I personally don't think you look Polish... Eastern European, but I don't really see the "typical" Polish features. Maybe closer to Ukranian or Romanian or Balkan or something...
Not necessarily. There's a ton of Ukranians in Poland and at least from what I've seen they tend to be more brunette than blonde, but with light eye color. I don't really look like a typical Pole either even though both of my parents are 100% Polish.
@Dirk diggler I think I also look Hungarian, though I don't have any known Hungarian roots.
Romanian
Yeah, also pretty close. Polish Gorals are apparently of Vlach descent, from what I've read. My surname actually suggests some Romanian descent, even though it ends with "-owicz"
Probably because the mods don't like personal info on here... there's been cases in the past with stalkers so maybe its just a precaution on their part.. idk...
@Dirk diggler Yeah, that is a good reason for doing that. Ok, I have what I wanted, though. Thanks. Just leave the messages that were written to me about my look. I like re-reading them from time to time.
Ukrainians are blond, I think, but maybe I'm wrong
Ukrainians in Poland mostly blend in visually (there are a few that stand out through dress or physical features but over 90% they're indistinguishable from Poles... until they open their mouths).
I have googled dorsal hump and Bob Hope - had a look at the noses and don't think either is 'typically' Polish. Most Ukrainians I have met here don't look much differently than Poles. Peoples of Europe have been mixing for centuries. There are Germanic, Balkan, Scottish, Jewish (and many more) traces among present day Poles. Some are tall, some are short, some are stocky, some are slender. Certain features may look more familiar but that's all.
I did it through the website called "unsee.cc". It was there for a quite short time, though. Tell those people, who sent their photos on this thread, please, they need to be safe.
I'm afraid I would have to do the DNA test for my heritage, yet it's so expensive and there is a conspiracy that your organs might be sold, if you take the DNA test.
I'm allegedly of Polish noble descent, as my mother said (Pobóg coat of arms), but I'm not certain about the rest, later I'm gonna tell you all the details, if you respond me.
there is a conspiracy that your organs might be sold, if you take the DNA test.
Conspiracy theories are rubbish; nobody sells your organs. DNA tests aren't perfect though; any information they give you is dependent on the number of customers any given service has from a particular ethnicity.
That means they can sometimes be very specific and they can sometimes be very vague.
later I'm gonna tell you all the details, if you respond me.
I must say that when I saw your first post a few days ago about whether you looked Polish, I assumed you were American and interested in your ancestry. Since then, I've realised that you actually are Polish but you want to know if you're 'truly' Polish, as in your ethnicity, is that right? What I'm still not clear on, is whether you are upset or worried in some way that you might not be 100% 'Polish' or whether you're just interested. I can't see any reason to be upset about having a bit of a mix in your genes.
As for people stealing your organs, how could that happen? Do you mean the testers sell your data to governments who put it in a database and then if you go to hospital for a routine procedure they snatch a kidney while you're under anaesthetic? Can't see that happening in the developed world. I know China has a reputation for that sort of thing, but I reckon you're ok in Poland.
I can't see any reason to be upset about having a bit of a mix in your genes.
I can't think of any human "pure breed" these days. That was possible in the times when groups of people lived for thousands of years in perfect isolations from other groups.
Thanks for responses. I don't want to come off, as someone having particular leftist delusions, because I'm a centrist (I hate both left and right), but there are four issues:
- Poland is seen by mainstream media as a racist country, on top of that, many foreigners have that stereotype of Poles being blond-haired and blue-eyed.
- In Poland sometimes hate crimes happen, I think it's merely minority doing that, but minorities are oftentimes the most vocal about their views.
- I was always curious about my family's history, what they did, whether they were peasants or noblemen (I think I have some significant complexes about being peasant here, because village heritage is still badly seen in Poland, as they are "backwards" and voting for PiS all the time.
- Some Polish people, upon seeing people like e.g. Julia Wieniawa, Urszula Dudziak (singer) or some celebrity that posseses some exotic look, they assume they are Jewish and the hate comments are sometimes visible on Interia, WP, Pudelek etc.
So, that's why I act like this, like I'm afraid of something. A lot of mainstream media have been telling that Poland is close to Nazi Germany with such views (those are not my views, as I incredibly hate far-leftists), but yeah, in Poland there are certain bad vibes.
Oh goodness... I wrote a lot about that.
This guy apparently has a lot of complexes due to his exotic look. Polish required.
