Life / Cost of converting cars in Poland to left-hand drive [58]

I know they are very good at converting cars in Russia as the Mafia steals cars in the West before taking them back East for conversion. Unless you have a very good high quality car such as a Polonez or the latest Syrenka, I doubt if the costs would be worth while. Some cars can not be converted as the clutch lengths are different in some cars. Hire a horse, they can trot anywhere!

Life / Poles - the Nation of Liars? [478]

At least we have an explanation for ours, but can you justify yours?

I have an explanation for your nastiness-it does not come from you so please do not try and turn things around. Life in Canada sure is boring. Anyway, I know the Polish very well indeed and they lie the whole time. no wonder there are thirty words in the Polish vocabulary for bull ****! Be it on the telephone or in person they make things up as they go along like little children.

Law / Shipping a car from USA to Poland [86]

Can you not simply buy a nice Polish Polonez motor car in Poland already registered and insured? It would make life so much more easy.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

I think to answer the question you have to look at the problem in a different way. It is not a question of whom the Poles like less but after who do the Poles come from? The Polish Nation has inherited some really nasty traits from both sides, especially from the Ukraine where the Poles have taken their nastiest streaks from. Would a German or a Russian want to be a Pole? Not on your bloody life is the answer!!

he POW camp that my Grandfather was in, never housed

That might be true but is not true of all of them and it is certainly not true of the POW camp near Slough of which I was speaking.

Life / Poles - the Nation of Liars? [478]

The Polish have always been a nation of liars. I was on a bus yesterday and got talking to an old man who is a close neighbour. He was telling me about life in England just after the war when they filled all the ex prisoner of war camps with Poles! There is agreement between us and that was that in many ways, Polish nastiness is genetic and inborn and is beyond the self help or control of the Poles themselves. After the end of World War 2 in England with the arrival of the Poles knife crime rose almost over night.

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

Poland is definitely an eastern European country and the mentality of the people is very similar to the Russians. Poland is interested in western money to put the bloody country right. They have never had any interest in western culture or civilization.

Men:
Check the car

Ladies:
look at my shoes!!!! :)

Is it a Polish car? I assume that the picture is taken from the late 1970's. An interesting photo all the assume. It must bring back strange memories looking at the Polish countryside and comparing it to Chicago.

If I remember rightly, the South Koreans even redesigned the Polonez and put some nice paint on the bodywork as well as reintroducing a boot! The engine, which came in several different sizes was a French engine, a Peugeot I think. There was even a 1.8 liter version. Very cheap nasty car, all plastic inside and you could hear the road noise whilst going along. Rather like the 1970's Morris Marina built at that time by British Leyland run by a South African named Mr. Michael Edwards.

The Warszawa, if still on the road would be worth a bit of money now. Quite historical. They were like old American cars from the mid 1930's. The seats were just long bunk style seats, there was no division between the drivers seat and that of the passenger. Very heavy, they would probably do twenty miles to the gallon, if you were lucky. Mind you, they say that the later Polonez too was very uneconomical.

News / Original cars manufactured in Poland [64]

Poland did produce quite a few motor cars in its day. They were mostly produced under license from Italy or Russia in the case of the Warszawa. The Russians produced the lada, which was an old Italian Fiat 126p? I do not know if F.S.O. still exists but the majority of the shares were bought by Dahoo, a South Korean firm. THe Polonez was an old Italian car called a Lancier, very very old indeed! Of all the cars, the Syrenka was the best, very solid, rather like Polish breakfasts! It had two doors and was a two stroke. I believe that F.S.O was near Warsaw and stood for something like Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych, or words to that effect. Now, I imagine that the Poles just copy other countries and buy directly from overseas.

Life / Which nations do Poles like the most / the least? [150]

selfish bastards, cowards(in terms of XXth century military history), who got overrun by muslim migration and became a completly different country then they once were...
pls dont make me say more.

I imagine that you are talking about the Greeks. Yes, I always find the Greeks a funny lot with a bit of a 'chip on their shoulders'. Maybe they mourn the loss of so much of their former territory.

