Both Łódź and Katowice are traditionally industrial and/or mining towns and a bit rougher and more drab than some other cities (Łódź has undergone campaigns to make it look nicer but I don't know how effective). Warsaw and Kraków already have a lot of foreigners and manners are bit more brusque than some other areas.

What city are you in (or close to) in Belgium? I've only been in Brussels (yech) and Antwerp (mostly pretty nice)

Then you should not have undue problems (some problems because moving to a new country is always a fraught process....)

I would advise avoiding Warsaw, and Kraków.... (maybe Łódź and Katowice for different reasons) but one of the other larger cities (Wrocław, Poznań, Gdańsk, Szczecin, Lublin) should be fine.

I spent a lot of time listening to vegan and ex-vegan videos... (vegan youtube is not as big as it once was but it's a consistent source of entertaining personal drama).

My impression is that some people can make it work and others can't. This is probably related to individual genetic variation (rather the way that different people need different amounts and types of sleep).

But even a lot of the 'healthy' vegans don't look that good and those who quite it after months or years talk about chronic fatigue and/or chronic hunger. There's also the issue that a non-trivial number of vegans seem to use the diet to cover up an eating disorder...

(And some just have.... weird stuff going on in their heads.... very weird).

I've yet to hear a good explanation for why.... I know many English speakers hate the word (again... never heard a coherent explanation why) but they shouldn't be making decisions about Polish words...

Maybe when they arrive, but they need to learn Norwegian ASAP..... sick people don't want to have to speak a foreign language with nurses/doctors when they're in their own country (I've known a couple of people who've worked in healthcare there and English alone is not enough - especially when dealing with patients).
