News / What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus? [1800]

@pawian

Good that we established that you are exactly the same as PiS members. You support breaking the law, when you see fit. Next time you want to write "fekk them!!!", think twice, because you are the same.

You want to welcome 100.000 non-European migrants every year starting from 2025??

Let me think - 100.000 a year... that's 1 million in 10 years and 10 million in a 100 years. Into a union of 450 million people.

Yes, Pawian, I think Europe would survive absorbing 10 million people in a f*cking century. *rolls eyes* I would much rather do that than watch them freeze to death in a Belarussian forest or drown in the Mediterranean Sea.

"These procedures do not include pushing people back across the border, breaking their cell phones, taking away their shoes in -10 degrees celsius temperatures, beating them up, separating caught families and pushing them back over the fence separately, every person in a different place."

No comment on the above? What's wrong with you, people?

Poland should tell them about a new policy on the border - shoot to kill. Then kill some off and the rest will run off.

Jaysus weeping Christ... there are families with children as young as 4 years old. WTF Iron??? :-/

@pawian

"Those migrants have to be pushed back."

So you support breaking both European and Polish migration/asylum laws? Wtf?

@Korvinus

Everything you have written is true. There are, however, certain laws in force in Poland that regulate conduct towards people crossing Polish border illegaly.

These procedures do not include pushing people back across the border, breaking their cell phones, taking away their shoes in -10 degrees celsius temperatures, beating them up, separating caught families and pushing them back over the fence separately, every person in a different place etc.

Just read the book, guys, and decide on your own if that's what you think Poland should do.

They are victims not perpetrators.

Read the book, Jon, and then tell me they - at least some of them - are not perpetrators.

Apart from that, both European and Polish migration/asylum laws are being broken on the border daily.

Sure, we haven't started this but are we the same c*unts as this unwashed chuj Lukaszenka and his thugs?

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]

If Soviets invaded Poland in 1980, the collapse of communism in Poland and Eastern Europe in general would be delayed for a few years, probably a decade.

...and the 200,000 people, with post-war birthrates, would be about 350,000 - a city size of Lublin - in 1980s. So, was it worth the few years... maybe a decade? Impossible question to answer.

It isn`t our barbarity

It was provoked by Belarus but the conduct of our border guards is simply illegal in many respects, and there are some guards who are definitely over-zealous (to put it mildly).

Read the book, Pawian, and then tell me if we are not guilty of barbarity. There are interviews with both sides, also border guards. Well worth reading.

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]

They died so Poland and Europe live.

Very debatable statement if you look only at the situation on the front back then.

In hindsight, however, this irrational, f*cked up and extremely costly show of crazy, berserk bravery was noted and remembered by the Soviet Union. Perhaps that's what saved us from the Soviet intervention in 1981, similar to 1956 Hungary or 1968 Czechoslovakia. They knew that we are totally f*cked up in our heads and that we would fight with all our strength, so they decided against it.

Also, it served as one of many ingredients of Polish national mythos. Something that distinguishes us from the Czechs, for example.

Was it worth the deaths of 200,000 civilians and razing Warsaw to the ground? I can't answer this question...

News / What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus? [1800]

I have just finished reading Mikołaj Grynberg's Jezus umarł w Polsce. It's a series of interviews with people who help refugees on the Belarussian border.

empik.com/jezus-umarl-w-polsce-grynberg-mikolaj,p1381760147,ksiazka-p

Not an easy read; if even half of what these people say about what's happening there is true - the condition of refugees in the local forests and swamps and the conduct of border guards (both Polish and Belarussian) - then it's extremely difficult to accept that such barbarity is going on in 21st century Europe.

Poland should take all the people who are currently at the border in, run them through usual refugee procedures, provide them with basic necessities and health service, and tell this wąsaty chuj Łukaszenka that he either stops bringing these poor people here or we are closing the f*cking border - totally. Not a single train or truck will go in or out of Belarus through the EU border. And then we should just wait for the Chinese to sort the c*nt out. No other way - the old kurwa won't understand anything else.

it's mind boggling that so many self declared progressive and tolerant people support that!

It's because they don't care about fairness. They care about their neo-marxist, leftard cultural revolution. Fekk them!!! As my favourite monkey says. :)

News / Referendum to decide about exotic immigrants in Poland [549]

"Are you in favor of raising the retirement age which today is 60 for women and 65 for men "

Hmm... I think they haven't thought this through.

