God has fulfilled His role and "job" while granting people the freedom to make their own choice.
If you tell your wife you no longer want anything to do with her and leave, what would you expect from her? That she would continue to care for or help you? That's not how relationships work. But she would most likely attend your funeral.
God should give free will only to those who can reason and be morally and financially responsible for their actions.
