What do Poles owe to Germans?

most British are as different from Germans as Poles are or even more so.

Except that the Germans look with admiration at the British but not at the Poles.

Since the current royal family is essentially of German descent, small wonder that the Poles continue to be seen as interlopers and cheap-labor workforce.

Ever since Albert married Victoria, the Windsor line has become hopelessly intermingled with Saxe-Coburg and later Battenberg aka Mountbatten:-)

The British House still feels it must live down the shame of Edward abdicating the Throne to marry Wally and showing himself a Nazi sympathizer, in the same category as the Mitfords, Lord Haw-Haw, Mosely and the whole bleedin' bunch!

I think nobody mentioned that Germans offered us about 250 Leopard 2 tanks of different versions

And 2 years ago they also offered Patriot air defence systems to protect the Polish skies from Russian rockets.

that is a day for the history books!!

That day already took place in history when Polish German reconciliation was officially signed by our leaders in 1989.

This old picture has its new versions:

Long live Polish German partnership! Ironside, kneel down before your Saviour!

Since the current royal family is essentially of German descent,

I would invite all royals to a meeting, lock the doors, and give them Ceausescu treatment to make Europe more democratic, with fewer parasitic clowns roaming loose and doing nothing besides smiling and kissing other people's babies. I could do this crap for a lot less and without my MSEE.

give them Ceausescu treatment

Yeah, you like to fantasize about killing people..... we know that and thank providence for the thousands of kilometers between us.....

Yeah, you like to fantasize about killing people...

Romanians not only fantasized but actually did it. The trial and execution on the same day.

Now, thanks to them, Romania is a "free and democratic" NATO state.

Would you like Ceausescu back?

Interesting question, Novi!

Imagine the Tsar and his family wouldn't had been executed....would Russia today be better off? (No Stalin etc.)

Imagine King Wilhelm II hadn't abdicated....would Germany today be better off? (No Hitler etc.)

Imagine the Tsar and his family wouldn't had been executed

Their monarchy had already been deposed before the Bolsheviks took over however I'd guess it wouldn't have made much difference.

The world is awash with former royal families.

Well...I guess it would have made a major difference...Europe would be better off now....but we will never know!

Jon, Britain was much longer a functioning monarchy...wouldn't you say GB is better off now than both, Germany and Russia?

Europe would be better off now..

I doubt it. It would just be a different set of European autocrats there and one where the ruling class had even less incentive to develop the society.

Britain was much longer a functioning monarchy

It still is, however Britain has been a constitutional monarchy for over 300 years and society has largely shaped by a steady evolution of democracy without a break in that evolution and by forestalling major internal conflicts.

When the rest of Europe was ablaze in 1848 we'd had the strikes three years earlier and were already ahead of those countries that hadn't.

I get it you're jealous....

Damn right! I would pay 5 grand for the privilege and the pleasure of executing a pos who raped and murdered a child.

you say GB is better off now than both, Germany

Brits will never admit it but deep down in their trembling woke hearts they wish they had now Putin or Hitler's nicer version running their country. Imagine Muslim-free London...I am tearing up so I will stop now...

In all fairness, this applies to the US, too, so I will vote for Putin or Xi next November. That border would be closed on the inauguration day.

My point is that when a nation is in the suicide spiral it needs shock therapy. Only a real dictator can make idiots snap into normalcy... Polite conversations never do.

That's why Xi invading California would be an improvement over what we have now ... At least Cali would have the death penalty that actually works and no migrants.

Xi for President!

My method of finding useless PF morons works like a charm with that throwaway bait at the end.
They ignore the meat of the post and comment on the bait.

To which nation(s) are you referring, furthermore,
kindly prove that the proverbial rough slap in the face
actually solves the long term problems you're trying to solve.
"Shock treatments"?? Give me a break.

Germany needs the AfD about as much as the the US needs Trump
or the (Bitter) Tea Party of acrimony and out of control mean spiritedness!

Who does the US need to stop the invasion?
How would you stop it?

@jon357

The world is awash with former royal families.

When I see heads of states, if the types of Putin, Trump or Biden. I am more then happy with a Harald, despite certain scandals in his family. He and his family is by far a better choice then any of three mentioned or a looneybin Giske, Hagen or Listhaug.

So spare me your propaganda, I consider myself a supporter of a republic in general. But seeing the list of probable candidates in other states with republican mechanisms over past 20 years I lean towards Monarchy day by day.

There aren't any good men around nor notable people to uphold a republic. Only charlatans, greedy men and women and opportunists.

I sincerely hope that U.K continues to be spared of this horror in the future, I am sure you know more then one or two on the isles that would not be deserving to be it's head of state but would likely be it with a republican form of government

Poland owes Germany Western Poland.
It was taken from Germany by brute force - a method Poles don't like when applied to CDL.

Invasion, Rich??

Think of the countries in the world "invaded" by rough-hewn US expats.
throwing their weight around and expecting to be treated like royaly,
in Mexico, for example. Ever heard of the Ugly American?!

Western Poland.

Not really. We got it as compensation for the loss of property and life inflicted by Germans during the war.
Ironside 53 | 12,426
26 Feb 2024 #356
BS, we got it because Stalin liked it this way, the same with the Polish land we lost in the east. All Stalin's whim and the US as accomplice sold this part of Europe down the river.

Poland owes Germany

The US owns Mexico the Southwestern part of the USA because it took it by an imperialistic brutal force.

the same with the Polish land we lost in the east

Morally the Regained Lands were granted to Poland by all the allies, not only Stalin. for the destruction and losses caused by Germans in occupied Poland. Practically, they were a compensation for the Eastern territory captured by the USSR.

That's what my favorite thinker, Mr. Darwin, says is normal.
What is not normal is Poles in Szczecin and Wroclaw whining about Russia annexing Crimea.

Ironside 53 | 12,426

Poles in Szczecin and Wroclaw whining about Russia annexing Crimea.

or Americans whining about 'their money spent on imperialistic expansion and the world domination, that started in 1917. Who told you to go to Afghanistan and Iraq? Holy Spirit? Now some lame shopkeepers from the US lost their shops due to globalisation but some Americans made fortunes bigger than a few budgets of some smaller countries put together. All is fair, you are being exploited by your fellow American lords and all you can do is whine with the best of the plebs.

Maybe you should start the choir? lol!
---
Crimea should not belong to Russia because its possession gave them a geopolitical and strategic advantage and encouraged
them to further expansion. To keep Russia stunted it is in the best interest of the US and Poland.
Whilst Szczecin and Wroclaw matters only to Poland.
---

for the destruction and losses caused by Germans

Take your ignorant backside and get lost. It was explicitly said that those lands were granted to Poland to make space for Poles resettled or kicked out from the east.
