is the number of transgender people. So?

So there's no need for you to get so worked up about it.

they beat black people in America

They did and still do.

then you should have no problem with transgender males being banned from women's sports

Trans women? No problem at all. Nor trans men being banned from men's sports if the appropriate organisation has a case for that. As I've said, it's up to sports governing bodies to decide if the gender assigned at birth gives an unfair physical advantage, not outsiders. Issues like people who are intersex (I'm thinking about Castor Semenya) have already been addressed. The decisions may suit some and not others however since sports governing bodies exist to regulate sports competitions, that's something they do not lack experience in.

hence the rising movement to differentiate themselves from the "t"

Not so 'rising'. Mostly an online thing among the boomer generation, generally in the twilight of their lives now.

It doesn't matter that the number of people affected is "small" i

It is small.

Injustice is injustice

And there are far greater injustices in this world than issues about who can ride a bicycle faster than the next person.

If 'injustice' about women playing competitive games worries you, there are thousands of potential female sportspeople in parts of the world where they are more or less forbidden to do sport at all.

As I say, this is a matter for the governing bodies for sports competitions.

We only hear so much about it because the media like to get click from people who are easily riled up.

but tell me you are okay with that!

No more or less OK than I am with match fixing, doping etc.

I'm much less OK with the flood of clickbait articles whipping up hatred that affects privileged sportspeople (whether trans or cis) or the sensibilities of the suburban lower middle class far less than it affects LGBTQ people getting beaten up on rough council estates or cross dressers in the slums of Rio or Manila getting shot to death.

lawful interference

By whom? There are far more countries than major sports so that would be nigh impossible.

Anyway, sports are a trivial thing to anyone other than fans, participants and bookies. The number of people affected is small, and as I say, competition regulations are a matter for the sports bodies. People opposed to trans sportspersons are vocal enough on the issue in question.

I for sure won't get used to that injustice

I'd fire off an email to whichever body overseas the competition.

Ours tend to fan the flames, if anything.

still...so I guess that mood won't change in the near future...

I suspect it will all calm down with time.

a majority in most countries sees it differently

Most countries' systems and culture are not in any sense role models of good governance or stable inclusive societies.

Iran is quite good on trans issues though, if perhaps a little over-eager.

And even when it's only always a few cases, these cases sour it for all the rest

Only when the media whip it up and 'the rest' see near-endless headlines about it.

And as I've mentioned a few times in this thread, people under about 30 don't seem to have much of a problem about it and the upcoming generation of adults even less of a problem.

Really, most posts after page one should be in a more general thread. The OP was asking for specific advice. Instead, she's got Rich's foul language and spewed-out hatred and our intellectualising.

In Germany there is at least one politician only in his/hers (very well paid) place because

One MP among hundreds isn't much to get worked up about. She may not have a cvnt herself though your country's parliament and mine as well does not generally lack cvnts of both genders, This is true in politics in general.

also the Bundestag

Ours doesn't. It's left up to the individual parties who make their own policies. Google just told me that ours is 65% male and 35% female so we've a long way to go. One interesting thing is that there are more people of colour in the U.K. cabinet than in all other European cabinets together. And ours is currently the Conservative Party.

Quotas because of your sex could be described as sexist and discriminating on its own,

Quotas are there to reduce existing discrimination in favour of privileged majorities. No tragedy in that, though such systems are not always managed well. I suspect that if there were quotas of people who are trans, reactionary politicians would squeal even louder.

unjust advantages

That's just sports matters.

officially ended by law

Much better that sports organisations deal with this rather than using government legislation, not least because there are far more governments and legal systems in the world than there are governing bodies for, say, cycling or tennis.

we can stop debating this topic

I doubt it would stop windbag politicians or click bait newspapers from raising for as long as it gets a reaction from people who dislike any sort of change.

at least in Germany

And not only there. Sexuality is not an issue now in the developed world and even in PL, the rhetoric from some ultra-conservative politicians is offputting in its intensity., especially as they so often fail to live up to the values they encourage.

only about trans-women!

This is something I've noticed too.

The newspaper I read (the most conservative of the U.K. quality papers) never fails to have fewer than three articles about trans women (always women, never transmen) on their website. It ranks together with ULEZ (vehicle low emissions zones), hunting bans, unmarried mothers, German tourists 'reserving' sun loungers at Spanish resorts and seeing black faces, Meghan Markle, and the upcoming (2030) gas boiler ban as things that get the articles clicked on by lower middle class semi-educated suburbanites who instinctively fear change and who like things that hark back to a golden past that never existed.

You're a city dweller, I think, in a progressive city. I am too. We forget maybe about the sheer dreariness of some people's lives out in the suburbs of medium sized towns. A life of 9-5 work then TV in the evening. Those people are often sheep that are easy to rile up for either profit or political gain.

the fact that he's not is deeply concerning for the future of Poland

I'd say that it's not such a dire situation. In any major party there are outspoken ones that don't quite tow the line. PiS, PO and all others round the developed world are the same in that respect. Mavericks are a good thing rather than a bad thing and at least they're just staying away rather than kicking up a storm, though I personally think they should attend.I suspect the whips have spoken with them and in any case, the parade will happen regardless.

