I am not done yet...Grafitti and restrooms were not my problem since I knew I was in a third-world sh*ithole and only for a moment.

It was what I was told when I went to a hospital because I felt like crap. I had two kinds of insurance with toll-free numbers to verify coverage. To see a doctor and get a prescription, they demanded a payment in zloty up front. No, we don't take credit cards or dollars. Where can I get Polish zlotys? In a bank down the street when they open on Monday. It was Saturday evening.

The next morning, a quick trip to Chopin and 500 bucks later I was on a plane to go back to civilization where they treat you first and expect money later. BTW, I came to Poland on Thursday that week planning to stay for six weeks.

To be sure I got the full picture before I walked out of that hospital from hell, I asked what they would do if an ambulance brought me here unconscious because I was hit by a car. "We need payment z gory". Fu*ck you, morons. The next day, I was back home in the US.

A week later. I went to the hospital in Arlington Heights where I was treated in the past with the same question. We would treat you without any questions and bill you later. If we can't collect we write things off as charity.

Since you are in the area...Is there a sracz at Gdansk-Oliwa yet? When I had to go, I was asked: Na grubo czy na cienko? Number 1 or 2? Number 2. Oh, then you have to go to McDonalds - an American restaurant with restrooms.
