Szydelko, Pater - Lost Relatives

Hi my name is Yvette and I live in Perth, Western Australia. My mother, Halina, was born in Poland (now an area of Ukraine) in 1936. I am taking her to visit Poland in March and believe that she still has distant relatives residing there. What is the best way to trace her relatives please? Her mother's family name is Szydelko and her father's family name is Pater. I would appreciate any helpful information. Thanks.

KASIERSKI: probably regional variant of Kosiorski (form kosior — a wooden board attached to a long handle for removing hot coals and ash)

SZYDE£KO: awl (leather worker’s tool)

PATER: Latin for father; oen of the Latin prayer derived surnames including Deus (God), Meus (my, mine), Dominus (Lord), Mater (mother), Frater (brother), Noster (our as in Pater Noster – the Lord’s Prayer), Korpus (body), etc.