What if their entire iron electorate (about 30%) plus 15% of some idiots say "NO", and the rest of voters say "YES". It will mean that 55% of votes will be in favor of raising the retirement age.

Will they have enough of honesty then to raise the retirement age against the wish of their iron electorate? :)

as a girl I would feel insulted

And a lot of feminists do feel insulted indeed. They ask about the point of fighting for women's rights if being a woman is merely a matter of choice.

"Former" men win swimming and running competitions for women. Is that fair? Can a 60-year-old man who starts identifying himself as a woman retire 5 years earlier? Can a motorbike rider win Tour de France because his motorcycle identifies as a bicycle?

And look at the recent Miss Netherlands competition, won by Rikkie Valerie Kolle, a "former man". What message does it send to women? "Look, men are better than you at everything, including being a woman! They even win your Miss competitions!".

If I were a feminist I would be seething with anger.

Life / In Poland on holiday - need help with bad case of homesickness [108]

I read in Wiki that Nasz Dziennik is a newspaper with a Catholic-national profile.

You had to check Wiki to know that? Geez, Alien, you really are an alien (which planet?). ;)

Do you really want Lenka to read this?

Sure. The article is very interesting, what difference does it make where it was published? Do you think Lenka closes herself in an intellectual ghetto and only reads stuff from her "informational bubble"? Why do you have such a low opinion of her?

@Lenka

From today's "Nasz Dziennik"...

There's an article "Again in Poland" at page M2-M3 of today's ND. Among other things it mentions a family that returned to Poland after 17 years in the UK. If you're still in Poland, Lenka, get the issue of ND; if not, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

Actually, I call their voters so.

Oh, so they are Polish patriots but their voters are homo sovieticuses?

Show me where I have been doing it.

Of course.

You call PiS Soviet Homoerectuses whilst they did exactly what you think true Polish patriots should have done: supported Ukraine to the point of accepting fully your logic of "Ukraine's independence = Poland's independence" (and they even said exactly that on numerous occasions).

So, who are they? Soviet homo pavianuses or true Polish patriots? hahaha :D

Macierewicz

You think Macierewicz is a "traditional element"? You are surely forgetting what this man did when he was the Defence Minister. His actions were so ridiculous and damaging to Polish Armed Forces that even Americans said that they won't sell us even a pump-action shotgun as long as he's the minister. Plus, all the young feminine boys that he likes to surround himself with... I would call him everything but traditionalist.

I was only joking with that crystal ball

It doesn't take a crystal ball to know that Totaloppositionsfuhrer Tusk would follow exactly the German line in everything. Which - in this case - might actually be a good thing. :)

@jon357

It is all good and well, Joni, but the question I asked Pawian - in the light of the above facts - is: are PiS such horrid Soviet homo-something as he tries to picture them. :)

I'm not defending them - God forbid. I am merely trying to understand the multitudinous inconsistencies in Pawian's worldview.

@pawian

And the opposition ambassador wouldn`t stay coz you have a crystal ball

The opposition ambassador would do exactly what the German ambassador have done. :) I am not saying it's a bad thing. The opposition under Tusk's reaction would have been exactly the German reaction at the beginning of this war, because they are basically a German party. Again, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. :)

Fekk PiS and their voters, all those pathetic homo sovieticuses, the slops remaining after the communist system.

But it is PiS who gave your beloved Ukrainians child benefits, full access to free health service, 30% of our weapons and ammunition stock and in general 2% of Polish GDP. :)

It is PiS, whose ambassador was the only one in the world who stayed in Kiev when Russian army was approaching it; the same ambassador Cichocki whom your beloved Ukrainians called to reprimand on 1st August, the anniversary of Warsaw Uprising. :)

So, what's the story, Pawianos? Are they Soviet homo-erectuses or Polish patriots who understand that "Ukrainian independence=Polish independence" hahaha xD

So, offering her such advice is useless.

Offer her your advice then and let her choose which one she prefers.

The only psychological instrument that people can use in such cases is developing hatred.

You have a rather low view of people, don't you? Integrating as much as possible into the culture and heritage of a country you emigrate to is quite different from hating your own. Eventually, it has to lead to weakening links with your native heritage and embracing the new one. Yes, "forget" might be too strong a word but in general I think my advice is sound: don't be torn between two countries, either come back to Poland or integrate more strongly with Britain and weaken your links with Poland. Don't torture yourself.