Poland has always had a diversity of opinion; it's not a one trick pony and for every p9litician one dislikes, there's another that one favours

Edit
I just read in another thread that one of the two politicians in question is in fact attending the Army Day parade in her home town and that the other one is t really boycotting input either so this just looks like typical media hot air from right-wingers..

we are on a discussion board

And much of the discussion here about them is just the same hot air that you see in the BTL fields of trashy tabloids. A lot of hatred and basically grumbling about anything perceived as new.

don't you agree?

I do, however that is an issue for sports governing bodies and competition organisers to address and as you know, there is much discussion within those organisations. Something entirely expected in changing conditions. Since neither you nor I take part in women's sports, it's hardly something we need to get worked up about, despite media outlets soliciting clicks from people who get riled up by change and despite reactionary politicians using the issue to curry favour with the same type of people.

though I have admitted defeat in that particular crusade

Keep on with it since smartphones are a pest and their rise is annoying for different reasons, though as with the growth in number of people who are trans, I don't think it's anything people could stop even if they wanted to.

I may post in your thread about it later. There are pluses to smartphones however there are a lot of minuses and since all technology is transient, I do wonder what will come after smartphones.

@Luke1410
You can say the same about retail therapy.

Are you the same person as SamUK84 who used to post about what you refer to as 'sex addiction' and the evils of smartphones? As I recall we both dislike smartphones and agreed that they can be damaging in certain circumstances.

Remember that not everybody has the same level of sex drive or sexuality and life is much better now that inhibited people don't need to hide away or feel that sex is somehow 'dirty'.

Gajewska and Mucha

Their party leader should tell them to get a grip on themselves and don't be so silly.

Nevertheless, people do hold different views and politicians of all shades of opinion tend to hold strong ones. As far as I know nobody is suggesting interrupting the parade (and I hope nothing like that happens) so two out of several hundred politicians is not a tragedy.

I find Polish newspapers dreary to read so haven't been following this. Did they say why they aren't attending?

News / What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus? [1800]

Not if you want to do that by a way of spreading suffering first and being companssionate later

You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, and 'investors' who live off the labour of others rarely give up their wealth without a fight.

In Belarus however economic circumstances are odd, and Lukaszenko's current policy of inviting some extremely vulnerable and desperate people then literally pushing them over the border with Poland is just one more case of the weakly powerful exploiting those they can exploit.

Off-Topic / Let's talk about shoes [338]

I don't know where they come from?

I don't have a problem with holes in tee-shirts since I don't wear them, however a good way to stop losing socks is to wash your socks in one of those fine drawstring bags for washing delicates, and always either hang them to dry together or if you use a tumble drier, put them together in your sock drawer right away.

Nobody darns socks these days. When they get holes in people just chuck them. Seems wasteful.

addiction

What is that supposed to mean and why would people 'fight against' sex?

There is no future for sex addicts

Different people have different levels of sex drive. It's nothing to do with whether or not they prefer ladies or gentlemen nd nothing to do with LGBTQA (in fact the A in that do t have sex at all).

What in your opinion is 'sex addiction' and why do you think it's relevant?

useful to any society.

Nor are you particularly. Societies are not utilitarian.

The transholes are the worst

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion, however you aren't going to be able to stop or even slow down change in society. It's not going to go away and I think you realise that.

A real bummer...

No, it needs to be the other orifice to conceive.

Yes, regardless of sexual identity.

Did you know that?

Neither one is enough to make a baby

A meaningless comment.

biologically useless

They aren't though, unless they have surgery on the lower parts of their bodies which many trans people, especially trans men, don't.

Unless you're confusing seuality with fertility.

The future is rainbow coloured, and you can do nothing at all about it.

Can a man who became a woman fu*ck himself

Why don't you go try it?

traitors are incredibly dangerous

Indeed, however there's not a shred of evidence put before the public or before a court that any member of the county's mainstream opposition party is in any sense a traitor.

If they were, it would be a gross dereliction of duty not to act on this and bring the culprits to justice rather than make unpleasant claims that they don't back up. And if there were any evidence (which doubtless there isn't) the usual suspects would be champing at the bit to see a trial.

So it's reasonable to not only call BS, but to call unpleasant BS.

Anyway, if they want to see r*SSia supporters, certain right-wing parties are the place to look. Traitors? Who knows? I don't and evidently the PiS Chairman doesn't given the lack of any arrests for treason. The guy should either act or wind his neck in instead of making silly comments about the country's moderate opposition and calling for people to be 'exterminated'.

History / Polish Army Day [82]

From the look of it, that picture was taken several miles down the same road. Someone we spoke to when they closed ul. Pulkowa said that they were closing the bridges across the river. Presumably they figure in the celebrations.

I'm quite looking forward to it but will probably watch it on TV.

You can if you want, however it's better to come to terms with things you can change and things you can do nothing whatsoever about.

The future is rainbow coloured.
