foreign banks

Foreign banks are precisely that -- foreign! The view the host country as simply a venue, do not idnetify with the locals and re-invest only as much as needed to keep things turnign over, channelling the bulk of their profits back to their home country. The profits of a Polish bank or other company stay in Poland and bolster the national economy.

foreign experts are employed by the Polish government

One hopes Pislamic isn't one of them. He could be counted on only the sabotage things on orders from his Michnikite masters!

passporting

Throwing terms about, are we? Passporting gives EU-area banks the right to set up shop in any EU country with a minimum of rigamarole, but it does not say they must treat the host country's nationals like theiri own which they rarely do. A case in point -- During the post-2008 crisis, foreign-owned banks were reluctant to grant credit to Poles and moved most of their assets to their home countries. That is why Polish-owned state and private banks are sorely needed. Morawiecki is the moving force.

I've been involved in most of them

Exaggerated sense of self-importance?! If it's rtrue, maybe that accounts for the problems of the banking sector. Wrong person in the wrong place, you know.

socialism ended

All utopianist idoelogies end becuase they are based on false premises. Soviet communism actually lasted 70 years, a far crimey from Hitler's socialism -- 12 years.

network of political cliques united by common interests

That is precisely what the current losers' club had achieved. The post-communist establishment emerged from a bandwagon on which had jumped ex-commies rebranded as social democrats or businessmen, ex-KOR-ites, various professional cliques, showbiz types and assorted unlustrated PRL-ites. Although a seemingly diverse collection of human flotsam, they were bound by common interests, esepcially a great distaste for having the spotlight shone on their PRL past. And, more imprtantly, they possessed much opinion-moulding potential (clever PR). Its no wonder then that quite a few Poles not belonging to any of the above cliques voted for them. PiS are at a distinct disadvantage because they represent the ordinary Pole, the typical Polish family, the little guy who have limited opinion-moulding clout. The fact that despite that disadvantage a majority voted for PiS and booted PO out of office simply proves, as Lincoln said: "You can't fool all of the people all of the time!"

totalitarian one party state

No-one I know is advocating that. But appearances may be deceiving, especially when backed by clever albeit deceitful and misleading propaganda. PO calls itself liberal, and that menas being pro-freedom. But under PO rule the media market was dominated by the post-communist option of Michnik & Co. Now, under a conservative government, there is true media pluralism.

The question is: Do that disgusting, unsavoury threesome, who have been polluting the forum for years, deserve an "elegant and fresh name"?

activities incompatible with the principles of independence of the courts and judges

Political agitatation, taking part in poltical rallies supporitng one side of a poltical row is incompatible with the the principles of independence of the courts and judges. All the judges taking part in that hate industry seance were in violation of the constitution. The separation of Prosecutor Gen. and Justice Minister only occurred in 2010. That means that all the governments prior to then were in violation of the constitution. And yet no-one recalls PiSlamic raisng his voice in protest back then.

quote the article of the Polish constitution

Art. 178. §3
Sędzia nie może należeć do partii politycznej, związku zawodowego ani prowadzić działalności publicznej nie dającej się pogodzić z zasadami niezależności sądów i niezawisłości sędziów.

I'll save you a trip to Google translate:
A judge may not belong to a political party or trade union nor engage in public activity not commensurate with the principles of the independence of law courts and judges.

A political rally favouring one party against another is deifntiely neither independent nor impartial.
BTW, PiSlamic and Kopacz are tied for this year's Liar Laureate award. Good luck!

break Polish law

The judges violate the constitution by engaging in politics. They are supposed to be non-partisan, unpoilitical, unbiased and devotzed only to the merits of the case they are judging. Instead, their convention was nothing more than an outright PiS-bashig poltical rally. They said nothing up cleaning up their act, making sluggish judicial machinery more efficient, not forcing people to wait for verdicts for months if not years. No, only PiS-bashing. So before you point your finger at PiS, remember: THREE FINGERS ARE POINTING BACK AT YOU AND YOUR PO SCAMSTER COMRADES!!!!! But rest assured, there is no return to the PO-at-the-trough era!

BTW, very transparent attempt to wheedle your way away from your role model: LYING KOPACZ!

telling the truth

The truth according to Kopacz: Even the tiniest fragment of human tissue found at the scene of the crash up to a depth of one metre was DNA-tested... The Russians acted with great empathy, care and professionalism.... A giant crock of BS!

The reality: coffns were fileld with scooped up body parts and debris including ciagrette butts inside sewn-up post-mortem cadavers to have a niformn weight of of 80-90 kilo.

And back in 2010 Tusk said he takes full political responsibiltiy for the situation. He hasn't beee too tlakataive about hte misplaced cadvaers and body parts.

And these are the kinds of characters you identify with. Lying-through-the-teeth Sikorski, fraudster Graś.... Anyone who does has got absolutely no class and no brains!

missiles that were destroyed

As usual, PiSlamic's got no sense of humour. That remark was strictly *** grano salis. It did remind me of one of the underground postrers during martial law: Organizujemy wycieczkę do Związku Radzieckiego Pershingiem....

