Genealogy / Polish looks? [1410]

hich shows that Poles have oval faces (best ratio) across Europe( just opposite from what you try to suggest )

Back of the head, not the face. There are two types in the world and geography has a lot to do with preponderance. Stop twisting facts.

I have to admitt there are some Polish men with flat back of head , but it is not a visible trait among Polish men . It is caused by keeping infants in one position ( on flat back ) and not changing positions too often

No. More lies, Moania. Check out the Cephalic Index. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craniometry

UK, Ireland / Why Poles will never belong in England [283]

Saxony "was" part of Poland

Most definitely no.

Keep in mind that when blondes were roaming the shores of Poland, England was a wasteland.

Again no. Unless Poland has a stonehenge or a White Horse of Uffington or a Maiden Castle or a Cresswell Crags.

Life / New Polish generation prefers black culture? [145]

Honestly who hasn't fantasized about brutally dispatching one's enemies and gaining wealth by nefarious methods?

Probably most people. Tell us some more about your violent fantasies, maybe...

Funny I have noticed such head shapes in Englishmen , especially while watching football on TV .

There are far fewer brachycephalic people in the UK.

he helped cover up paedophilia and he did nothing to help AIDS victim in Africa.

This much is sadly true.

Hmmm! For some reason I cant recall where I ever dragged anybody over here in chains.

There's still people alive who went to segregated schools, segregated shops, who had to give their seat up to people on the bus with less melatonin in their skin cells and who were denied the right to vote in their own country. Whether you feel personally responsible or not, you are part of that.

Life / Birthday traditions in Poland [30]

There are no traditions of birtday celebration in Poland. Because traditionally birthdays have not been celebrated

Sto lat, sto lat, niech zyje zyje nam.

Birthdays are celebrated. Just that ladies if a certain age tend to prefer their name day.

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]

Can you speak Polish? Because there is nothing about PiS supporters doing all that, except for unfounded insinuations made by reporters.

There is footage of them screaming abuse at Bronisław Geremek's funeral.

In Poland there is ideological and political war.

No. There is normal life and a lunatic fringe.

If I would vote for PiS only to dis-loge PO's power base a little ....:)

Only PO can stop the PiS fruitcakes.

There were NO enemies from within Poland that sold out the resistance - if thats what you mean?

A stack of denunciation letters were published several years ago. "My neighbour is in the AK and holds secret meetings", "Mrs Z has a secret printing press" etc. That sort of wretched thing. Written by Poles to the occupying authorities.

NN: as much as you can understand the difference between the accents?

Yes, no problem. Anyone who speaks Polish knows the difference between a Polish and Russian accent. It's clear from the moment they speak. Though that particular video is dodgy to say the least.

understanding accent differences isn't so easy unless you are local.

It is easy.

NN: And, Jonny, you aren't local, but, a British.

Your point is?

NN: JonnyM's copied post from Guardian.co.uk above summarized the analysis well. I sign & stamp it..

The Guardian is notorious for getting the wrong end of the stick, but that assessment of the situation is one of the most perceptive articles about Poland in the foreign press.

Sasha: Madatnet, after watching the video I can tell you that:

- I haven't heard a single word in Polish;
- I haven't heard anything but a siren at 0.54
- the audio track seems to be laid upon the video
- the video doesn't contain any evidence of shooting or the like
- you must get a grip on reality

Exactly!

do you know Polish

Yes. Very well. But the issue is the Polish report which makes it very clear what happened. Though somehere are determined to dispute it, saying white is black and black is white. Really it is an insult to the people who died in that accident.

a foreigner, for crimes committed abroad, can be prosecuted by Polsh justice system a

So how would they make an arrest? Especially since Russia does not permit her citizens to be extradited.

In any case, there are no crimes permitted by a Russian citizen in this issue.

Well worth reading and one of the mosts sensible analyses I've seen for a long time:

Poland is still coming to terms with the Smolensk air disaster

More than a year after the death of its president, politicians have failed to heal the serious divisions plaguing the country

Last week, the Polish government finally released a report into the 2010 plane catastrophe, which killed President Lech Kaczyński and 95 others. It blames the accident mainly on the poor training of the pilots, and has since triggered the resignation of the Polish defence minister. Is that the end of the issue? Not a chance.

The debate regarding the Smolensk catastrophe long ago stopped revolving around the 96 people who lost their lives that day and the circumstances in which it occurred. Rather, the tragic event sparked off sociopolitical reactions, which have exposed and enhanced the deep cultural divisions existing within Polish society.

You know nothing about Criminal Procedure Law , so don`t comment on that .

Evidently a little more than you, if you think (as you've said before) that the Polish legal system has jurisdiction overseas.

The saddest thing in all this is that you are trying to turn a tragedy caused by errors by the Polish flight crew into an international matter, shifting the blame onto a neighbouring country which you dislike. Even though that country has behaved in a dignified - even exemplary fashion in this whole sad matter.

as you are both Russians

What makes you think that?

the Russians have committed just as many unforgivable mistakes

Not in this case.

The Polish criminal prosecutor`s investigation is already underway .

The Polish criminal prosecutor's reach doesn't extend to Russia.

Exactly. And it's tragic that there is a tendency for some to make an issue, to shift the blame for whatever reason. In the most extreme case to allege a conspiracy :-(

We , Poles, suffered too much over the course of our past . But now, in times of free and independent Polish state and the internet era , we can learn much more than some vague information Poles were given by grim communist-era dictators , where truth was the good of the un known. and scarcely rationed .

Which alters nothing. We are not talking about righting the wrongs of the past. We are not insulting Poland by letting the truth be bent to sort nationalistic sensibilities. We are interested only in the truth. And the truth is that nobody else except Poles are at fault.

t Poland was doing much better without this "help" before the partitions

It quite clearly wasn't. In fact Poland was economically far behind her Western neighbours during that period.

And the same with British colonies much was built by Brits but again -peanuts comparing to the money that were sucked out of the country

Largely into private hands - th eordinary people didn't see much. Why should the whole nation pay.

Nationality is about shared values - not appearance. I'd go as far as to say that ethnicity is as much a matter of identity than of genes.

Genes are simply the number one reason if you are Polish, Germany, Asian, or Black.

And what about someone adopted as a baby from a different country (say from Malawi) into another country (say Poland). Their genes differ quite radically from those around them. Does that make them any less Polish when Poland, her culture, her shared traditions and her mindset is all they know?

What's wrong with one world government? We all share the same planet. Does that necessarily involve 'eradication' of national identity?

I disagree. Particularly in the "New World". We all have desire to know what our background is.- something to identify with. I am Canadian- but I am often asked where my ancestors came from.

Genes or cultural identity?