I had a good job and great friends in Ireland. But when the longing hit me, I took the chance and came back. Of course, it was easier for me to come back after 3 years than it would be for Lenka after 15.

News / Russian criticism of Poland - Soviet war memorial removal [325]

Soviet/Russian pillars that say - here we won, here is our land, here we rule!

Really? Does the monument of a soldier who died fighting here - so that these lands could be taken away from nazis and given to Poland - really say "here is OUR land, here WE rule"? Are we really so scared and insecure that we have to be afraid of monuments? Monuments that depict common Polish-Russian victories over an existential enemy of both our nations?

Seems to me rather strange that you would like to preserve such a messege on the Polish land.

The point is - I don't believe that's the message. For me the message, especially like with the one in Dąbie where both Polish and Russian soldiers were on the monument, was one of fighting together against a common enemy. You may, of course, argue that Soviets were also an enemy but for the difference between these two enemies see #256. In short, Soviets were an ideological enemy who wanted to dominate Poland but weren't a threat to biological survival of our nation; what Germans did and planned to do, I don't think I have to remind anyone here.

But I realise that these two points of view are quite irreconcilable so I see no sense in labouring the point to death and arguing incessantly. You know my opinion and that's all I have to say about this.

So why are you offering such stupid advice?

Because I don't want her to be miserable. To live in constant longing, to feel that she made a mistake...

I said that I gave the advice with sad heart but reading this thread it seems the only way to save her from ever growing longing and misery.

Like Novi. :)

No, not like Novi. I don't want her to hate Poland and Poles.

And they were better?

Before WW2 Poland had 35 million people. In 1945, there were 23 million Poles in PRL. Until late 1980s there were 40 million of us.

How many Poles would be left if nazis weren't crushed by Soviets? Does Generalplan Ost ring a bell?

@Lenka

Come back to Poland.

But...

... if you really don't think that coming back to Poland is a viable solution for you, then you have to try and "turn into a Brit" as much as possible. Travel a lot in the UK, familiarize yourself with British heritage, culture and literature (you probably already did this, but make even deeper study), read "Britain" magazine, maybe enroll to a university course in British literature or something etc.

Try to convince yourself that the UK is a better place for you than Poland, and try to forget Poland as much as possible (I give this advice with sad heart).

Otherwise you will be miserable. And with passing time it will get even worse. If you want to stay there, stay there. But not as a Pole who happens to live in Britain but as a 1st generation Brit who happens to come from Poland, if you know what I mean.

I don't understand why Kania has iusse with it. Seems random.

It's not a huge issue but it just doesn't seem right. Leaders, politicians, generals etc. - f*ck 'em. But leave simple soldiers alone. Atrocities were commited by a minority of degenerates; the rest of them gave their lives to crush nazis and banderists. If they hadn't done that, we wouldn't be having this conversation here today (we all remember what Generalplan Ost was, right?).

Dehumanising.

AntV is American, why should he use British spelling?

Perhaps if Muscovy

As far as atrocities against civilians are concerned, they are relatively low in this war...

statista.com/statistics/1293492/ukraine-war-casualties/

There have been about 10,000 civilian casualties in a year and a half of the war. Compare that to 100,000 Polish civilian casualties in just one month in 1939. That's 10 times fewer people in 18 times longer time period.

@AntV

This is exactly what you called it - "irrational hatred". The amount of vile hateful crap that has been spouted is staggering. Unheard of in case of many other conflicts with much higher civilian casualties.

What did those Soviets do to you or your ancestors

Soviets did nothing to my ancestors. Banderists and nazis did. They cut off a big armful of branches from my family tree. One tends to remember such things.

And then Soviets and LWP did something to banderists and nazis. I would be an ingrateful bastard if I didn't feel certain measure of gratitude.

Also, I live in Ziemie Odzyskane and have lived here all my life (with the exception of 3 years in Ireland) - this is my Poland. The Poland that Soviets and LWP took from the nazis and gave to us. You keep talking about selected war crimes and about rapes - how many of the 600,000 fallen soldiers commited them? Why do you want to treat the memory of all of them - more than half-a-million - on the basis of what a minority of degenerates did?

Soviet lovers

Stop living in a parallel universe; people who are against historical barbarism and destroying monuments commemorating simple soldiers who fought and died for Polish lands, hand-in-hand with Polish soldiers, are hardly "Soviet lovers". But you know this, you are just displaying your usual pawianism again. Typical.