Language / Polish case question (Mężczyzna jest zimno? or Dziewczyna jest zimno?) [71]

'analytic',

Another term for languages such as English is positional rather than inflected (few endings). In normal (non-poetic) English the position tells the story, in "Man bites dog", we know who got bitten and who did the biting simply by the positon (subejct, predicate, object). Chinese is also the same. "Wo aye nee" (I love you) - "Nee aye wo" (you love me).

In Polish "Psa ugryzł człowiek" it is the ending of pies -- psa and the lack of an ending on człowiek that tells us who did what

Father Sowa looked like a mafia capo deciding whom to support, whom to rub out, what tactic to use, etc. and peppered his spiel with loutish language unbecoming a priest, even a drunk priest! On the other hand, what other type of priest would stoop so low as to hobnob with the PO scamster slime? He used to appear regularly on TVN(omenkltura). Or is it TWN

limits directly elected mayors to two terms

A party is a voluntary organisation, so they are free to elect whomever they want for as long as their charter allows and they cna vote to amend the charter.

A mayor is a public official and limting the number of terms in office would be one way to break up the local cliques and mafias that have grown up over the years.

Language / The "end piece" of a loaf of bread in Polish [80]

whereas in Poland rye flour is mainly used.

That used to be the case. Rye was able to grow in northerly cliems and was once cheaper than wheat. But the giant bread factories of the West based mainly on wheat have made theitr imprint on the Polish baking industry. Nowadays even the standard Polish bread (chleb zwykły) usually contains only about 15-20% rye flour.

PO has fallen a full 14 percentage points below PiS.

That was last month. Now PiS is 21 points ahead of thePlatformers. More and more Poles have seen through the phony PO propaganda and endless government-bashing to conceal the PO's lack of any programme and thier real goal: A RETURN TO THE FEED TROUGH!!!

PO scamster regime

Not long ago backers of the now fortunately defunct PO scamster regime got orgasms due to a one-off fluke where PO came 1 point ahead of PiS in a survey. Since then, as widely predicted, support for the ruling PiS party has grown spectacularly. The latest CBOS poll has shown PiS getting twice the support of PO. PiS was backed by 42% of those queried, PO -- 21% and Kukiz - 9%. No other party crossed the 5% hurdle. Such an outcome would give Law and Justice and the constructive opposition Kukiz-15 a constitutional majority to finally create the Poland of our dreams. Co daj Boże!

Not "Babci"

Babci, cioci, busia, dziadzia are part of a PolAm patois or jargon which is strongly engrained in the culture of descendants of the old (late 19th/early 20th century) Polonia. It is primariyl used by those who speak little if any Polish and communicate exlcusively in English.

massive looting

And you expect squads of commie goons smashing shop woindors nad stelaing their goods! Thigsn were far more subtle, harldy noticeable sicne it ast publicised and invbolbed mainyl white-collar-type ruses. When Gorbachev arrived on the scene, directors or Polish state factories began acquiring chunks of the action, seeking contacts abroad for joint ventures and suchlike. A Morawiecki would have taken steps to help create a Polish entrepreneurial class outside the nomenklatura network. Under Balcerowicz and the clique, the nomenklatura not onyl gained a foothold but firmly established themselves in the economy and then went on to a hefty pension. You probabyl believe it was proper to reward them for their years of faithful service to the stooges of the Soviet-imposed regime. Oridnary Poles were free to do junk jobs with no benefits or wash dishes in a Berlin beerhall or London pub.

Godwin's la

Who the hell was Godwin?* Don't tell me, I know. His law is something someone can invoke when they are lost for words and lose an argument. It saved you from having to deny the well-known role of the nomenklatura in Poland's communist and post-communist era. But you cannot deny that (on the basis of countless posts to that effect) you represent an ultra-pragamatic, super-cost-efffective and mega-GDP-minded obsession as extreme as Crow's claim that Serbia is the centre of the universe.

hands of the incompetent

Who said nomenklatura were incompetent? They or their families were on-the-ball survivors who had made it through successive purges (1956, l968, 1970s, martial law), so they readily adapted to capitalism. And if the monarchy had been restored, they would have likewise wormed their way into positions of power and privilege. Already in the mid-1980s (coinciding with Gorbachev's perestroika), they began entitling themselves (uwłaszczenie nomenklatury) with chunks of the eocnomy. Even earlier, when Gierek announced so-called Polonian firms (1970s), it were nkimenkjlatgura who got in on the ground floor. But is being crafty, cunning and clever all that counts, as you seem to repeatedly indicate? If so, you should admire the Nazi who came up with Cyklon B, because it was far more cost-effective than petrol exhaust fumes. Justice also exists, so the nomenklatura should have been penalised, not rewarded, for serving Soviet occupation forces and sharing in the spoils for so many years. Too bad there was no pro-Polish Mateusz Morawiecki in the early 1990s. Instead Poland got Soros/Sachs disciple Balcerowicz.

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4500]

Kanusevic

KANUSIEWICZ: Probably from the Old Polish given name Kanimir (etymololgy: he amongst whom peace prevails - u którego gości pokój). Hypocoristic (pet) form Kanuś, so Kanusiewicz would have most likely arisen as a nickname-turned-surname of patronymic origin.

Re the two given names just a stab in the dark: Kijit - possibly a form of the first name Kajetan; Venetta - possibly derived form Weneda, a Roman name for a Western Slav.
