Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Some people attack with knives,Not as many Americans own guns as you may think.Quite a bit do not.If someone comes through
the door with a gun,I want a gun to answer with. The only flash is going to be from a muzzle.I'm not going to take a chance with a

bat.

Peterweg,Where did you get a statistic like that?If you can flash a gun on someone who broke into your house with say a club in his

hand, disaster averted. If they see the barrel of the gun. It's a pretty safe bet they will desist.Let's say a 1000 to 1 they will.

I don't know what He's talking about.Booze and St.Paddy's, a volatile mix!How is the crime rate in Poland? If anyone would answer my

previous questions I'd appreciate it.My belief in the right to bear arms doesn't only have to do with crime.

If someone attacks me in my house with a gun I'd rather have a gun;If they don't you can just flash it and you don't have to hurt any one.

Has there ever been a push to own guns in Poland,Peterweg?I agree with Kondzior about Poland having to develop a gun culture.I am

just curious about how the Polish view gun ownership. Is there hunting in Poland.I mean for food not sport.

I'm thinking more along the lines of home invasion. You can deter someone pretty quickly. You do have people who are irresponsible and
do stupid things with guns;but by and large this is not the case.Where I live in Massachusetts the gun laws are probably the toughest

the country. It is a mandatory year in prison for an unregistered gun.

I didn't notice the previous thread. As for pro gun lobbyists lying about Europe I wouldn't know.People often cite the murder rate of the U.S.

when this issue comes up.How many of these murders involve a gun? You'd be surprised. The Media sensationalizes it so much that you

would think it is commonplace to witness a shooting here. It's not. It's not as easy to obtain a gun legally here as one might think. It is easier

down south, but still not a cakewalk.I believe in the right to bear arms. When I lived in Alaska I owned several and had a lot of fun target

shooting. They are also good for protection should the need arise. It was easier then to get guns.Early 90's.

UK, Ireland / There's not a lot wrong with Poles in the UK. There's just too many of them. [72]

To shadow K and Oxon,I agree that immigrants should try to respect their hosts insomuch as they get it in return. To decide that I'm going to

treat my hosts as s**t because their government has bad foreign policy or it's corporations exploit my home is a pretty f***ing weak argument.

If you want to be disrespectful, just say "I want to be disrespectful",but don't justify it with lame excuses for acting like a jackass.

Life / Television in Poland - embarrassingly bad? [44]

I live in Boston.People surviving on a tropical island for money is not exactly what I'd call a reality show.If I walk down the street,I will see cops, tow truck drivers and there are several major medical facilities within a several block radius.Pay attention to the gist of what I'd posted.

In part I agree with what Oxon said about the media twisting things on the issues of race,But in his case he is making undeniably racist comments. He is relegating his comments to race rather than individuals. The sad thing is I believe he really believes he is not being racist.I don't

know this person well enough to unequivocally say that he is an intentional racist. There is a difference.Racism is still apparent in America;but we have come a long way.

I have to say that America does have some lousy tv.I myself can't understand our predisposition with reality shows.I always thought of television

as an escape. Why watch on tv, what I can easily see if I take a walk. They actually have one for tow truck drivers.lol it's quite embarrassing.

Immigrants continue to flock to the United States in a steady stream.I have met some very hard working and honest immigrants.I do not have

a problem with immigration; It is after all,how our country was developed.I say that if you pledge allegiance to the flag;then you should be of that

flag.I don't care for terms such as Polish American,Afro American,Chinese American etc. so forth and so on.I believe you should say American.

It is ok to have pride in your place of origin,I understand that, but your place of origin should not be put in front of your adopted country. This is how I believe. If you have a Polish immigrant who is a harder worker than the prospective native;then the Pole should be hired. There are unfortunately a lot of people in this country who despise immigration for this reason.I would say this is true in England too.

History / Terrible past for the Jews in Poland? [930]

the Jews have constantly been persecuted since the early times. This is fact.During the black plague they were often killed as if they were the impetus for it .they cry victimization for a well recorded reason. It continues to this day. There may have been some Jews that have given some

legitimacy to this treat; But to say that as a race this is by ,to me and large to me is foolish.

History / Poland and Britain started WW2 [307]

Ahh so chamberlain was really trying to appease Poland all that time.Gee I never realized that the Polish war machine posed such a threat. Thanks for schooling me.I guess even the German Historians missed that one.Let me guess,Japan attacked Pearl Harbor to keep us tied up so we couldn't help stop the Polish menace.lol

Genealogy / Americans of Polish descent. How many of us are on Polish forums? [216]

Why would somebody have to live in Poland to prove that he/she is interested in Poland.I state it quite clearly I am AMERICAN of POLISH DESCENT.Why is it wrong to have an interest.I know I have family over there. If I could afford it I would spend some time in Poland. It sounds like

some of you give a lot of thought about your rhetoric.Don't be so full of yourselves.I want to live in America and I would like to visit Poland.

Merged: polish woman through the eyes of an American

This American loves the no nonsense look I have found in the eyes of polish women I've seen.I find it very enticing.Eyes, high cheeks

and strong hips. That is what I meant Jusia9.