I think that Poland is a country which will like any other country as long as there is something in it for them and that other country can do them (Poland), a favour. Its human nature, I suppose.

Life / Poles - the Nation of Liars? [478]

Ive heard some good excuses in my time but these guys are something else and the lies are so good. Its great when you catch them out.

I have not been to Poland for many years, my wife does not allow me to go with her because I am always complaining. I do not know about lying but they will swindle you if they can-be very very careful indeed. They are not clever enough to lye through multi million pound contracts but the women are very clever in small ways of using you and then dropping you. You make an appointment to meet outside the local theater at 8.00p.m. and she does not turn up and lets you down. The next day, by coincidence, you meet the same girl on a bus the next morning and you ask why she did not turn up. 'Oh, sorry, I thought you meant the cinema and I did wait for you but at 8.00a.m. in the morning!! One small lie after another with them. I give up and have no time for Polish rubbish anymore.

You will soon learn that you are expected to pay for everything in Poland-and that includes bribes in hospitals. Ask yourself this question, why do Polish engineers and doctors prefer to work in England cleaning Tesco floors rather than a return life to Poland? Answer-everything here, including education and medicine, is free.

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

You go ahead and complete grade 5 education, then come back and we'll talk, OK?

I know that Poland still wants some of its land back and I do not need to finish any education to know that.

A prime example of 'good English skills'........hahaha !!

Yes, but that is different as it is a keying error as my mind works at a different speed from my fingers as I am an untrained typist. Words like dude and gee man, sidewalk ect are simply American idioms to hide Polish ansestory and linguistic weakness-that is something quite different.

Yes, I have worked very hard at it until I got my Equity card. It is illegal to copy my words and phrases as they are controlled by strict copyright. My writings are a skill which takes many years to perfect and this should not be tried at home without supervision.

Russia being unable to steal from Poland is a step in the right direction in the first place.
Quoting: Michal

Russia has still got half of 'Old Poland' and that should suffice unless of course, Poland wants to buy it back!

(how does that pot and kettle proverb go?)

like this, 'przyganial kociol garnkowi, a sam smoli'.

Kmiot proved wrong 150th time, so nothing interesting here. Move on.

When did I did not ask you to read my work?

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

I suppose that Poland, being in the middle, so to speak, can afford the 'hedge its bets' and knowing that the West is richer and is more able to help Poland economically, it is wiser to say 'we are part of the West' rather than siding with poorer Russia.

No, it is a well known fact that life expectancy is falling in Poland and other parts of eastern Europe. One reason why I do not want my children to live there.

life expectancy can be higher than those of men and women...?

Life expectancy has been falling in Poland for many years now and has nothing to do with World War 2 anyway.

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

The Poles are certainly Central European and are not really the same race as the Russians at all. The Russians are tougher and that fact comes from the fact that historically, the Russians came from Mongolia and probably therefore have more in common with the Turks. That is why in 1945, Europe was saved by the Russians, almost single handedly.

Genealogy / Do Polish people have big noses? [450]

was hoping Michal would come up with some interesting similie to describe Polish noses.

What about those long corks from some thin necked wine bottles? There are some excellent shapes from German white wine.

t feel sorry for Michal...all the Pinocchios he's got in his household...the wife, the kids..him...they really need to be careful not too get their noses tangled up. :)

I am not talking about my household, simply what I observed in a park one morning. I can tell a Pole 'a mile off' as the expression goes, and the theme was about long noses after all.

sorry for butting in (maybe I have a big nose!!) ..but please let's not bring his kids and wife into it.. :(

The Lady in Red does not have kids of her own, hence that is why she brings them in to her conversations.

My God, what boring conversations some of these Polish people have though! 'Oh. are you Polish. So am I! My husband is English though'... and so on..... and so on...and so on...we just stood on the side lines and listened in. More interesting than sitting on the park bench and looking at the passing clouds I suppose. Though now I am not so sure.

For a start, I have never told a lie on this forum and secondly my wife does not have a big nose. Do you have a big nose, then? I bet you do!
