History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

When someone reffers to Eastern Europe it usually has dregatory hint in it

there is also the hint of ignorance in the term Easter Europe that makes many people think like it's some big backwards country divided by boarders.

guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/aug/22/advertising-racism-meerkats

you can see in the comments there how little people know about it, not to even mention the clown who wrote the article, I cant find it now cause there is 581 comments but some idiot wrote something like that "even if meerkat is imitating some Eastern European dialect" lol so according to that Polish would be not a language but some dialect of a big sh1t country called Eastern Europe where in fact languages are in most cases not even mutually understandable

Why do some people on PF have such a problem to be called East Europeans then? Back to page 1 ... :)

I had never heard the term Eastern European until I came to England when I was 22 yo and was suprised why someone was indicating Poland to be there.

I leave you with a map of the UN:

Oh no! your map from of the UN is missing a bunch of slavic countries which is contradicting your theory about Eastern Europe being slavic, how sad is that?

Perhaps that's because I (and various other posters who've made the same points) am right.

Are you going to cover your ass by the invisible friends now?

Please at least post some pictures. You have whole Internet to find and show us what you mean.

don't expect him to spend hours on serching in internet just to find out he was wrong, he prefers to beat about the bush just to keep the argument going, I don't expect that he's grown a pair to admit that either...

No, I mean church. 'Cerkiew' is a Polish word.

It is Polish word indeed however it doesnt mean church :-)

Or even better, perhaps you could explain why you think/pretend it isn't.

Are you going to back up your non sense eventually or just beat about the bush?

Oh dear, you're floundering now. This 'prevalent style of architecture' that you're on about sounds interesting. Check out some of the vernacular architecture here. It has more in common with places further East than places further west.

more beating about the bush...ywan

however here, where I live in Warsaw, is uncompromisingly Eastern Europe

So is it only Warsaw in Eastern Europe? What about Wroclaw for example? xDD

Prolly not the best choice of illustrating Polish cultural closeness to its neighbors to the east, but i couldnt find another so fast.

if he was a new member it would make me think that he's a troll rather then the goofy man.

We also share some with Italians, e.g. Pizza. Nobody. I hope nobody is suggesting that makes Poland part of Southern Europe.

Pizza is a traditional Polish cuisine... there should be some sticky joke thread on this forum

Poland isn't in Eastern Europe, despite culture, cuisine, tradition, language, history, architecture, landscape, economic output and geography.

did you actually think about what you wrote or just thoughtlessly came up with all posible features that could describe a country? because if so then it makes you look a bit less s1lly

Love / Google: Polish women "easier" than English women - official! [52]

3 weeks of dating to get laid is the record so far.

You must be unactractive then

Ask any foreign girl living in Krakow what they think about Polish men.

what did they tell you?

There is less demand for handsome guys. The uglier you are the better.

that's quite funny, are you for real?

You do seem very very confused about the concept of Mittleuropa

I can assure you that I am not.

So you don't ever eat pierogi, kasza, gołąbki, kielbasa, cabbage soup and countless other things, or even drink vodka?

From Polish food I usualy eat schabowy and bigos and like most Poles I'm a beer drinker.

The everyday stuff is firmly in the Eastern European tradition.

It's really amusing how terribly wrong you are

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_cuisine

The 'Eastern Territories' of Germany, you mean?

No, I meant mentioned previously by you "mitteleuropa", you get lost very easly...

So you're still pretending you think Polish food isn't firmly within the Eastern European tradition?

there is a bunch of traditional polish dishes, some of them are tipical slavic and some not, just get over it....

the Central Europe that some people wish Poland was part of is the old Mitteleuropa,

Geography

The German academic Ständiger Ausschuss für geographische Namen (Permanent Committee on Geographical Names) at the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy refers to a territory roughly bounded by the river Rhine in the west, the Bug in the east, the North Sea and the Baltic coast in the north, as well as the Alps and the Adriatic Sea in the south. The area is covered by the modern states of:

Austria
Croatia
Czech Republic
Germany
Hungary
Liechtenstein
Poland
Slovakia
Slovenia
Switzerland

And food, culture, geography etc...

It's really amusing how some people can't accept certain things :D

get out a map, Poland's right in the middle, ergo, central europe, it's really that simple.

apparently some people who still remember the "wall" have problems of getting out the ignorance of their heads.

Love / Google: Polish women "easier" than English women - official! [52]

My theory... If a nation's women are wonderful partners, but also very discerning, men will turn to Google in the forlorn hope of finding easy women of that nationality. If they are either ugly or easy, why bother Googling easy versions of them?

lol... I mean I understand that you are one of those people who like to belive in things that siuts them but please, have some mercy for yourself :-)
