Those bastards

And now it's perfectly legal. Much better...

Deported due to not having a valid reason to be there. Those bastards

And now people can make the short journey back and forth at will. Much better...

No.you.would.not have an automatic right before EU accession. You would need work permit, invitation, marketable skills and

This is correct. I needed a hell of a lot of paperwork in Poland before EU accession, and pre-2004 I once did some Polish/English interpretation at the port in Dover; plenty of people were turned away when it was clear they were intending to work illegally in the UK. I also have friends who were deported from the UK to Poland due to not having a valid freason to be there.

History / Polish attitudes towards ex-Soviet republics joining NATO [116]

Ouch! Don't tell any Ukrainians this. The outgoing president, Petro Poroshenko, had been promising NATO and EU membership

He genuinely wanted it, however it was only an illusion. Russia would regard it as an act of agression unfortunately.

Similar things can happen in the not so distant future. We live in an interesting world.

There will be bad things and good things. Evil things too.

And who are you to say that was a waste of time?

I remember the TV interview on the Referendum Sunday back in 2003. They interviewed Jan Nowak-Jeziorański outside church (at a point where people were worryingthat the turnout was low). He said that during all those dark years he could never have dreamed that one day Poland would have this chance. After the interview, there was a rush to the polling stations.

PolAm basement living clown.

This is very clear.

Life / Mishmash facts about Poland and Poles [187]

There used to be an old lady who sat in the Rynek in Poznań collecting empty bottles and taking them back to the shop. Then PiS banned outdoor drinking and her income stopped, sadly.

A booming lecture

A simple statement of realty. The risk from anti-vaxxers will sooner or later (hopefully sooner) necessitate more robust practice. You do keep going on about gated communities (on the whole a bad thing) for some unfathomable reason... same as making a fool of yourself (as usual) about vaccination.

Is due to exposure to disease

As established already, it is not.

is in no position to lecture

We are all of us 'in a position' to expect everyone to maintain basic standards of public and community health.

This includes vaccination for all, and heavy penalties for any individuals who directly risk the health of their children and others.

diseases in North America and the Europe

As stated before (perhaps you missed it) the reoccurance in diseases once eliminated from the community is due to unscientific and irresponsible anti-vaxxer woo and no other cause.

I'm all for vaccinations

Very good to hear.

tated they are not a panacea

They are the nearest thing to a panacea in the history of medicine; They have saved (and continue to save) the lives of millions.

Any other factors (specifically about an ethnic minority you constantly rattle on about) isn't backed up by science; there has been no corresponding rise in non-vaccinateble diseases in that group.

In any case, the most deadly outbreaks of disease in Europe and the US caused by lack of vaccination have all been traced back to anti-vaccine parents in the community as a whole rather than any single minority group.

Vaccinations have

Vaccines are essential in the fight against communicable diseases; every public and community health organisation makes that very clear.

Immunisation is supported by an overwhelming body of scientific evidence: There exists no alternatives that is as safe and effective as vaccination..

There is also overwhelming medical and scientific evidence which shows clearly and indisputably that vaccination has saved the lives of around 20 million people, and it is one of the most succesful public health interventions in the history of healthcare.

You're digging yourself even further into a hole, Sh1tty. It's hard to know why you'd be anti-vax, unless you actually get a kick from reading online reports of kids dying from measles.

So passé.

Travel is moving away from documents all together.

Making a fool of yourself again, Sh1tty? Documents are still very much used for travel.

You also seem to be rather confused about facial scanning; the same information is on file, however a person's identity is confirmed.

And you're also trying to go off the topic; a rather important one nowadays, since there are some outspoken anti-vaxxers here in PL. The majority still vaccinate, however unfortunately there are some cranks with websites pushing their unscientific and dangerous ideas.

In the matter of health, the consensus of the medical professions is that vaccination is essential within a community; the clusters of outbreaks of diseases once seen as a thing of the past are a literally deadly judgement on those people who do not vaccinate.

Oh, that's right, you see

You might; the rest of us see passports as the means to travel; and now that biometric and other data is storable in them, the logical step for public health is to encode vaccination records on passports and other state ID.

The game of one-upmanship in gated suburban communities

I wouldn't know about such places, Sh1tty; perhaops you could enlighten us about them. Or more likely not.

What I do know is that the health of a community (gated or otherwise) can be severely compromised by the behaviour of nuts who decide not to vaccinate their kids based on spurious unscientific woo.
