We have guys coming to our hunting camp that never bring a gun with them.

Deer that big around here are extremely few and far between.
Most deer in our area here in Michigan weigh 135 pounds (61kg) field dressed.
Take away 50 pounds of guts and 50 pounds for hide and head and de-bone them and you end up with 35 pounds (16 kg) of meat.
16kg times 3 deer would be about 50 kg of meat.

And yes, I harvest small deer because they are the best eating, the first ones to starve to death in the winter and they don't reproduce next year.

The hunters feel it is better to shoot these deer for their freezers than it is to have a pack of wild 125 pound dogs run a deer down and tear it apart alive.

The deer in Michigan yard up in cedar swamps in the winter for food and shelter in the very deep snow.
When a pack of wolves find them it doesn't take long for the woves to kill the most of them.
I know deer, PolAm, as they eat out of my garden all summer, I hunt them in the fall for over 50 years now and feed them every day all winter behind my house for forty years.

Hell Paulina, when I was a little boy I had fun stepping on ants and killing them.
The difference is that animals don't have souls like humans do.
God put animals on the earth for man to use whether it be pulling a plow or meat on the table.

The Hare in Michigan are almost extinct due to the high coyote population due to the lack of hunters.

I wonder if joun has ever witnessed a stock yard where they butcher beef cattle.
They shackle the cows back legs, hook a chain to the shackles and hook the other end on a tractor bucket and hoist them up in the air alive and cut their throats to let them bleed out.

I guess joun thinks that is more humane than an instant death to a deer from a bullet from a hunters gun.

What is more likey is Mother Naure running her course.
To many fox and they start using other animals abandoned dens and catch the mange and die off naturally.
Personally I think that is more humane than having a fox foot in a trap freaking out only to get clubbed in the head three days later.

I have never been a fan of live trapping.
Second of all a foxes main diet is field mice and not hare.
What kind of hunters are you not to know this.
My pet fox comes right up on my porch and eats a raw chicken leg every night when it is minus -25C in the winter.

You never see her in the summer.

In highschool I had a girlfriend that could gut and skin a deer in thirty minutes and as soon as the heart and liver cooled in the snowbank she would have them on the stove cooking with scallions and garlic.


Bear is a very deep red meat and yes gamey tasting.
Depends on what a bear has been eating.
If he lived in the wild he is good to eat.
If he lived around a garbage dump and ate dump food I wouldn't eat him.

And there is a key difference between killing a deer to eat and killing an unborn human baby for mere selfish convenience.
